You ever look at Garfield without Garfield? Makes John lead a very pathetic life. With some oddities...

I had image of old My Little Pony hair where one person chops it all off and it grows right back with all the ponies looking peeved.

Serena Yuy 03-13-2012 03:16 AM

Yeah, without Garfield, the comic is kind of meh. Jon kind of is pathetic. Though what is funny is I met my boyfriend around the time Jim Davis had Jon and Liz start actually dating (instead of the occasional dates) :p

Quiet Man Cometh 03-13-2012 03:32 AM

I think it's actually pretty funny. Most of the time. I believe the guy that did the comic actually has a book out.

Yeah, he has a link to the pages you can purchase it. It seems amusing ^^

Quiet Man Cometh 03-13-2012 03:45 AM

In a dry way, yes.

My sister was a Garfield fiend. I'm a Gary Larson person myself. ;)

Asami 03-13-2012 03:48 AM

Um, I believe Jon makes a comment about cats shedding when warmer weather arrives. At which point, there's this great "whump!" (I believe that's the sound effect used) and Garfield is standing naked on the table next to a bug-eyed Jon with his fur piled around his feet. Garfield then turns to leave, thinking "mus' be spring." Jon is still bug-eyed.

Darnit! I swept the place after the last thread roller! *picks up push broom to sweep Asami off the floor*

Quiet Man Cometh 03-15-2012 02:58 AM

Whoops! Are we behind on memberhsip pms again? Busy all last week for me and not sure for DK. Send me the cat breed PM if you know it when withe DK or myself sets up your account we'll add the points in. :).

Serena Yuy 03-15-2012 03:14 AM

Oh we understand if things get busy. :) I know the next few days I'll be busy. My boyfriend works till 1.45 tomorrow and we have gaming tomorrow night, Friday he's out at 3, Saturday he's getting me after he gets out at 5 and I'm spending the night with him (I don't go on much there) and sunday we're gaming in the evening (sooo many table top rpgs ^^")

Quiet Man Cometh 03-15-2012 03:41 AM

I hardly ever get to play tabletop anymore. So many people are busy, that I'm really the only one with enough free time to make dungeons up so I'm usually DMing now, having been passed the torch from my older brother, who recieved it from my dad. I don't even play much online anymore. I need to figure out how to make short dungeons instead of ones that take all weekend in marathon runs.

Oh, and if it wasnt' obvious, we mostly play DnD. I have books from whitewolf but have never used them. I finally gave away my Vampire, the Masquerade and am not sure about my Werewolf, the Apocalypse. I tossed several third party (as in not Wizards of the Coast DnD) books that I've had for years but never used.

Serena Yuy 03-15-2012 03:45 AM

Oh I would go crazy in marathon runs. :( I go insane now and we play one game on thursdays (pathfinder), and one sunday we play dnd, and another sunday- legend of the 5 rings. I go insane because my friends are more of gamers than me and can sit and play for hours (including my boyfriend), but I cannot sit still and concentrate on one thing for a long time. I figit and get cabin fever being stuck inside for long periods of time. And it's gonna be worse now since it's getting warmer out now. Sunday we're gaming and it's going to be really nice.

Edit: Though I do have to say, out of the DMs I've had. My boyfriend is so far the best one. And he's only DM'd maybe 4 times.

Quiet Man Cometh 03-15-2012 04:06 AM

Little details between DMs can make for intersting experiences. I will pretty much let people try anything and make up a roll for it on the spot, whatever I feel is appropriate. I hardly bother to stat things out fully.

My sister on the other hand, will take anything said as happening (does keep the players paying attention). If the bard makes an annoyed coment about smacking someone over the head with a guitar, he smacks someone over the head with a guitar (even if there isn't one in the vicivinty, the player will find one). If the sorcer and contruct get in a tussle above a cliff with a lair on the bottom (this actually happened) and the sorcerer decides to push said contstruct over the edge (more of a big hill really) it happens, then he construct grabs the sorcerer on teh way down and rolls his 500 pound body overtop of him a few times. Bludgeoning damage.

My brother is a tech head. While my sister and I are pen and paper, photocopies and maybe some handdrawn stuff, he's computer generated maps, little animations and sounds, player icons and fog of war. Of course, that means it takes a long time for things to get made.

My brother and I are very thorough mappers, and plan out rooms in great detail; my sister tend to wing it half the time. Look! A randon pond and tree stuffed with flying snakes! That proceed to tear my backpack appart trying to get at the honey jar I picked out of from the bee-people hive. >.<

Serena Yuy 03-15-2012 04:57 AM

My boyfriend is usually pretty organised and has a general outline that he will put together when he's planning a game. He allows for the players to do whatever we would do as the character even if it veers off of what he originally would expect. With his most recent game, he thought that we would go right to the dungeon, he didn't expect us to go around and find out stuff from the citizens, but, he is able to quickly change things around. Same when we ended up turning it into a 2 session thing, he prepared different things just in case we had a change in character/player (which we did, one girl from the first night couldn't make it the second night and another girl was added since she ended up being able to come) He does pretty good with the stories he comes up with too ^^

One of our friends is ok as a DM. But there are some things which annoy both my boyfriend and I about him. We're supposed to be playing Pathfinder tomorrow, but the guy hasn't posted anything about it on the wall of our group page. He also hasn't gotten ahold of my boyfriend who is the Co-DM and talked to him about tomorrow. Then when we game, he isn't able to get us back on track when some of the players will go off on tangents (my boyfriend though is able to) and there was something that mike (my boyfriend) had told me that was originally going to be in our session last week, but our friend omitted it for the sake of getting through it. When Mike told me how he skipped it, we both agreed we were disappointed in that and that we wished the guy hadn't taken it out because it would have been awesome for character/story development.

The 3rd DM we have is my brother-in-law's wife (my boyfriend's brother's wife. Yes I refer to his brother as my in law. It's been 5.5yrs today)
She's pretty good. I do like the current campaign we're running of her's. I really don't have any critiques of her style since it's kind of similar to Mike, in the sense she has a general idea of what she wants to do, has it planned out, but also allows for flexibility if we do something different than what she assumes.
