why? they're getting laid off by droves, it's scary as hell, cause apparently no one realizes that without teachers there are NO OTHER PROFESSIONS. Always bugged me since both my parents were teachers at points in their lives.....

I'm not using the degree I did get - never have. If I had gotten a teaching degree, I might have a career. I don't know about teachers getting laid off. The ones here strike every three years for more money.

I know of five states that are laying off teachers, some districts more than others. If you're really interested it's usually not hard to get a teaching certificate once you have a degree. Contact your local DoE and ask what they require, you might be able to teach.

It so sad. . . .Teachers in life are important but no takes school seriously any more.

I live in Pennsylvania. Hummm. I wonder if I can get a teaching license without having to go back to school.

You should be able too, unless they require you have a teaching minor...some states do, but you should be able to find out on-line as well through your .gov page. My bf was getting her teaching license out here and all she had to do was pay a fee, get fingerprinted and do one class which they would have paid for.

I must take a peek at the requirements for my state soon.
