Well, guessing from my love of the movie, I'm sure I'll love the book too. I'll give you an official opinion when I've read it though ^^

@Sai You got the new monthlies quite quickly
|
I remember watching the last unicorn I thought the animation was quite lovely.
|
The book is just as lovely as the movie. <33 I've read and I was really happy about how similar the movie was to the book. Ana, you're gonna love it! And everyone else, I highly recommend it! |
I have the Animated version of The Last Unicorn <3 its cute I would like to read the book..
I loved the book called "The Black Unicorn" and would like to get my hands on it and the other 2 books that follow it.. "the red unicorn" and "the gold unicorn" |
I remember a book that was really neat when I was still in elementary school...umm...Song of the Wanderer, I think it was, and that one had unicorns in it too. I never did get to read the third one of that series. =( |
There is another Unicorn series i heard about and want to get.. "Into the Land of the Unicorns" it sounded interesting but I can't ever find it ;-;
|
Sigh, I'm so out of place here, I skipped little kid books as soon as I could read and jumped into chapter books and novels meant for late elementary and middle school kids...
|
"The Last Unicorn" and "Song of the Wanderer" are novels. Just because the books are about something "kid-like" like unicorns doesn't mean that the people in this thread don't enjoy thick novels. I apologize if this is a curt reply, but it does sound like an attack on our intelligences. If it makes a difference, I was excused from all reading programs in my elementary school and beginning of middle school because I was already reading above a college level in 6th grade. So, really, you probably fit right in.

My cat keeps attacking my Kyo Book Mark ;-;
|
Oh noes! D= Does it have a dangling bit on it? Hunter goes crazy over those as well. XD
|
A tassel with beads yes.. >< He destoried one of my Sesshoumaru Bookmark tassels.. and my Pirates of the Caribbean tassel ;-;
if he keeps attacking it.. I'll lose my place in Host Club D8 |
Awww...I'm sorry, lol.
Nooo! I thought we'd get my birthday off because 10th graders get science CSAPs, but no, they're dragging us in for TWO HOURS. Fuck that, I'm skipping. It's my BIRTHDAY. |
xD Birthday freedom!
*should read vol 5 of host club then put it away* |
-pops in-
|
@ Pices
that was not my intention at all, I assumed they were children's books that were being revisited as a fond memoir of times gone by, apparently my assumption was incorrect and I apologize if you thought I meant to demean your (and others) intelligence...s...i think...anyway a thousand pardons |
It's all good then, Corvus. =) I do apologize for being sharp, since such is the case. Favourite books? |
The Last Unicorn is an interesting story. I liked the movie.
I even have Peter S. Beagle's autograph. ^.^ The Black Unicorn was very good. <3 I have the Unicorns of Balinor books. Unicorn and magical horse stories are such fun. |
The Unicorns of Balinor? whats it about :3
|
It is a series of juvenile (the level before YA) chapter books.
They are about a girl who is a princess in a fantasy world that she can cross over to with the help of a unicorn. This unicorn is sent from the realm of the unicorns to help her find her kidnapped royal parents and defeat the "evil baddie" who is trying to take over. I only read the first book. I think at the end of it, this kind of snooty girl, who is having a horse boarded at the princess's mild mannered secret identity earth horse farm, gets transported to fantasy Balinor. |
That sounds interesting o.o
|
Good evening everyone. >.<
|
|
I'm doing pretty well, just finishing up some homework.
How about yourself?? |
Hey guys! Hey Kira! I'm doing homework, make up work at that. Just popping on to say hi and check the place out. I'm sort of on a roll but it's kinda lost at the moment, lol. ❤ |
Evening ^^
So, what was everyone's first book they checked out of a library to read for fun? Mine were A Midsummer Night's Dream (it had fairies on the cover, lol) and a book about greek mythology. I was 11 XD |
My first book.. Um.. The Tale of the Body Thief by Anne Rice..
I was finally close enough to a library so I could go up constantly :3 |
Wow...that was forever ago....I think it was on of the Junie B. Jones books.
|
Hehe, I lived 3-4 blocks from the library when I was growing up, so I went all the time. I remember just wandering through the stacks, enjoying looking for any books that caught my attention. <3
Oooh.. Anne Rice. I like Anne Rice. I haven't read too many of her newer things though. I loved the first three books in her Vampire Chronicles though. The others were good, but I didn't like them as much as the first three. |
Anne stopped the vampire and mayfar witches and taltos stories..
they were getting to become to religious =w= I wish I knew what happened to my Fan mails to her D: we talked about how she felt about the movies.. and why she stopped writing Lestats stories =( I was amazed that she answered the fan mail ._. |
That's really cool ^^ Hehe, she might start writing them again. Apparently, she decided she's not a Christian anymore.
I did notice that increase in religious stuff in her later books. Especially Memnoch the Devil. Which was my least favorite of the Vampire Chronicles books. I just thought Lestat was acting completely out of character in it. I read the Mayfair and Taltos series too, although I preferred the vampire ones. |
I love how the Mayfair Witches connect with the Vampire chronecles :3
but yea.. I really didn't like Blood Cantanel and Memnoch the Devil.. >< the were too religious in my taste .. at one point.. it was said Lestat saw God and brought back some kind of veil which the churches wanted.. |
Yeah, I liked that part too. It's cool when a writer has a common "universe" among their separate works. Stephen King often does that too.
Yeah... that was in Memnoch the Devil. I never read Blood Canticle. I think the newest books of hers I read were The Vampire Armand and Merrick. Merrick wasn't too bad, since Lestat was starting to get back to normal. Still not back in full "brat prince" mode, but better than in Memnoch. |
My favorites will always be Blackwood Farm, Tale of the Body Thief, and Queen of the Damned <3
|
My favorites are Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned (Don't even get me started on what they did to the movie of it >< ) I haven't read Blackwood Farm, although I mean to eventually.
|
OMG the movie *piiiiiiiiiissssssssssed* D<
My sister was all like.. OMG the movie is the best! I was like.. 'omg' you are so dumb! they cut all the gore out and how the queen and king came to be and and TOLD EVERYONE MARIUS MADE LESTAT WHEN HE DID NOT! D< my sisters deffence "I can't read so I don't care" Ugg I wanted to strangle her ;-; |
Lol. Well, taken apart from the books the movie itself was ok. And I did like the guy who played Lestat. Although he's supposed to be blond. >.> But if you've read the book..... yeah total disaster. They just left so much out. I mean, they completely did away with Mekare and the real origins of the vampires. And that ending. Seriously? Killed Akasha by sucking her to death? And I pretty much hated how all the characters looked. They didn't get anyone right. I seriously thought Marius was supposed to be Louis at first >< Blah.
I'm usually pretty good at separating the movie from the book and enjoying them each for what they are. But Queen of the Damned..... just.... no. |
Hmmm....I think the first book I ever checked out from a library was from the school library, I was 8, and it was Nancy Drew. <333 |
well if you wanna do school libraries.. mine was 'I Spy' ._., I was in the first grade xD
