Fiyero 09-11-2011 07:13 PM

I just finished "A Lion Among Men" by Gregory Maquire

Wicked 09-11-2011 07:20 PM

Ooh Fiyero! I liked that story.. I love all of Gregory Maguire's takes on OZ and huh. Just hit me. Isn't your name the name of Elphie's prince? Very close to it if not it.

BraidedWonder 09-26-2011 06:23 PM

I just recently finished reading Lord of the Rings for the 30th or so time... Currently working my way through some cheesy romance novels my mom passed on to me...

TurtleSensei 09-26-2011 06:31 PM

Book one in the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin. I just re-bought the whole series and am re-reading it before I watch the show!

Auspicious Happenings 10-29-2011 03:09 AM

A thousand splendid suns. Awesome book. Love the author.

Pinkie 10-30-2011 01:35 PM

Um lets see the last book was warriors by erin hunty. its a full set of books lol

Kalei 11-03-2011 11:55 AM

Harpy Thyme by Piers Anthony, very punny that book.

Rem 11-04-2011 05:11 PM

Well the last book I finished that wasn't a re-read of something I already owned was probably...
oh man I can't remember if it was the last Hunger Games trilogy book (Mockingjay) or The Looking Glass Wars...
well either way, whichever it was, I didn't like it. xD
(I disliked both those books immensely.)

Suzerain of Sheol 11-04-2011 07:07 PM

I had to read White Noise for class. I've discovered a new loathing for the Postmodern (which I already hated beforehand...) Possibly the worst book I have ever read.

Quiet Man Cometh 11-04-2011 07:37 PM

Um...uhh...not sure. Been a while since I've actually finished a book since I am often reading several at once. It probably would have been The Magus by John Fowles. Interesting book but I personally thought it could have ended 160 pages sooner. I wasn't terribly interested by the conclusions.

I like modernism myself. Postmodernism bugs me in that it seems too focused on the realities of things where there's not even an attempt at suspension of dibelief or drawing the reader into a story. It's meta-everything.

DarkForbidden-Love 11-05-2011 03:37 PM

I just finished "Persepolis" By Marjane Satrapi. Interesting book; not sure it is up my alley though.

Arikana 11-12-2011 09:08 PM

Sadly the last book I finished would probably be The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. <3
I finished that back in May this year, and at the moment am part way through the second book of the series. :3

Kali_Namir 11-12-2011 09:42 PM

The Chronicles of Narnia Series.

I actually fully enjoyed it, well up to the almost too predictable ending that is.

Vanitas 11-13-2011 02:07 AM

Destined, a House of Night book. 9th book in the series.

Alpha 11-15-2011 01:03 AM

Hmmm....last book would have to be Star Wars 501st An Imperial Commando Novel. Good book and continues the series. Hoping that they continue to publish more.

Elf healer 11-16-2011 06:19 AM

The last book I finished reading is The Darkest Kiss from the Riley Jenson Guardian Series by Keri Arthur.

NessaRose 11-18-2011 03:33 PM

i read the book of a thousand days, it was a good book once you read on, the begging is kinda boring.

Daring Scylla 11-18-2011 10:04 PM

The one i just finished was the transcript of a play, Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House
i really liked it and thought it was an interesting comment on the portrayal of women in norway for the time.

Alpha 11-28-2011 11:26 PM

So, didn't really "finish" persay, but skimmed through and know the majority of Inheritance. Good book, story was interesting, as was the ending...except for the damn cliffhanger!

Dallas 01-10-2012 07:45 PM

A Dog's Purpose, I truly loved this book .

Quiet Man Cometh 01-11-2012 05:17 AM

Reading a few books and an omnibus. Does a short story in said omnibus count?

If so, that would be "The Tower of the Elephant" by Robert E. Howard.

Suzerain of Sheol 01-11-2012 09:13 AM

I just finished Scott Bakker's The White-Luck Warrior, a complete slog through the hell that is the human soul, eminently depressing, but possibly the best book I have ever read. I treasure authors who can make me truly feel something through their writing, even if it's abject misery. :p

Quiet Man Cometh 01-11-2012 09:23 AM

One of my English professors did say to the class that one cannot read Thomas Hardy's Jude the Obscure twice within ten years without committing suicide. We read Far from the Madding Crowd, supposedly his "happiest" book. I don't plan to read any more of his.

Alpha 01-11-2012 08:09 PM

I haven't finished yet, but am working on first book of the Night Angel Trilogy. It is called The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks.

Asami 01-13-2012 02:14 PM

the last book i finished would have to be entice i think.. either that or wings. i tend to read a lot of faerie books. i loved entice but im not a big fan of the whole wings series. it just doesnt appeal to me XD lol

Ducky 01-14-2012 04:58 AM

I just finished 'Lost Boys' By Orson Scott Card. The author is a Mormon, and the characters within were as well. I found this to be quite interesting, even if i don't agree with their way of life. It's also the first book to make me shed a tear.

Ashurato 01-14-2012 11:53 AM

I just finished Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer again.
So may people dislike that book, but I find it rather amazing.

Asami 01-14-2012 04:00 PM

I just finished dragons oath by pc cast and kristin cast
it was such a sweet yet short book. Only about 150 pages yet very small so it only took 3 houra tops

Airina 01-15-2012 02:37 AM

I just finished moon called by Patricia Briggs it was such a good book!!!!

Kit Katy 01-17-2012 02:51 PM

I finished the complete Hollow Fields series. It's such an interesting read, with its machinery and fascinating story line. I'm hoping the author will continue adding to it, but I understand if she decides not to.

DarkForbidden-Love 01-18-2012 09:25 PM

I just completed The Hunger Games. Many people were raving about it and I decided to see what the hype was about and found it sadly lacking.

Ducky 01-22-2012 01:23 PM

I have avoided reading the Hunger games myself. judging by its fan base I can be pretty sure it wont appeal to me, or be amazing at the least.

I just finished re-reading the Hobbit. I had forgotten so much of it..

Asami 01-23-2012 03:23 AM

i just finished reading entice by carrie jones XD now im waiting for the fourth book in the series. it should come out sometime this year...

Bafflebox 01-23-2012 04:22 AM

I most recently finished Worlds of Wonder - How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy.
I know that probably doesn't really count, but it was a very interesting read. :)

Rinni 01-24-2012 05:30 AM

"Zombie Combat Manual" by Roger MA

... can never be too prepared, yanno?

Airina 01-24-2012 10:46 PM

Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs! Amazing

elaine3305 01-25-2012 04:46 AM

The last book I've finished is The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore.
I found it as a good read, but other books I've read before this one has hit me with a greater impact.

Asami 01-28-2012 01:23 AM

the last book i finished is bones of faerie
