littl3chocobo 09-09-2011 09:56 PM

Feythfull 09-09-2011 10:06 PM

you miss nothing Quiet

Quiet Man Cometh 09-09-2011 10:12 PM

But it does feel odd to comment on something when the topic has been gone for a few pages.

I'm being hailed to go and have some Chinese food. There's duck!

littl3chocobo 09-09-2011 10:15 PM

as long as the poster is still in the thread no worries^^

Feythfull 09-09-2011 10:19 PM

yeah I feel weird adding to a conversation thats now over.
I have never had duck

littl3chocobo 09-09-2011 10:20 PM

what does quiet feel when they hear about lactose intolerence?

Quiet Man Cometh 09-09-2011 10:35 PM

I love duck. Very oily because of theh fat content and definately has it's own flavour. Does not taste like chicken. I can cook it myself and like to make it with a fruit sauce but Chinese barbequed duck is good too. Very crispy. :).

Don't feel much about lactose intolerant, not an issue I have but one a few friends have. I hear lamenting over cheese but goat is lactose free isn't it? Friend goat cheese on salad is really good. :)

littl3chocobo 09-09-2011 10:36 PM

i actually don't know, i should look that up sometime

Serra Britt 09-09-2011 10:38 PM

My mom is completely lactose intolerant, so I'm just waiting for it to start on me. I'm not looking forward to that ><

My experiences with duck haven't been that great though I hear it's good. Last time I tried to cook it...it turned out horribly :/

littl3chocobo 09-09-2011 10:39 PM

duck is hard to cook, it's very fatty

Feythfull 09-09-2011 10:44 PM

i had goat once but not duck

Quiet Man Cometh 09-09-2011 10:44 PM

Yup, and most of the meat is in the breast but we found some good ways. I usually just cut the breast off the carcass and cook those. I drain the fat off twice from the frying pan before putting it in the oven to finish. Takes care of the extra fat. Cooking a whole duck one method is to puncture the skin over the breast and cook the bird breast side down above a pan so it doesn't get soaked in fat and stays crispy.

To my knowledge, goat's milk is maltose based, like human milk. Cow milk is lactose based and needs to be converted by enzymes in the body so it can be used. People who are lactose intolerant lack the enzymes needed to convert lactose into a usable sugar, or so I've heard. Humans apparently were never meant to eat lactose sugars, but with cows milk we evolved to be able to tolerate it.

Serra Britt 09-09-2011 10:48 PM

Yes, my roommate didn't believe it when I told him that the majority of people on Earth are lactose intolerant.

I think I didn't know what I was doing with the duck and cooked it like chicken. Big mistake I guess xD I hear duck fat is great for cooking with though.

Quiet Man Cometh 09-09-2011 10:56 PM

I don't know if it's the majority, unless we're talking certain ethnicities where it might be prevalent, but it's hardly unusual.

Duck fat is really popular to cook with apparently, especially in French cooking.

Feythfull 09-09-2011 11:01 PM

well considering we aren't meant to drink cow's milk I would believe you Serra.
Cows milk is for caves!

Serra Britt 09-09-2011 11:05 PM

Well yes, some ethnicities it's more prevalent, which makes the world-wide population more lactose intolerant than tolerant.

Quiet Man Cometh 09-09-2011 11:17 PM

We aren't goats either but whatever works ;). We live too long for our own good. We would probably not have calcium issues and such and actually need or want to drink milk beyond childhood if we still had to deal with predators and the usual threats in the natural world.

Demonskid 09-10-2011 12:15 AM

you guys lost me x.x

Serra Britt 09-10-2011 08:48 AM

We do live in relative safety now after all Quiet.

Anyways let's change the topic to, uhhh....

Well I'm not quite sure to what xD

littl3chocobo 09-10-2011 08:53 AM

to shark fishing!

Serra Britt 09-10-2011 08:56 AM

To shark....fishing? Can you do that safely?

littl3chocobo 09-10-2011 08:58 AM

it is not safely that matters but legally, do you think shark fishing should be legal?

Serra Britt 09-10-2011 09:15 AM

Legally that would tie into safety though. If it's a danger to others who could be nearby it would impact any legal argument. Though I don't really see a problem with it myself...

littl3chocobo 09-10-2011 09:24 AM

it does not

personally i am against it, most all of the sharks hunted are endangered or nearly exstinct entire ecosystems are being decimated and most of the fish is wasted, most are chopped up and tossed back or as in 'sport' wore near death then released to die

Serra Britt 09-10-2011 09:32 AM

That's done with fish that are legally fished for too. How many trout, bass, and the like are caught for sport and not for eating after all? Just because it's legal or illegal won't stop it from being done.

I didn't know the commonly hunted sharks were endangered though, knowing that I'd have to be against it being made legal.

littl3chocobo 09-10-2011 09:35 AM

but those fish can be brought back in fisheries sharks cannot

yeah^^: as food sport or pets sharks are getting destroyd so fast and the take twice as long as we do to breed and several breeds only have one ofspring

Serra Britt 09-10-2011 09:43 AM

It's a shame that people don't always look at long term results of their actions. Sharks are important too.

littl3chocobo 09-10-2011 09:45 AM

but even seeing it most only look at profit, but yes it is a shame cute shit isn't all that should be saved^^;

Serra Britt 09-10-2011 09:51 AM

It's that perception thing. It's much easier to sell something to a common person if it's cute and lovable. Which is a shame in a way :/

littl3chocobo 09-10-2011 09:57 AM

for sure^^:

Serra Britt 09-10-2011 10:17 AM

Gah, thought I was posting somewhere else :p

I hope people eventually realize what they are doing to the world.
