OnO it would ruin the papers.
good thing I know 土 (do) / earth thanks to the days of the week thing but I was still practicing 光 (hikari) / light >x< those are kanji a day papers ouo |
Dang - I should do that on my wall. Minus the kitty scratches.
xD the cat is the only thing really holding me back. ouo thanks to these I'm doing pretty good memorizing them.. that and the white bored that is supposed to be where the torn paper is xD the white boards sticky stuff doesn't stick so i just gave up and its on the floor ._.,
I just haven't found the inspiration. And for some I'm crazy busy but still have nothing to do. Wacky.
you know..
boku is supposed to be a boy only term for I.. girls who use it are often kinda frowned upon yet.. I hear many female sings use it a lot more then males oxo |
I had noticed that too, but I found out that "boku" is only masculine in speech. It's also used poetically more generally.
I prefer using Boku more then atashi but.. everyone always yells at me ;n;
In speech that makes you look like a MAJOR tomboy -- almost butch. It's sort of rebellious.
well I am a tomboy x'D
But are you a rebellious, stick-it-to-the-man, defy-society kind of tomboy? Or just one that doesn't care so much about being girly?
everyone would claim i'm rebelious..
I like cute things like kitties and fluffy.. i don't like dresses or care much for accessories or make up *unless the accessories have skulls or spikes <3* I hate it when people tell me to 'not be me' because so and so doesn't like that. my hairstyle and eyebrow peircing my family considers rebelious.. me .. I just like it this way ._., screw their thoughts on a eyebrow ring and emo'ish spiked hair.. |
I don't think that would make you rebellious.... I think if you were doing it to piss them off and only for that, then you would be rebellious.
and there is an app out there that will quiz you on your kanji. I don't think you would have a touch phone, but it is out there.... my boyfriend has it, it's nice. |
Doing it just to intentionally be different from the norm would count, regardless of whether or not the intent is to defy any individual person.
really? even if you just like the way it looks no matter whom might think it's weird
like the way it sounds since words have no looks :3
I like boku cause it sounds cooler then 'atashi' =w=, |
Go ahead and use it. Just be aware you're flaunting societal norms and you'll be lumped into the same group of people who ride skateboards down the rails at subway stations.
First i thought it was a typo but isn't Watashi?
"Watashi" is the "proper" way of saying it. Many girls use "atashi" as feminine, informal slang.

Watashi - proper/formal atashi - feminine boku - boyish ore - manry xD are there more then this? |
There's "watakushi" which is EXTREMELY formal -- this is what you use when you say "I, <insert name here>, do solemnly swear" kind of statements. Gender-neutral.
There's "washi" that's getting rather old-fashioned (the stereotype is that only elderly men use it). There's "ware" which is almost as formal as "watakushi" and largely a matter of literary style although you'll occasionally come across someone who uses it in speech. Technically available to either gender, but more common in men when it comes to media (as the level of formality it would imply tends to result in "watakushi" among shrine-maiden-type women). There's "waga" and its derivatives that are very old-fashioned; these days they're only used when making big speeches. There's "atai" which is further contracted from "atashi", and therefore even more informal. Typically feminine. There's a whole slew of various dialectical slang that I won't enumerate, as well as a ton of archaically old-fashioned ones that are pretty much exclusive to period-style literature in current use. |
so many @-@... i'll stick with boku xD
Yeah, there have been some linguists who argue that they shouldn't even be called pronouns because they don't work the same way as they do in western languages. They carry a lot more information (the studies call it "semantics") than western-language pronouns and don't get used nearly as often.
As long as you remember to switch to "watashi" when you need to be polite, you'll be fine. |
of course ^_^ always be polite to people you are unfamilar with and meet for the first time. be casual with friends :3
meaning with you I can use boku, with new people who enter the thread i use watashi ^-^ |
( has caused Coda's brain to implode out of frustration )

I don't know if you guys care for this tid-bit of information but Konpeito is made by putting a piece of rice into a turning pot and covered layer by layer of sugar for five days, and on that fifth day that is when it gets it's little bumps. Also you can freeze onigiri.
i don't even know what that is. I'll google it tomorrow ouo but if it looks tasty i'll try to make it

it's star candy... It's like Rock candy but in yummy star form!
