I often pronounce every single letter in a word. Like with herb I prononce the h and it is the same way with heir. It is because I taught myself mostly how to read so I had no idea I was learning it wrong and no one corrected me until I started high school.

well technically you're not wrong, you're just not pronouncing it 'american' style. We tend to brutalize most words. I know I drive people nuts cause I spell with a bit of a british flair in words like colour, flavour and behaviour. And to this day I want to pronounce garage as the brits do. Helps that my second grade teacher was in fact British and I wasn't living in the US at the time.

littl3chocobo 09-20-2011 09:29 PM

same as love only in middle-shcool

DarkForbidden-Love 09-20-2011 09:34 PM

I have collected the oddest range of words because of my self taught reading. I'm also probably one of the few people who uses old English in the same sentance as present day slang. I also used to use loo and other common British words in my speach and everyone would stare at me and ask, "What?" I still to this day call soccor 'football' though.

littl3chocobo 09-20-2011 09:36 PM

haha, i can do you one better i read fiction as well as fact so i learned shit like skivvies and eugenics totally out of proper context, i still get stopped for calling people peachy hahaha

DarkForbidden-Love 09-20-2011 09:48 PM

I call situations peachy not the people themselves. Aren't skivvies pants? I have absolutly no idea about the eugenics though. I also never said the words 'I'm sorry' until middle-school, I had always used the Latin Mea culpa(My fault) instead because I thought it was English.

Fey 09-20-2011 09:55 PM

LOL skivvies are underwear, and I was raised overseas a lot so I tend to use words from other languages. we never said 'please' and 'thank you' in english, just in german, so I got weird looks when I woudl say Danke Schone and Bitte Schone to everyone(and couldn't find the blast umlauts, so they're implied)

Yokuutsu 09-20-2011 11:37 PM

Crazy and weird can be the same thing.

Because crazy is not normal...which is why it is called crazy...but weird also means you are abnormal...just to a lesser degree than crazy.

Fey 09-20-2011 11:50 PM

LOL we've already been over, around and beside that, and I'm still sticking iwth the fact that I can be weird, crazy and insane all at once and not be repeating myself LOL
