nodnod thank you. it was a different technique than i'm used to.

http://img01.deviantart.net/d7d5/i/2...eus_kitten.png

i know that's only a sketch, but look at the bottom corner of the mad hatter and march hare? see what i mean about "companions"? i mean i know the whole thing looks like shit, but those 2 especially do!

Serra Britt 08-05-2017 09:43 PM

Just think about how much harder it is to add details when something is smaller. That might make it SEEM like it looks bad when it's really just missing the detail you might be used to.

tsukiko 08-05-2017 09:45 PM

or it might just be bad :P

http://img03.deviantart.net/4df4/i/2...eus_kitten.jpg

i did think these guys came out good, even though it's hand-drawn and colored via colored pencils....

Serra Britt 08-05-2017 09:51 PM

Let me tell you what I've learned on my journey to become an artist...our own art ALWAYS looks bad to ourselves XD

And I really wish my tablet would work properly without having to restart the driver every single time I wanted to use it >_<

tsukiko 08-05-2017 10:00 PM

oh mine does that too. drives me nuts!

http://orig12.deviantart.net/1543/f/...419504ba58.png

this one i liked...the phoenix xD the avi looks wonky

Serra Britt 08-05-2017 10:06 PM

You have such lovely art ^_^

I still think of mine as pretty flat and unrefined, but I'm working on it.

tsukiko 08-05-2017 10:10 PM

awww....i think yours is pretty too. i will say tablets make artists' lives much more easy.

http://i.imgur.com/wOFRjiC.png

this is the avi i did right before starting on yours. i think this one came out the best so far @___@ (though it was difficult not to put hair on it xD and the rainbow stripes were a new thing for me. it was fun layering on the colors)

Den 08-05-2017 10:14 PM

The only advice I can give y'all is keep drawing. Keep practicing the shit that pisses you off the most (For me, it's hands and proportions and not making my male characters look too girly or pretty). Keep drawing, until you want to light your sketchpad on fire, take a break for a bit, then come back and keep drawing.

Serra Britt 08-05-2017 10:16 PM

Wow that's beautiful! You really did well on the coloring!

I'm still slightly better at sketching with traditional stuff, but digital is so much easier and I really do love my drawing tablet.

I'm currently drawing eyes for a comic page XD

@Den, yes that's the idea definitely. I'm getting lots of practice with consistency because of it XD

Den 08-05-2017 10:17 PM

I wish I had a tablet. I do all my digital stuff with a mouse.

Serra Britt 08-05-2017 10:26 PM

It's not like that's terrible Den. I did some decent stuff with a mouse when I started!

There are some pretty inexpensive but still nice drawing tablets out there :)

tsukiko 08-05-2017 10:26 PM

i remember my art i did using just a laptop touchpad "mouse". it was not fun, but it didn't come out too terrible.

thank you, serra. i hope yours comes out great too T_T

Den 08-05-2017 10:27 PM

Wouldn't be an issue if I had a source of income. Right now, I don't really have one of those...

tsukiko 08-05-2017 10:28 PM

*hugs* :(

Serra Britt 08-05-2017 10:38 PM

-hugs for Din-

Thanks tsukiko ^^

tsukiko 08-05-2017 10:42 PM

*goes to try to remove marker/ink from a figurine*

Serra Britt 08-05-2017 11:21 PM

Okay, I sadly need to sleep. Will have to do shading/background stuff tomorrow.

Thanks for chatting tsukiko :) And thanks for the tips Din!

tsukiko 08-05-2017 11:33 PM

awwww, sleep well, serra. imma force myself to get your art done tomorrow. no whining about it, self....you hear me?!?! xD

Serra Britt 08-06-2017 10:16 AM

Yay art!

I'm a bit surprised I never made a hangout thread of my own outside of events. I appear to commonly attach myself to existing ones and talk there a lot XD

tsukiko 08-06-2017 12:16 PM

bwahahahahaa that's fine that you're using this one. the more the merrier ^___^

Serra Britt 08-06-2017 03:46 PM

This hangout is very comfortable too ^_^

tsukiko 08-06-2017 03:48 PM

i try to keep it chill

Serra Britt 08-06-2017 03:53 PM

Hence all the fur.

