Merskelly Metalien 03-20-2019 04:27 PM

>w> heheheh, I once took a tally of all the types of dirty dishes in my sink and calculated a predicted time at which I would finish washing them all, based on each dishes' specific washing-time and converting the seconds into minutes...;u; And I absolutely hated math class? xD Why brain??

trystan830 03-20-2019 04:28 PM

brains are weird. that's all i got XD

Merskelly Metalien 03-20-2019 06:15 PM

<x} Brains are weird! Hahah! I agree.

trystan830 03-20-2019 10:47 PM

yep, i know of what i speak, says the woman with the weird brain. XD

Merskelly Metalien 03-20-2019 10:58 PM

Oh wait. o.o The brain is responsible for thinking up responses and orchestrating the actions of visual communication via signals to type letters in the order to form words to form sentences with meaning, making a message...so,...0.0

Oh my gosh! OcO Am I the weird brain? I think I am, xD I don't have a weird brain, I AM the weird brain! Mind blown! x'D Brains are so weird! Haha

Quiet Man Cometh 03-20-2019 10:59 PM

Finished up Bunnicula meets Edgar Allan Crow. Not a lot of Bunnicula in there, but I do like the others. ;)

Reading I work at a public library now. Research. ;)

The past few days I've left work with new books. I've decided to investigate some graphic novels for my kids' bibliography, since I sort of overlooked them but they could be useful in getting a reluctant kid to actually read. The Zelda stuff is mostly on loan but I found the Majora's Mask GX.

I also picked up Cthulhu Tales, a YA graphic novel. Haven't read it yet but it looks modern (the characters have cell phones, for instance) so maybe some things were updated. I also discovered that there is a children's movie called "Howard Lovecraft and the Kingdom of Madness." He appears to have pet great old ones. Not sure. I do wonder what Lovecraft would have felt about being a cartoon.

trystan830 03-20-2019 11:01 PM

Merskelly - exactly!

Quiet Man - also check out notalwaysright.com for more fun and mayhem. XD

Merskelly Metalien 03-20-2019 11:06 PM

I should probably get back to my reading soon. <x}
I haven't read anything else on my list since those two volumes of Fruits Basket. Maybe I'll continue and finish Frankensteinnnnn. >3>

Quiet Man Cometh 03-20-2019 11:07 PM

The customer is never right! I hate that phrase with a passion I didn't realize until I stopped retail. Like I want to punch people in the face when I hear it. Probably because it tends to come with a &#%* grin that I want to smack into a policy manual a few times. It's really just code for "@%*$ole wants a power trip."

Pardon my rant.

Also, I notice that I've yet to actually read any of the books that started the year on my shelf. Still.

sorry, i giggled at your typo. and no, they're NOT always right.

my reading times are usually in the mornings mon-thurs, and at lunch all week (well, sunday is dinner time LOL)

Quiet Man Cometh 03-21-2019 09:43 PM

I find I'm reading through a fair amount on my break at work. Of course, I'm scoping out graphic novels and easy reads right now.

trystan830 03-21-2019 10:30 PM

i finished Navigating the Stars, and now i'm back to my Fellowship of the Ring reread

Quiet Man Cometh 03-23-2019 09:31 PM

Madly trying to find the right books for my bibliography. Forgot that I could read fairly fast, it's been a while. Kasey & Ivy is a book about a child's hospital stay, but I'm not so sure how I feel about it, given I'm inclined to reference my own experiences while reading.

Cthulhu Tales is kinda meh so far. A couple stories have been good, others feel sort of like regular horror with nothing particularly Lovecraft or Cthulhu feeling about them.

Tom Gates is amusing, good for the 'reluctant reader' set. I went back to get the first book but every single other one is gone.

I also picked up Bear Soldier because who doesn't want to read a juvenile fiction book about Wojtek?

trystan830 03-23-2019 10:53 PM

i love Lovecraft! some of my faves are Cool Air, the Outsider, and the Cats of Ulthar. =)

Quiet Man Cometh 03-24-2019 01:52 AM

I need to revisit the latter two. My favourite is The Shadow out of Time, and I've watched this Lovecraft youtube video commentating on Dunwich, Innsmouth, Call of Cthulhu, and Cool Air and it goes into his personal issues and the racism and such in this stories. I love it. It's fun. :D

I've been listening to audio stories before bed, because horror is great for that for some reason. I've liked one done of The Other Gods. I almost feel I should read my compendium again.

trystan830 03-24-2019 12:58 PM

i like most of Lovecraft's stories, but it's been a while since i've reread them. do you have a link to that youtube vid?

