after all these years

wow i understood that without using google translate.

muy bien, bluebird

I had english like
from first grade until the last year of high school

I'm kinda sad that I've retained almost nothing from the 4-ish years of Spanish I took in school. I can recognize a few basic words and phrases, but not even enough to be able to hold a simple conversation.

watch out, someone might snatch that out of your hand xD

Stabbsworth 08-20-2019 10:25 AM

that's likely something akin to "I do not comprehend this."

heck if i know, i'm not that advanced in spanish.

mdom 08-20-2019 10:58 AM

that's very good, voidbarker

Witchchylde 08-20-2019 12:04 PM

I took French, so, Je ne comprend pas que vous parlez.

Merskelly Metalien 08-20-2019 02:37 PM

I took Spanish. :} And I have Mexican blood but look more white/Asian/mixed? <x} and I've only ever spoken English as a language, so it's really all I know, even though I've had 3 years of Spanish. <x} I haven't been practicing, but I can understand almost 19% of Spanish spoken. Can't hold a conversation worth a darn, only sentences.
Lo siento. Mi espaƱol no es bueno.

Kaderin Triste 08-20-2019 02:44 PM

Lol. So for the fun of it, I took the Reading Written Spanish proficiency test on Indeed while working on my resume. Apparently I'm "highly proficient". But tbh, it was just me making educated guesses at the correct multiple choice answer based on the 2-3 words I could identify and translate. XD

oooh I learned English after school though xDDD I wouldn't trust systemic education like that...
I might work as a translator...

Stabbsworth 08-20-2019 06:52 PM

Mer said: 'Sorry, my spanish is not good.'

I could definitely become a translator. I actually just fucked off over to duolingo out of pure boredom and decided to learn Spanish because it was one of the more common languages in the world other than Chinese, and I don't really want to learn Chinese.

bluebird 08-21-2019 12:13 AM

even if so, those skills can carry over to getting something more official like TOEFL/IEFL. i believe u can do it!

anything is possible with hard work. a lot of us have other priorities/laziness takes over tho XD
