Well I would but this restaurant is pretty important to me so I would like to try to do both. There's only three of us running it and it would put quite a bit of pressure on the boys if I moved away.

Tohopekaliga 08-20-2012 04:38 PM

Ahh, okay. I understand. :)

It's nothing useful, unfortunately. I got my bachelors in history. I'd have to focus on either legal, teaching, or museum work.

Unless I went back to undergrad for another degree. @w@;

Mal Kapwn 08-20-2012 04:41 PM

Why did you do something that you don't think is useful?

Tohopekaliga 08-20-2012 04:44 PM

Well, a past boss of my mom's told her (rather defensively) that it doesn't matter what kind of degree you have, so long as you learned from it, and learned critical thinking and all that.

It apparently worked okay for that guy. His degree was "Folklore and Mythology," and he was a high level exec at Disney. (I think he still is...not sure.) Of course, he started out at Disney as something like a horse-poo scooper behind a parade. XD

Well, I enjoyed studying it, and planned to specialize at some point, but I switched majors because I was good at something more useful. Then, when I got into the intermediate classes, I sucked hardcore (not a sciences guy). I switched back in a hurry and had to complete my core to get my degree. I graduated with honors, but didn't get to specialize properly.

That makes sense. It's hard to find a college online that's accredited. I don't see any point in using one that's not.

Tohopekaliga 08-20-2012 04:52 PM

Well...most online courses tend to suck, so it follows that most online colleges do, too, and are therefore unaccredited.

Mal Kapwn 08-20-2012 04:55 PM

Do they really? Bummer. Even just the basics?

Tohopekaliga 08-20-2012 04:58 PM

Well, I've only taken a couple of online courses, but they were quite bad.

...It didn't help that the subject matter was largely needless fluff to fill requirements.

I suppose my opinion could be skewed quite a bit, but, yeah.

Mal Kapwn 08-20-2012 05:04 PM

Hmmm. That actually doesn't sound too bad. Not that I don't want to learn -- but if it's that easy, the first four years wouldn't be too bad.

Tohopekaliga 08-20-2012 05:06 PM

:P Keep in mind that I didn't go to an online college. I just had a couple of basic gen-ed courses that were online.

For me, it's the getting up early. I get sick easily when I get up too early. x.x

Tohopekaliga 08-20-2012 05:09 PM

Ah, I see... Yeah, the whole "getting up" thing is the real problem, I suppose. It's just that I'm getting up because of work!

I do a lot of grumbling and shrugging off my wake-up alarms.

Mal Kapwn 08-20-2012 05:14 PM

I get up early to make sure the kids get on the bus alright -- I'd rather get up early than drive them to school! lol

Tohopekaliga 08-20-2012 05:16 PM

Haha, I'm sure. :P

I don't have kids, so I don't have to deal with that type of thing.

I'm enough of a kid myself, with my silly toys and things laying around. XD
