that's cool. i don't know any place that does that sort of stuff.

Den 02-22-2018 10:44 PM

I had to make brownies, and clean the kitchen, after spending part of today vacuuming the downstairs, because Deities forbid Dad do anything in the kitchen to help Mom or me out. I spent part of yesterday vacuuming the upstairs, and stairwell. I still have the kitchen and laundry room to vacuum, and Dad wants me to go get his deathsticks tomorrow, too, and on top of all that, I have to help Mom with bringing in the groceries after she gets home with them tomorrow, too. I can't keep doing multiple-match activities back-to-back.

Serra Britt 02-22-2018 11:20 PM

Sounds like you are shouldering all the work your parents don't want to do, Den :/

-offers hugs-

Den 02-22-2018 11:46 PM

Dad grew up in a time where women did the housework while the men relaxed after work. doesn't excuse his behavior. Mom's got a cold, so I get why she wanted me to make the brownies, since I'm the only non-sick person in the house currently... but I have to do chores because Mom works during the day, and Dad doesn't really help out.

Mom refuses to sort recycling when she bags it up. and right now, we've got a PA standoff in the upstairs bathroom we both use, regarding the trash. I don't mind doing vacuuming, because I like doing it. I just wish my folks would stop treating me like I'm the only person who can do stuff around the house.

On the weekends, Mom does laundry. and sits in her recliner, watching tv, and cleans the kitchen. During the week, she'll sometimes clean the kitchen after coming home from work, and depending on the weather, walking the dog.

During the week, I usually end up cleaning the kitchen, occasionally vacuuming, sometimes getting Dad his deathsticks from Missouri, working on designs for avatar items, job hunting, keeping the dog out of trouble, and just trying to keep on top of my own health.

on top of all that, Dad smokes in the basement on the weekends, and the kitchen every night.

KittyBeary 02-22-2018 11:53 PM

I can't stand men like that, who believe that they can't do the housework because of old gender roles. x( Thankfully my parents have always both done the housework. Though my mom would do most of it, but my dad does the cooking. But then again my mom enjoys cleaning, since she can't stand things messy. I can't either though so *shrug*.

Serra Britt 02-23-2018 12:04 AM

If Den's mom did all the chores and Den's dad made all the money, I might agree with that considering there are no younglings to take care of. But even so, if the mom needs help, the dad should pitch in, without pushing it all on the child.

Really seems to need a change in dynamic there, since not everyone is happy with the arrangement.

Den 02-23-2018 12:11 AM

Thing is, Dad doesn't think there's a problem.

Tam I am 02-23-2018 12:26 AM

Sephy, I don't know if she could. She says there that she's got a little printer.

Den, your dad's excuse is lame. My grandpa did the vacuuming and the dishes.

Den 02-23-2018 02:00 AM

I know that, and mom does, it's just that Dad doesn't, and if we bring it up, he'll throw a tantrum.

mdom 02-23-2018 01:55 PM

My mom's the one who thinks men shouldn't do anything in the house. Even today!! It's crazy, like, my sister and her husband have jobs, but her husband works at home, since he does computer stuff that can be done remotely. And my mom asks my sister only if she's cooking and cleaning... and my sister is ??? I'm not the one at home all day mom ???

tsukiko 02-23-2018 04:55 PM

*gives warm hugs all around and tries to figure out how to do harry potter magic for everyone* xD

Serra Britt 02-23-2018 06:35 PM

As long as the household chores don't end up being done by indentured magic creatures. They'd need to be paid...something.

mdom 02-23-2018 06:54 PM

Socks!! =DDD

Serra Britt 02-23-2018 07:47 PM

lol mdom, I suppose that's one thing XD

Tam I am 02-23-2018 09:21 PM

*watches a sock crawl past*

tsukiko 02-23-2018 10:49 PM

ROFLMAO! no i was thinking of cleaning spells not slaves...although it does seem like certain dads could do with an enchantment or two...

