Glad we don't have to disagree on good tea. =)

Quiet Man Cometh 08-15-2011 01:19 AM

I have coffee on two occasions only: Sunday dinner at my dad's house, and the occasional time I need to get up prior to 6am for work or driving (I don't drive but it's my job to stay awake and entertain the driver at that hour).

I do love the smell though. My favourite thing about working in a coffee shop was the constant coffee grounds smell. Grounds though, not necessarily the coffee.

Oh right, forgot. My new brother in law is a coffee buff, so I do occassionaly have a shot from their Nespresso or a cup of Turkish coffee when he makes it. Only time I ever had coffee when it wasn't direclty offered to me was in Rome. *That* was darn good coffee!

Peppermint tea is my drink of choice when I have a cold. Clears the sinuses right up!

Quiet Man Cometh 08-17-2011 08:59 PM

I preferred regular "mint" myself as a kid, but darn if it didn't get hard to find! :p.

Yokuutsu 08-17-2011 11:21 PM

I haven't had any weird aftertaste from Lipton tea bags...but that could've been the batches you had...or maybe it's a preference thing.

I wish Wal-Mart in my area would carry blackberry tea.

Same here, even though I drink it even when I dont' have a cold. It also feels quite nice going down my throat too. I hear peppermint is good for settling the stomach too. (but only if made with real peppermint not artificial flavorings)

Quiet Man Cometh 08-19-2011 05:44 AM

Ginger helps stomach issues, though I haven't found it in a decent tea, and if I feel queasy I find plain green tea helps (my older sister's recommendation). I rarely drink plain green anymore unless I'm out for sushi but I have a bunch around given that I'm the tea adopter of the family. Someone has tea they want to get rid of it usually ends up with me since my cousin is a little more picky about what he has.

Reyoki 10-18-2011 05:25 PM

I'm heading to the San Mateo/San Francisco area tomorrow for about a week. Does anyone here know of any good places to get milk tea drinks in that area? I've tried Tuttimelon, and I didn't like their selection. I saw this place called Golden Island Cafe, and I was wondering if their selection is good... Is it?

Kitsaria 11-02-2011 11:06 PM

Oh tea, how could I live without the stuff. <3
I end up having a gallon of iced tea in the fridge pretty much constantly, I need the caffeine of black tea to get my through the day of chasing after a baby, and a five year old. Though, now that it's getting colder here I'll be doing more hot teas in the morning... afternoon... Oh who am I trying to kid, hot tea all day! :D
As far as flavors, I'm not really picky, though I do tend to keep a lot of medicinal and herbal teas in the pantry and drink those when I start feeling sick. It's all bagged teas though, and not really the best quality to be honest. :< I'm hoping for the holidays to get a proper tea pot with a metal mesh insert to brew some loose leaf teas in.

Drakath 11-02-2011 11:13 PM

Mmmm tea
I'm fond of herbal and green teas, i love jasmine and chai tea too
I do love me some iced sweet tea too, and actually should go brew some in a bit for the house. Mmmmm.

Echo-chan713 11-02-2011 11:40 PM

I love my tea XD

Drakath 11-02-2011 11:44 PM

what kind is it echo, i made lipton just now for the whole family

Bonnie 11-03-2011 06:08 AM

I'm currently having some earl grey tea for breakfast with a bagel.
This is my kind of thread...

Mocha 11-03-2011 06:53 PM

I'm a coffee person instead of a tea person, which should probably be obvious from my user name. I usually drink plain coffee with cream and sugar, but I get lattes or mochas (lul) every once in a while or whenever I go to a cafe.
I've tried tea... a lot of times. I kind of wish I liked it since I have tons of friends who are extreme tea people, but I just can't enjoy it no matter how hard I try. The exception is chai, but I like almost anything if you put some cinnamon and nutmeg in it :b

Quiet Man Cometh 11-03-2011 07:05 PM

I have several tea pots with the metal holders for loose leaf, but I find I like the little individual baggies you can buy, since they are easier to deal with. No extra rinsing. ;)

I've started drinking a little more coffee at work because of the difficulties finding a spot for the kettle that isn't considered a safety hazard. I stick with plain coffee with milk and sugar too. I'm not one for fancy flavours much of the time.

