"That guys a creeper, can't you see that!?" Cy whirled on Ukeru. "He's not right! There's something off about him!"
"Oh, shut it! You don't know anything!" Ukeru snapped and Haru blinked in surprise as the white-haired young man teleported away without another word.
"That stupid little..." Cy sighed and slumped.
Arashi bit his lip and slipped over to the armor dealer, hanging his head and trying to make sure Cy didn't see him.
He bought the level 15 armor and used his inventory to equip it, before peering down at himself. He'd been wearing the beginners set up until now... the level 15 outfit was light blue and cute, but no where near as cool looking as the higher level outfits. |
"He does dumb crap like this all the time." Cy was suddenly right behind Arashi.
"Oh gosh!" Arashi gasped, spinning around and looking at the other.
People were staring and whispering - wondering why the MVP was talking to such a low level player. "When did you get here!?" Arashi squeaked, laughing weakly. |
"Before you showed up and tried not to get noticed." Cy replied.
"...Did you wait for me?" Arashi asked, trying to change the subject.
"I'm here, but that was because Ukeru showed up." Cyprian replied.
"Oh..." Arashi replied, turning back to the NPC and handing over some silver coins for a packet of 100 Mana and Health potions.
"You can tap into the guild funds if you make a record of purchase." Cy informed.
Arashi turned to blink at him. "Umm... I will remember that, thank you... I have plenty that Chris and Kris gave me, though. They are very kind."
"Try not to just say their names so much, I hate it when they use them." Cy sighed. "We're not supposed to be ourselves out here."
"Oh... Okay," Arashi said, frowning a little. "That makes sense to me..."
He shifted a little and said good-bye to the NPC - something Cy hadn't seen anyone do in a long time - before turning toward the other. "Thank you again for helping me," The boy told him, politely. |
"Do you talk to all the NPC's?" Cy smirked. "You know, some of them actually talk back pretty convincingly."
"I heard that the highest boss convincing," Arashi admitted, playing with the end of his long braid. "He's supposed to be the new boss in the upgrade that's coming out, but for now they have him wandering in town and sometims on other maps. Testing him out, I guess."
"You catch those rumors that they aren't having him do anything?" Cy smirked again. "That he's just wandering around on his own?"
"Oh gosh, yes!" Arashi laughed, lightly. "He's a program... that isn't possible."
"I know, but the newbs always like stuff like that." Cyprian almost laughed. "Besides...he doesn't act at all like a normal NPC...he doesn't act his 'role'."
"I was reading the plot hits behind the new update," Arashi admitted as they began walking along the river of water that ran through the town. "He's supposed to be a healer who lost his memories and was taken in and raised by monsters. Apparently he will heal your team randomly during the battle just before casting a skill that takes you down to 1 HP."
"It's part of a combo." Cyprian nodded. "He's an extremely powerful healer...he casts a spell that makes you count as undead before healing you so that his heal spells deal damage instead of reversing it. So he heals you to death."
"Which also makes it so that a healer's heal will cause you damage!" Arashi gasped. "Oh, that is awful! Very creative... but awful! This is going to require extensive research..."
He looked positively thrilled at the thought. |
"I hate to burst your bubble, but...the programmers really wanted a challenge and made the perfect one." Cy informed. "It's one thing to even have damage resistance...spells, items and skills help with that, even if it's magical, but...this is a status effect and there's not a really anything geared against it. Not only is it effective and near impossible to get around so you can heal yourself, it's damned hard to even prevent."
"There's a fix for everything!" Arashi assured. "And I'm going to find it!"
He laughed a little. "Not that I'd be high enough to take on that boss anyway..." |
"He's only for the elite." Cyprian nodded. "And most of them are pissing in their pants at his release. The Broken Memories expansion is gonna be mayhem when it's unleashed."
"Reminds me of when I was six and they released that WoW expansion... my cousin waited in line over night to get it," Arashi snorted. "I wonder if I can pre-order the expansion..."
"The Game is free, fuck World of Warcraft." Cyprian snorted.
"Agreed!" Arashi laughed before pausing and turning around, realizing that they had an entire group of new players following them.
Cyprian blinked at all the new characters before he sighed and looked at Arashi.
"You got a teleport ready?" He asked. |
Arashi nodded and they heard all the newbies whine as they teleported to the next town.
"God, I hate those clingy little twerps." Cyprian sighed- dusting himself off. "Oh, the put us in the Magic City, cool. You can buy Perks to get spells from other lists here."
"That's pretty cool," Arashi breathed as he took a seat by a fountain and touched the water, smiling at the cold and wet feeling of it.
"You gonna try drinking it next?" Cy chuckled. "You're such a newb."
Arashi's smile fell and he pulled his hand out, wiping it on his shorts. "Sorry..."
"It's fine, everyone does it sooner or later." Cy waved him off. "For now, we need a game plan. We have goal...a few of them."
"I'm still level 16," Arashi admitted. "I should go do some more quests."
He stood up and looked around, noticing a lot of the NPCs had quests for him to do. |
"Careful, most of these are higher than 16." Cyprian warned. "I'll have to come along and make sure you don't kill yourself."
"Really?" The long-haired boy asked, before he smiled softly. "Thank you."
Cy had to wonder to himself when they implanted a line of code to make eyes sparkle like real ones. Arashi was gone in a flash, gathering up the quests and chatting politely with the NPCs. He stopped, however, when one NPC went on and on about her daughter who was 'marrying the wrong man!', nodding sympathetically as if she were a real person telling him her woes. |
It was at this point that Cyprian had lost his composure and burst into laughter.
After a bit, Arashi seemed to realize that the NPC was repeating her story and cut in to bid her farwell, before moving over to Cy, his face red.