Obviously.

tsukiko 08-06-2017 03:55 PM

ROFLMAO! nice one xD

Serra Britt 08-06-2017 03:59 PM

I like to believe my pun smithing is enough to heat up a room ^^;

tsukiko 08-06-2017 04:06 PM

xD possible

Serra Britt 08-06-2017 04:12 PM

Part of my pride as a writer, I guess XD

tsukiko 08-06-2017 04:35 PM

*nodnod*

okay...sad news, i WANT to do your art, but my tablet pen (the writing part) isn't responding anymore. it was when i drew my rocks this morning...then my cat got a hold of it i guess...the eraser works, just not the other side. granted, i've been having issues with the whole thing as it's like 7 years old and had umpteenth things spilled on it. tried finding a new pen on ebay, but i'm not going to pay about $70 to get one from australia...for just the pen =_= going to try to color it in via mouse, but my hands cramp up badly after awhile *sighs and starts to cry* this just hasn't been a good day...

Serra Britt 08-06-2017 04:53 PM

-hugs tsukiko-

That sucks so much. Don't worry about it on my account. There's no hurry and there's no point in getting cramps to draw something that has no time limit.

Hope either your pen starts working again or you can find a viable replacement...

tsukiko 08-06-2017 04:55 PM

i put a bid on a whole new one, it ends in a week. i don't really have the money for it, but *shrugs* maybe i can ask my mom to help with half or something, as it would be an investment should i decide to actually try to make money with my art.

Serra Britt 08-06-2017 04:58 PM

Hope so!

I bought my tablet for $40 and it's a pretty decent one even if I have to restart the drivers every time.

tsukiko 08-06-2017 05:14 PM

i bought this one for about $110 at best buy, was the cheapest they had that was decent sized. but as i said, it's at least 7 years old...the first accident with water killed the mouse, tried to find a replacement and couldn't find one (i had been using the mouse as just a mouse, so i had to go find a mouse for the computer). the pen had been touchy since then, but still worked. then it sat in the box for like...idk 5 years? i just pulled it out to do carnival arts here and the pen was working fine aside from having to reset the stupid thing every so often. now..i have bite marks as proof of stupid boris getting it and playing with it. BLARGH!

and if i lived in denver, i could have gotten a blue wacom tablet a model or two older than my current one...for $10, off craigslist @____@ but i don't have a way to get to them....

Serra Britt 08-06-2017 05:23 PM

Awwww. I heard Wacom was really good for tablets.

I've been using a Turcom TS-6608N that is very inexpensive on Amazon right now. There's no eraser on the pen and sometimes I wonder how stable the pressure sensitivity is, but for the price I think it's amazing XD

tsukiko 08-06-2017 05:51 PM

hehehehe

wacoms are amazingballs....if you don't have cats dumping shit all over them or playing with the stylus xD

Serra Britt 08-06-2017 07:51 PM

If I find one for a reasonable price, maybe I'll try and snag it then XD

tsukiko 08-06-2017 08:28 PM

*nods* some day, i'd like to get one of the newer ones. there are 3 for sale on the craigslist in my town, all between $325-375 =________=

Serra Britt 08-06-2017 09:19 PM

You mean like one of the ones that you draw directly on the screen?

At the moment, I'm resizing a comic page and writing a blurb for my webcomic update.

tsukiko 08-06-2017 09:26 PM

umm idk about those, but the ones these folks had were an upgraded version of what i've got. more than likely wireless too...which would be fantastic @___@

and yay for getting shit done! hehehhee

Serra Britt 08-06-2017 09:32 PM

I haven't missed an update yet!

I have a wireless pen at least which is good. I'd just settle for a tablet where I don't have to restart the driver every time I have to use it ^^;

tsukiko 08-06-2017 09:42 PM

i wonder if you uninstall the drivers and then do a new install of them if that would kick its arse into gear?
