Awww...heat waves suck. We have one going on where I live currently. :c
I hope yours doesn't last long!

In other news, I finished the book I just started the other day.
Hopefully can finish one other in the next few days, although I have work and a couple of craft projects I need to haul ass on too.
XP
So busy.

@Trystan I think I understand what you said. But seriously, that movie was odd and boring, but then I have mixed feelings about Dune the book. I might try the miniseries at some point.

I am reading Bangkok Haunts, #3 in a series. I love those books. They are well written and quite interesting. The detective, Sonchai, is from Thailand, and is a Buddhist and...co-owns a brothel with his mother. Yup! its different.

@Kad: that owl!!! so beautiful, what is the name of that item?

trystan830 08-29-2017 11:39 PM

well, i'm glad someone understood some of that!

the book is hard to get through - Frank Herbert has a very compact style of writing.

Kaderin Triste 08-30-2017 01:02 AM

Moonshadow: It's from Harvey Herald, which is an older DI.

Moonshadow 08-31-2017 11:33 PM

@Trystan: I thought I would try Dune but I don't think I will now. I'm tired of reading hard things.

@Kad It is very beautiful.

trystan830 08-31-2017 11:54 PM

yeah, he'd kinda a dense writer, not really an easy read

Quiet Man Cometh 09-01-2017 03:54 AM

I can offer some comments on Dune once I'm done, if you like. It's on my list. I shall suffer it!

I read a little more of Memories of Ice while at the dentist today. So close!

And I walked into a bookstore. Only came outwith a magazine though! A copy of Rue Morgue about Women in horror. I'm kind of tempted to subscribe if I can. I picked up their last issue on Shark movies, too.

So many video game books I want to read!

trystan830 09-01-2017 04:02 PM

i'm reading another book! yaay!!!!

ooh, i have to see if my Navagators of Dune book is even out yet....it was supposed to be out in paperback on Aug 29th.....

I've been reading more than usual this year... I'd like to set a target of 15 I think... I've not really been keeping a tally of when I read them or anything fancy like that but yeah... ^_^;;

Books I've read so far this year :

These are all the ones I remember reading as most of them have been in the last few months... I have a stack that I'm slowly working my way through beside my bed plus I have another few books on pre-order... I just hope work doesn't get too busy so that I end up with no time to read again ^_^;;

I decided to re-read The Sight

Moonshadow 09-11-2017 11:29 PM

I've been largely absent, just so tired at night I have been sleeping.

I just bought a copy of 1984 and Animal Farm by George Orwell.
Classics I should read again.

trystan830 09-12-2017 11:15 AM

i have both Animal Farm and 1984. i want to reread 1984, so i'll just add that on my reread pile, along with the rest of the Incarnations of Immortality series (i'm in the middle of book 3 of 8 (although i'm only reading the original 7)); Harry Potter; the Hobbit & Lord of the Rings; and the Olympos Cycle (two-book series).

i have a number of books on my to-read list that i want to read, including Navigators of Dune, and two Supernatural novels... maybe i'll read those when i'm done my new, current book - small great things, by Jodi Picoult~

this is book #33 for me! *woot*

Moonshadow 09-12-2017 11:05 PM

I have so many books to read and I keep adding more!
I am reading the Bangkok 8 series of police procedurals. I am on book #4, there are six.

Awen Moonshine 09-13-2017 03:39 PM

I'm going to be starting on a new book tonight (#9) and I've had one of my pre-orders arrive so I'm sorted for a little while... Then I'll have to delve into my bookshelf and find out which ones I haven't got around to reading yet ^_^

Moonshadow 09-16-2017 10:28 AM

@Awen I have so many books at home that I have not read, close to 200 I think. I always say I'm not going to buy any more, but yet, I get attracted to a subject then I buy another book!

Right now I am reading a police procedural series, I have two left, and also reading Destiny of Souls.

I need to update my reading list, I'm going to do it now!

Quiet Man Cometh 09-18-2017 09:47 PM

Almost done my two books! I appear to be in the last chapter of Memories of Ice but it's a really long chapter. Pretty darn epic though.

I'm going to start reading Nostalgia once I'm finished one of these as I think the book might help give me some ideas for some "memory" themed writing I would like to do.

Death by Video Game continues to be an awesome book, and I'm having a hard time not buying other books that look into the industry and such as well. My brother has a copy of All Your Base Are Belong to Us that I intend to snag.
