That's amusing. I usually roll Rogue/healer.
SparX joins your party after you run into her while she's fighting off a huge mob of enemies, cutting several down with each strike of her bladed guitar. She's not one to be underestimated: as the primary DPS powerhouse in the party, she can change the tide of battle in an instant's notice. |
In the first game of a cybergoth Saints Row-Styled game, Espy is one of the best hackers in the city and in the hire of a rival gang. In fact, one of the most difficult parts in the game according to players is when Espy hacks into your own security system and turns the entirety of your home base against you. He's not one of your stereotypical "Pasty basement-dwellers" though, and can actually hold his own in a physical fight with his custom-made stun staff. In fact, near the end of the third act, you fight him one-on-one.
After a cataclysmic event around the end of the first game, all the city's gangs are shattered and you are picking up the pieces. Espy is one of the first ones at your side, needing a new customer and realizing that it would be good to start with an enterprise from the ground level for more power later on. He ends up becoming one of your greatest allies even in later games in the series. |
-hides face- Are you /trying/ to make me blush?
In potentially the same cybergoth game, you're first introduced to Keyla through a series of cryptic messages that at first seem to be just a series of random locations and words. You visit the locations and find nothing of interest there, save for the fact that all of the places seem to have advertisement screens. On closer inspection, the seemingly-random words are actually passcodes that grant you access to important messages from Keyla, leading you in what seems like a wild goose chase around the city. Eventually, you find yourself in a derelict building in the inner city, and meet Keyla face-to-face. She introduces herself as the best thief the city has ever seen, brokering specifically in information and secrets, and offers her assistance in exchange for taking care of a hit squad who have been on her tail for far too long. Once her loyalty is secured, she becomes a valuable addition to the team, especially in NPC persuasion/coercion attempts. Her disarming charm and outward innocence makes it all too easy for the rest of the squad to obliterate the enemy before they even realize anything's off. |
Espy is a fun NPC that looks super threatening but is actually a good natured person who helps you in your quests. But you can't ask for his gun or he'll be mad.
Mdom is the main character of a happy, lighthearted platformer. Her main abilities are her high jumps, and summoning different animals to solve various puzzles.
Isis is that treasure chest trap you're going to open because that's what silly adventurers do--go raiding treasure chests. Then Isis the mimic-chest's cat friend springs out from the now-opened mouth and steals some of the adventurer's coins before quickly running back to Isis. Now Isis runs over the hill and out of sight, leaving the poor adventurer a few coins lacking.
Potironette is giver of ultimate quests, The last one you have to impress to be able to complete everything fully. The one WHO ULTIMATELY TURNS ON YOU TO DESTROY YOU AND IS ACTUALLY THE BIG LAST BOSS OH GOD NO YOU WILL NEVER SURVIVE AHHHHHHHHH----------
SparX is the self-proclaimed guardian of a certain dungeon rumored to hold treasures for whoever makes it all the way in and out. Clearly, based on the number of skulls SparX is sitting on, few--if any--adventurers have conquered the dungeon.
Potironette is a character who is in every level, hidden cleverly and extremely frustrating to find. At the very last level, The Eclipsing Moon, she will appear and give you bonus health, the amount based on the number of times you've found her.
Isis is one of the evil bosses who you could defeat easily if only she didn't fly away every time you use your attack special!!!
mdom is one of possible player characters available in a multiplayer platformer. Her avatar can be unlocked after earning a series of achievements, and grants exclusive items and boosts.
Espy is one of the villain's most trusted henchmen who can control any computer. You eventually defeat him after the Cyberspace dungeon, which is known as the most annoying dungeon due to its maze structure and numerous status ailment-inflicting traps.
Isis is one of the creatures that the player is able to befriend.
Madame crow starts you off in your quests as a travelling saleperson. Throughtout the game she somehow has every single item you need to complete this quest that she not only gave you, but is accompanying you on with no help in defeating the beasts you fight against.
And she never gets attacked by them either. . . . LO AND BEHOLD SHE IS THE FINAL BOSS AND SHE WAS ONLY USING YOU TO COMPLETE HER DARK TASKS! |
SparX is a thief who lives in a haunted forest. You first "encounter" her when a certain quest item goes missing straight from your inventory, and you trek through the woods following the slime trail left by her slug familiar. Later on, you have the option of rescuing her and her familiar from priests who believe her to be an abomination, and should you save her, she becomes a loyal companion for the rest of the game.

Espy is that mysterious NPC on a cyberpunk rpg who appears from nowhere to help you when you're almost dying. The dialogue reveals nothing about the past, only that Espy agrees with your current objective and will help whenever free.
mdom is the eccentric llama-herder who travels all across the land. The first you hear about her is from ambient dialogue between two NPCs; apparently mdom had visited the town just a couple days ago, and the entire populace had come to see her and her llama's traveling act. The dialogue also hints that mdom might be more than just a simple shepherd, and you can use the keyphrase "Traveling Llama-herder" with other NPCs to gain more information.
Eventually, you track down mdom to a roadside inn, and after being sent on a fetch quest to retrieve salve for her llamas, she lets you in on the secret that she's actually a superb healer, having learned the art of healing as an apprentice to an elderly witch in the mountains. From then on, you're able to teleport directly to her, and have your entire party healed and buffed once a day. |
Espy is a figure that flickers on the mech shop once in a while. You wonder what's going on with the computer screen before forgetting about it, figuring that the figure is just a badly connected video chat with the store owner.