Quiet Man Cometh 03-24-2019 06:11 PM

It's a youtube channel called HorrorBabble, based out of the Uk.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIv...rKuFgR3W77fWcg

Not always fond of the narrators, but there's a lot of material there. I like that they have playlists by length.

Quiet Man Cometh 03-24-2019 06:46 PM

It occurs to me that maybe you meant the other video:

trystan830 03-24-2019 08:59 PM

heh thanks. yeah, the second one =)

Quiet Man Cometh 03-29-2019 09:39 PM

Reading through some Legend of Zelda manga now. Majora's Mask and the first part of Ocarina of Time. Not so easy on the eyes but I think that's because I'm still not sure how to read these right to left things. I have to keep correcting myself.

trystan830 03-29-2019 11:50 PM

so there was a book meme i posted on facebook the other day - grab the book you're reading, turn to page 56, and post the 5th sentence. when anyone posted, i asked what they were reading. one woman who answered was reading Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver, and when i looked it up on goodreads, it certainly sounded like something i'd read. then again, i do have Russian Doll on my list of shows to watch.... i've just read the prologue, but it does sound like a YA promising novel =)

Quiet Man Cometh 03-30-2019 02:00 AM

"Then do it!"

Not much of a 5th sentence, though it's hard to just what's a sentence in a comic filled with sound affects.

trystan830 03-30-2019 08:44 PM

ooh, true. but that's a fun sentence

Quiet Man Cometh 03-31-2019 11:18 PM

Has anyone read much Cassandra Clare? I see her around a lot. Haven't really been occupying myself with young adult right now so not really sure what she's all about.

Kaderin Triste 04-15-2019 02:35 PM

Wooo! Finally finished another book! Inly have to finish 3 more this month to get caught up...
XP

trystan830 04-15-2019 02:40 PM

yaay Kaderin!

i have only a few chapters left in the Fellowship of the Ring, then it's on to the Two Towers. and i'm sure i'll get an email from the library that the new Warriors book is available to me XD

Kaderin Triste 04-15-2019 02:49 PM

Probably could have finished another book yesterday, too, but decided to rearrange some furniture and got sucked into a bunch of shows on Netflix after that.

trystan830 04-15-2019 02:50 PM

so what sucked you in on Netflix?

Kaderin Triste 04-15-2019 02:58 PM

Several shows(mostly anime) that I had just a few episodes downloaded of. High Score Girl, Fullmetal Alchemist, Glee, The Office (finally got into it), and also the movies Unicorn Store and Spy Kids.

trystan830 04-15-2019 06:09 PM

i've heard of three of the shows and one movie. have only seen the Office. (and an episode of Glee because one of my actors was in it.)

Kaderin Triste 04-15-2019 08:46 PM

I really enjoy Glee because a.) MUSICAL! b.) It actually covers a lot of serious topics like equality for handicapped people, bullying, homosexual relationships, and transgender (to list the major ones I can think of off the top of my head) and c.) Jane Lynch
It's like high school musical only 50% less cheesy and 20% less predictable.
It's my first time watching it and I'm already on the last season (started it sometime last month).

trystan830 04-16-2019 12:31 AM

i mean, i know about the show, but i've only seen one episode, and honestly, i don't remember which of my actors was in the episode XD

Derpy McBlueEyes 04-16-2019 01:58 AM

Derpy waddles in and climbd up on Trystan's lap. "Read me story pwease?"

trystan830 04-16-2019 09:49 AM

oh hey there Derpy. want me to read the Fellowship of the Ring? i'm almost done! =)

Derpy McBlueEyes 04-16-2019 08:07 PM

"Yeah!" Derpy bounces excitedly for a few moments before settling down to listen.

trystan830 04-16-2019 08:11 PM

“It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

Merskelly Metalien 04-16-2019 08:25 PM

o.o *quietly slips in and sits to listen too* Ohhh, this is a good story. ovo

trystan830 04-16-2019 08:51 PM

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.
"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

Quiet Man Cometh 04-17-2019 12:50 AM

Is that the book or the film? ;). It's been a while since I've read it.

I returned all of my books! Except my one horror book. Including the stuff I wanted to actually read. Bibliography is done. Last test is written. One more paper to go before it's ALL done.

My anthology of classic horror is in transit, along with a copy of "The Conjuring." I've been making use of the library's collection of horror movies. I forget that they have a good pile of films etc. to borrow, and for free! Hopefully they're got season 3 of Bones.

Kaderin Triste 04-17-2019 04:10 AM

Another book done! Only 2 more to finish by the end of the month to get caught up!
XD

Awww....what a good boy, Derpy. Maybe we can start The Fellowship of the Ring next so you're not confused. 😃
Also, we should continue with the Redwall series! And the Edge Chronicles!
