which will probably be post #4 then. =)

my goal is always the same - try to read more books than i did the year before. and since this year i've read 44 (so far) out of a goal of 32, i did well. =)

That's pretty impressive! I have read (or will have read by the end of the night) 20 out of 30 books. With 7 others in progress. I don't think I actually made my goal of 24 last year, but I was close. So I though I could manage 30 this year. Bad plan. I might try for 25 next year. And will probably increase by 3-5 each year that I succeed, but drop down to the previous year's goal if I fail.

thanks!

and that's with all my crocheting too =)

That makes it even more impressive. I spent too much time sleeping and being generally exhausted to actually even work on my loom knitting, let alone read. Especially after I picked up my second job. But I don't plan on doing any custom orders or other things with deadlines for at least aa couple years, so I can take my time and pace myself better with my crafts and my reading hopefully.

trystan830 11-20-2017 09:32 PM

i usually read when i have breakfast at my mon-thurs job - for about an hour or so in the morning. sometimes i'll read during the first part of my lunch, while i'm eating. then i crochet for the rest of lunch. at night after dinner, i'll crochet and play on my laptop and/or watch tv. i also have a stitch-n-bitch i go to thursday nights.

during the weekend, when i'm at my retail job (michael's) they only schedule me for 4 hours, so when i'm done at 1 on friday and saturday, i'll stop at a fast food place for lunch... and i read. sunday i'm done at 6 or 7 or 7:30, so i stop for dinner... and read. then when i get home, i crochet. XD

if i'm hooked on the book, sometimes i'll sit at my table and read before moving to my yarn corner (which is also where my laptop is too)

i don't read in bed cause i know i'll fall asleep. XD

I tend to have trouble focusing or getting interested in my loom knitting and reading...and anything except sleeping a lot lately, but I hope to get back into some of my books and crafting soon-ish. I think once the holidays are over and work at both jobs settles down some, it will be easier to get sufficient sleep to actually have energy again.

trystan830 11-21-2017 09:49 PM

yeah, energy is a good thing. =)

I just finished Hybrids by Robert J. Sawyer, the end of the Neanderthal Parallax and I must say I was a bit disappointed in the end.

I am on an excellent clip this year, I've read 64 books already! My challange was 40, so I have surpassed my challenge.

trystan830 11-25-2017 11:58 PM

thought i'd do some light reading: War & Peace, by Leo Tolstoy is my current book XD

Moonshadow 11-26-2017 12:07 AM

I loved War and Peace! I skipped the war parts tho.

trystan830 11-26-2017 01:05 AM

heehee!

as it turns out, there's a section out of the middle that's the basis for the musical The Great Comet*, so i kinda wanted to read it. XD

And the trudge through my research paper begins! Half finished in draft form. Reading a fair bit but it's spotty and all over the place. Still, video games!

When I'm done this (and finished my NaNo short story) it's back to actual novels.

Moonshadow 11-27-2017 12:00 AM

I just started No Thoroughfare written by Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins. It is actually pretty good.

i see what you mean - i'm skimming the war parts! XD

Kaderin Triste 11-27-2017 08:39 PM

Lol.
One day I, too, will attempt War and Peace! XD
I will also attempt to read Les Miserable one day. I tried it once in high school, but was never able to get through the first chapter. Oh, and Don Quixote. I did get at least part of the way through it, but I just didn't have the focus or the time to get all the way through before it was due back.

trystan830 11-27-2017 09:06 PM

i have the unabridged Les Miserables. i might try that again next year. XD
