do not noms your tongue, it is not tasty

Yokuutsu 09-24-2011 09:53 AM

Totally random, but something is making me angry.

I hate it when other people don't post in my rps for days, but I know for a fact that they're replying multiple times in other rps. Now....if they had said something....that's different, but they haven't and that annoys me.

littl3chocobo 09-24-2011 09:59 AM

dude /all/ of mine are like that^^:

Yokuutsu 09-24-2011 10:04 AM

That's how almost all of mine are now.

And it makes me just want to stop checking them and say screw it....except then I'd just be sitting here watching tv. There would be no point in my computer unless one of those self-assessment things were due for a class of mine.

littl3chocobo 09-24-2011 10:07 AM

yeah, i'd be down to unicreatures and commisions^^: i need an addict for an rp buddy, checking 2-4 times a day and getting 0 activity sucks

Yokuutsu 09-24-2011 10:14 AM

I check more than that since it is literally all I do...except checking a few games on facebook...which is a max of a few minutes at a time.

littl3chocobo 09-24-2011 10:15 AM

well can you write in third person past tense?

Yokuutsu 09-24-2011 10:17 AM

I always do third person....I don't know what tense...-goes to check- Normally I do present tense... .-.

littl3chocobo 09-24-2011 10:20 AM

^^: are you only able to do that? i cannot write anything but past and absolute

Yokuutsu 09-24-2011 10:34 AM

I wouldn't stop you from writing past tense. I personally don't care what tense people write in.

littl3chocobo 09-24-2011 10:35 AM

^^: i sorta do, it's consistency really, if it looks too disjointed it messes up story flow

Yokuutsu 09-24-2011 10:36 AM

Well then, too bad.

Because if that's going to keep from the rp...then it's not worth it in my mind. So good luck on finding someone else.

littl3chocobo 09-24-2011 10:38 AM

wow, haha, i've never been turned down over a request for bare-bones literacy before, if nothing else that did cheer me up

Yokuutsu 09-24-2011 10:42 AM

I have been turned down just because of the tense. And the person didn't mention the tense thing before we started rping.

Another person said no because my posts weren't long enough when they were a hell of a lot longer than any of my post had ever been. And she didn't like my post style beyond that and wouldn't understand why I rp in present tense. It doesn't matter what tense....the person you rp in? That matters a bit. First person would kinda ick me out. If I wanted to be me....I wouldn't be rping.

So I'd rather nothing like that happen again. That shit pisses me off so bad. They did not mention it upfront.

-minrant complete!-

littl3chocobo 09-24-2011 10:51 AM

i see, personally i get that out of the way in the beginning, it's only right to cover your do-and-do-nots all up front; tense, genre, pairing(if applicable) and availability

though i could never knock a person for post length unless they were a chronic one-liner, just like a real convo or story sometimes short and sweet is the way to go and sometimes you need to pack your wall climbing gear, it's anyone's guess when is the appropriate time for any particular length until it's time to write

i'm not into first person either for the same reason, it's too reflexive, but to be honest the /only/ reason i did not grab you or uze from the beginning is tense, past tense is the easiest to write in and it makes for a clean read, if its so ugly and tangled as to discourage a second read or worse, /need/ a second read to be understood, what is the point? too few can write in current tense anyway and actually do a good job and none of those people do it for free haha

Yokuutsu 09-24-2011 11:06 AM

And I find that present tense is easier because in theory...the things in the rp are happening as I type them and press enter (or as you are reading the post) and so (for me) shouldn't be written in past tense. And if I have to work to put in past tense (or to crank out five billion paragraphs because that is someone's lower limit on post size) the rp isn't worth it. It wouldn't be fun which kind of defeats the point. I'm not working harder than I do on essays for classes LOL

Not that I'm saying past tense or 5 billion paragraphs are wrong or whatever...that's just my POV on it .-.

And at least you do say it up front instead of letting the rp start and depress me by it .-.