Serra Britt 02-23-2018 11:11 PM

I could go for some self cleaning cookware. Would make cooking much more pleasurable if it didn't make a big pile of dishes to do afterwards XD

tsukiko 02-23-2018 11:35 PM

xD closest i've got is a gotham steel frying pan. it's amazing...

Serra Britt 02-23-2018 11:42 PM

Oh? It's easy to clean at least?

tsukiko 02-23-2018 11:47 PM

yes. it's like the infomercial xD my sister bought a whole set of red copper pans, i'm not really a fan of those. they are just as nice to clean, but they have rings on the bottom of all the pans as well as a colored "logo" in the middle which i've noticed has started to melt and warp with the heat. mine has a flat bottom that has induction dots to evenly distribute the heat thus cooking it faster/better.

*hugs* XD If only that could work.

tsukiko 02-24-2018 05:37 PM

i know right? i would duplicate myself so i could work and do fun stuff too....or use teleportation so i could move easily and/or visit my friends without shelling out thousands of dollars

Serra Britt 02-24-2018 06:08 PM

I think I'd be okay with functioning without needing sleep anymore.

tsukiko 02-24-2018 06:10 PM

awwww why? sleep is good *hugs*

Serra Britt 02-24-2018 06:45 PM

Maybe I'd feel sleep was less of a time sink if I didn't sleep alone XD

Den 02-24-2018 07:28 PM

I would love self-cleaning dishes, and if they'd put themselves away afterward, that'd be great, too.

tsukiko 02-24-2018 08:12 PM

@ serra LOL!!!!

@ den
yeh, i'd be just happy if i only had to do my own dishes...not everyone's. though what irks me more than doing everyone's dishes is when my sister leaves the dishcloths/sponges in the sink...in water...mildew-ing it up. GROSS! =_=

Den 02-24-2018 08:32 PM

I'm just tired of apparently being the only capable/competent adult in the house.

tsukiko 02-25-2018 12:41 PM

-hugs- i get it, den *nods*

Tam I am 02-25-2018 06:12 PM

Sleeping alone is the best. Even when the crazy action movie dreams happen.

*hugs Den and wishes I could help more*

Serra Britt 02-25-2018 07:33 PM

I don't like sleeping alone that much. But I also can't just sleep with anyone XD

@Den, it's a rough thing to deal with I'm sure...no easy solutions either.

Den 02-25-2018 09:15 PM

i know what I have to do, it's just a matter of getting the funds together so I can do what I have to do.

KittyBeary 02-26-2018 12:16 AM

Visiting friends that aren't close without shelling out the money to travel would be nice. ;u;

Serra Britt 02-26-2018 01:31 AM

I agree Kitty!

However, there are some friends where it's very much worth it, in my opinion.

Den 02-26-2018 01:46 AM

Indeed, there are. That's part of why I try so hard to get to one specific convention each year. the other part is 'cause it's a frickin' awesome Transformers convention that isn't just a Hasbro Product show.

KittyBeary 02-26-2018 02:27 AM

The farthest I've traveled for a convention was from central CA to southern CA. Though I'd love to go to an out of state con one of these days. Maybe in a couple years if I plan right.

Den 02-26-2018 05:27 AM

The only in-state con I went to was when I lived in south central Iowa and went to Eastern Iowa. Closest con to me is technically out-of-state, and an hour away...

tsukiko 02-26-2018 01:35 PM

i wish i could go to a con...never been :( never been to a concert either (i guess technically i've been to one, where i saw my high school's principal's son's band play. they were really awesome but idk if a local concert counts as going to one xD and the whole experience was shit. found out that i was a "pity-invite" and my so-called friends didn't even want me there...)

Tam I am 02-26-2018 03:41 PM

Serra, got to Costco and buy the giant teddy bear!

tsukiko 02-26-2018 03:47 PM

LOL! what giant teddy bear? i don't remember seeing one when i last visited a costco
