If it makes you feel any better I don't have a Halloween costume, actually haven't for years because I couldn't afford to get/make one. ^^;

Tam I am 11-01-2014 08:44 PM

A pet? What does it look like?

It wasn't the looks I was laughing at. It was the name they gave it.

ml1201 11-01-2014 08:51 PM

Ah, okay. XD What did they name the pet? :o

Tam I am 11-01-2014 09:09 PM

This is him and his name.

ml1201 11-01-2014 09:12 PM

They named a phoenix Steve? XD No wonder you thought it was funny. XD I would have named him Nova. :3

Lawtan 11-01-2014 09:58 PM

I like the story, Tam :D

Thanks! :p-grin:

Why?

Lawtan 11-02-2014 10:11 AM

Well, for one, it mixes Sci-fi with the sort of 50's horror. For another, it has an interesting twist on the nombies (Meant to type zombies, but mistyping left this funny variation - NOMBIES! Nom nom nom). Finally, you leave on a semi-cliffhanger, which often good horror does to various degrees (and bad horror tries to do and fails).

Some "show, not tell" would help, as would splitting up the paragraph to make it more readable (one may help the other). In other words, describe the despair felt at the cries of babes and women shrieking out in terror over the frozen earth shadowed by near-endless nights, until they died away in the morn. Build up the paranoia felt by the farming family, by spoken words.

Lawtan!! *runs at you with outspread arms* I'm the most ravenous bookworm right now! I need some good crisp paper seasoned with lovely writing and thought your library would be just the place to find some!
*grabs Tam's story, stuffs whole into mouth* Mmm... Tam that was so CUTE! <3

Lawtan 11-02-2014 02:29 PM

*Bows* I bid you to enjoy my collection of public domain books to your heart's content.

*Is glomphed* You are most welcome

(Forgive me, but I have been writing, drawing, and listening to old Horror flicks where everyone talks like Vincent Price, Dracula, or screams xD)

*Flails* I am drawing the characters for my stories! Yes! Also, would it be bad taste to make a man with a deformed head, and wielding a whip made from a spinal chord...a medieval mechanic, horsemen, and a musician?

Tam I am 11-02-2014 02:35 PM

Lawtan, errr, could you show me what you mean?

LMBO! Thanks!

Den 11-02-2014 02:50 PM

I'm working on the first page of my comic... and listening to music on Spotify.

Lawtan 11-02-2014 03:29 PM

Umm, well;

That was what I meant. It was not really meant as criticism...more among the lines of "if you wanted to improve on the story...make it more of a short story...

ml1201 11-02-2014 05:01 PM

@Law
That's creepy. ^^;

Ohhhh. Nah. I didn't think it was criticism. I like feedback. I wasn't really thinking short story when I wrote it, but more the kind of thing you tell while sitting in the dark, or around a campfire.

Also, can you imagine writing something up on this?

Lawtan 11-02-2014 05:24 PM

I'd sooner use ye old label/sticker device...

Or an actual typewriter...

It's the I-Watch of the 1900's

LMBO!

Here's a whole page for the library. I never knew about these typewriters till today, when Den started asking what I thought of various models of old keyboard writers and I googled for pictures and found a reference to this page.

ml1201 11-02-2014 05:58 PM

There's one that looks like a pocket watch. XD

Den 11-02-2014 06:44 PM

It does, kinda. *chuckle*

One of the hardest things I've found so far in trying to translate my story into a comic is telling the story visually, and trying to figure out how to condense the scenes and moments into 3-6 panels a page.

ml1201 11-02-2014 07:18 PM

Have you tried looking at what other comics do with their plot? Actually, have you heard of 1/2 Prince? That originally started as a book and was then turned into a manga. I'd do a comparison of the two to see how the author had that done since it could help. :3 And I'd think you would only need to do that for the first few chapters.

Lawtan 11-02-2014 08:25 PM

Well, most comics I see sort of buildup via conversation and background events, to a single page or two of pure action...

Don't know if that would work or not.

Den 11-02-2014 11:15 PM

Two panels on the second page done... third panel's up... then I need to figure out the layout for the rest of the page.

daikokunyo 11-04-2014 05:44 AM

I'm sticking with words forever LOL.

ml1201 11-04-2014 11:36 AM

I want to make a mini comic eventually, but don't know if I'll ever actually get it done. x'D

Lawtan 11-04-2014 12:43 PM

I hope to one day do a comic as well...

ml1201 11-04-2014 12:50 PM

Would you be doing the art, or someone else?

Lawtan 11-04-2014 12:52 PM

Myself...

I am working on the storyline, but it is a complicated thing...

ml1201 11-04-2014 01:25 PM

Ah, neat! XD I don't actually have a story written out because I want it to be like a book, but I do have a story I want to write about an OC I have. It will be two parts and then go into a friend's comic. XD One of her OC's ends up marrying my OC. XD It's complicated, but she's a demon that serves as the head priestess for a god of this this (which is roughly the size of Japan) and he's a good, like she's a good demon, but the god didn't always like mortals, both humans and demons, but she was able to get him to see everyone has the potential to be good.

Den 11-04-2014 11:10 PM

>.> I found this on facebook: http://www.selkbagusa.com/Selk%27bag-Marvel.aspx

ml1201 11-04-2014 11:12 PM

I have no idea what that is? o.O

Lawtan 11-04-2014 11:13 PM

*Claps for Den*

I am about to fall asleep...I apologize if I can't keep up with everyone at the moment.

ml1201 11-04-2014 11:16 PM

It's okay, no biggy. XD

Den 11-04-2014 11:26 PM

Basically, they're sleeping bags you can walk around in.

ml1201 11-04-2014 11:33 PM

x'D
I'd rather have blankets I can bundle up in, but those would make for neat costumes. XD

Fauxreal 11-04-2014 11:42 PM

Crystallyn Whisper 11-04-2014 11:45 PM
