You are correct in that creepypastas seem more "creepy" than "scary"

There was a story on Creepypasta that I read that made me wonder about the author. XD A rather elaborately detailed diary thing of a ... obsessed person who fell in love with someone they met and stalked them obsessively, even hiding in their vents. o_o' Forget the name of it though...

I prefer the ones like the "Russian Sleep Experiment" myself.