Turns out, it is a badly connected video chat, and one day when you're in the store, as a randomly triggered event, the store owner sees Espy flickering on the video screen too! The owner is suddenly very excited and you have no idea why. A chain quest is triggered! Espy is a special NPC that has been reported as "missing" from the world for a rather long time. Now, the mech shop owner provides you a series of quests to locate where Espy went. After doing many useless tasks such as running all over the world for oil, sheet metal, and paint, the mech owner builds a mech that sends you off into another dimension where you find Espy dismantling and incinerating monsters with a giant laser gun. A new story quest is triggered! And Espy sends you off collecting monster parts for research, in which you try as best as you're able (which is not very good) to keep the monsters you kill intact. After many failed attempts from which you earn experience, Espy gives up on you and sends you off on a new mission--to go back and tell the mech owner about the new planet. You go back and recount the story, leaving the part out about how keeping monster parts intact was too difficult, and now have access to another dimension--whose quest-giver is Espy. |
That one NPC every thinks is a glitch of some sort.
The hacker trying to crack the code!
The princess who gives you the longest quest of your life
The demon enemy who shows up in groups of 3-5 of itself and is considered one of the most tricky opponents in the game - their combination of long-range spear attacks keeps your units at bay, while their longer-ranged butterflies sap your mp.
Hmmmm... The mysterious monster-child-trickster who may or may not be your friend! D:
The super spy
The sacrificial girl from the harpy village, chosen in an effort to ward off even greater evil, but saved by the idealistic hero.
The NPC who runs the ranch. Whenever you catch a monster ally, it is sent to the ranch. She only runs it during the day though - at night, she is at the hot springs.
The unassuming npc that stumbles upon some artifact of power, gets possessed by an eldritch entity and vanishes into the nearest dungeon; making everyone in their small village worried sick and unaware of the depth of the problem, thus they scrounge together a reward for any hero brave enough to go rescue you..
or accidentally fall face first into a giant evil plot for the destruction or dominance of the world they know and love. |
A Valkyrie guarding the gates of Valhalla.

An exiled noble, banished from court due to what others saw as a propensity for necromancy. You're first introduced to her through whispers and rumors of a crazed witch ("Didn't Aeron say that witch used to be some uppity noble lady, or somesuch?") living in the forest, but you only meet her in person much later, during a quest involving a curse on one of the party members.
While running errands for her to gather the supplies needed to cure the party member, you realize that Bluebird's skills aren't the usual raising-of-the-dead type of necromancy that the more superstitious peasantry is afraid of, but rather a sort of magic having to do with communing with the aspects of death inherent in nature. As such, the local fauna is drawn to Bluebird, as opposed to repulsed from a normal practitioner of necromancy. Your party's second run-in with Bluebird starts with a pitchfork-armed mob surging through the forest towards her dwelling. She has no trouble defending herself, but the mob refuses to listen to her explanations that she is no, in fact, a necromancy-practicing witch. They're only calmed down and dissuaded from further witchhunts when you speak with them, and afterwards, Bluebird joins your party as a rather unconventional healer. EDIT: (guys come on, you don't gotta write a friggin essay like I did, come back) |
@edit: XD
*golf claps* I want this riveting prose on my wall. The avatar above me is a shapeshifting earth guardian, angered by humankind's encroaching greed. |
I was about to say the protag, duh, but you changed your avi.
You're the NPC boyfrand of the drider who's the actual party member. Strider's basically your stereotypical shy/quiet healer except he fuckin has eight legs. Terrify spells are for wusses. |
*cackles* going thru an identity crisis with my avis rn
you are a lonesome renegade with a mysterious past. you don't have many belongings because you don't stay in one place for too long, and because you have your own quest (probably one of uncovering who murdered your loved ones even though it's been many years, but no one knows for sure). To fuel your quest, you freelance on the side despite the questionable ethics of some jobs such as assassination. It doesn't bother you unless it's something that hits close to home, and it's enough that you just end up assassinating the requester or leave the job altogether. Luckily, the job this time is one of the lighter ones. You signed up to help the protagonist(s) to safely cross to the next village/metropolis. You'll be stuck in this area for a while as you scout for information, so if the protagonist(s) revisit this area and need you on call again, you'll be here (until you're not). |
You are the entire reason the protagonist is going on a quest. They will save you, even if you end up being the final boss possessed by something or possessing something. The player strives the entire game to meet you again.
You foresee the future, and the protagonists come to you for aid when they are lost.
You are the sub-villain who is completely unrelated to the villain, just wants to get to the treasure before the heroes in every dungeon. This results in a fight that can be relatively tricky, as there is always some gimmick. Each time you show up, you are more and more beat up and bloodied.
You are the mysterious entity who resurrects the player each time they die. However, as you also guard tiny floofbuns, whenever the player decides to attack one, they forfeit their right to a free resurrection and will have to go on a quest for you first before you restore them to their original form.
Veshora is the weird NPC that settles in your party's base operations as part of an appearance pack DLC. She offers witty advice and suggestions and storage space (where does everything go? No one knows...) but by far, her most important role is letting players give their party members makeovers.
he/she/it/ w/e
bonus after story villain or non-villain. no1 rly knows. he's mysterious as they come. a kuudere with a logical personality.
always breaking 4th walls and likes to make fight him if u want to access a photo gallery of all the HQ pngs u collected during your game runs (and maybe sth more...like backstories, behind the scenes, 4th wall gameplay mode, etc.) |
That glitch character who’s kind of an easter egg, hidden in a room only accessible via messing around with .ini files. Calls you a cheater when you try to talk to them. Model is made of bits and pieces of every boss in the game.
The one interdimensional, time travel character that ties into a future or past series, is there for lore purposes and gives the main protagonist mysterious hints and messages and maybe even a cheat code or two.