I've never tried loose leaf teas before, but I'd love to try it sometime.

I drink my coffee straight black... or with oodles of cream and sugar. I can't stand the powdered creamers, though.

Echo-chan713 11-03-2011 10:11 PM

I had green tea at a sushi bar, it was good C:

Bonnie 11-04-2011 03:20 PM

Darn it, you just made me crave green tea and sushi, and I have no current access to any... :(

Quiet Man Cometh 11-04-2011 11:22 PM

I did some searching for Sushi tea, or rather the tea that we often get when we go to sushi joints. The closest I've found so far is Genmaicha, which green tea with toasted rice. Tastey stuff. :). Another Chinese joint we like to go to serves Jasmine tea.

I just finished a cup of chai myself. It's not homemade out of the pot but it'll do. :)

Kitsaria 11-04-2011 11:27 PM

Right now I am nursing a cup of hot apple cinnamon tea. Really tasty stuff, didn't need any sweetener added either, which is a bonus since it's 10:27pm here and I don't need to give myself a sugar buzz.

Quiet Man Cometh 11-04-2011 11:31 PM

I like the term 'sugar coma' myself. Apparently it's scientifically more accurate. Especially when said buzz runs out. ;)

Kitsaria 11-04-2011 11:44 PM

Haha! That's the truth though. I think I shall be adopting this term into my vocabulary, since it's much more accurate.

Quiet Man Cometh 11-11-2011 01:28 AM

Trying a new tea my sister picked up from somewhere, some kind of Bigelow black tea bag. I just made myself a cup of persian black tea and sorta oversteeped it, which is something of a feat considering how I usually have my tea.

Jurinjo 11-11-2011 10:49 PM

I don't get out much places for tea variety so from walmart I just bought some Bengal tea. It tastes almost like Chai tea. It's lighter so requires much less sugar. I'm fairly happy with it. Wish I just got Chai Tea instead. ^-^;

Quiet Man Cometh 12-26-2011 08:02 PM

We have a Teavana now so I can actually see what they have. It's nifty stuff. First store in Canada and it's fifteen minutes from my house. How cool is that?

Pricy stuff though. I might me sticking with my Blue Teapot and miscallenous local stores.

Flapjack 12-26-2011 08:23 PM

Tea is great =w=
my favorites are Orange pekoe and pure green.:D

Quiet Man Cometh 12-26-2011 09:02 PM

It surprises how many people don't seem to know what Orange Pekoe is. Apparently it was assumed around town that we had some sort of Orange Spice tea, which was merely Red Rose tea since we had nothing of the sort. No one seemed to complain about the tea not tasting like orange.

I'm a black tea fanatic myself, but I alternate with green and white to give myself a break (doctors are after me for how stong I have my tea and how often). I find I like cornflower petals in my tea, two of my favourite blends have them included. I rarely have plain green. I prefer Genmaicha, Japanese green with toasted rice.

Quiet Man Cometh 01-01-2012 08:03 PM

Happy Near Year all! Pass on the champagne here and raise a cup of your favourite tea! Yay!

Yokuutsu 01-05-2012 10:58 PM

I wish that we had blackberry tea.

I had some at Chili's and loved it, but no one sells it D:

Spirit of the Party 01-05-2012 11:05 PM

Tea is good for your soul..*sips green tea*

Yokuutsu 01-05-2012 11:28 PM

I'm not big on plain green tea. Not since I had some that didn't even taste of green tea.

Spirit of the Party 01-06-2012 12:20 AM

Eh? That must give tea a bad name, then. What was it called?

Yokuutsu 01-06-2012 12:29 AM

It was at this Japanese restuarant. Normally it's good, but that time it was bad enough that I just get normal sweet tea now .-.

Spirit of the Party 01-06-2012 12:39 AM

Sweet tea is pretty good. Though my favorite is this red tea. I think it was called "Rooibos"

Yokuutsu 01-06-2012 01:45 AM

I'm from the south so...ICE SWEET TEA FOR THE WIN!

Quiet Man Cometh 01-06-2012 01:48 AM

Roiboos is African red bush tea, I think, or African honey bush, not sure which. I'm not all that fond of it but several people I know who generally aren't fond of tea tend to like it. It seems to hold flavours well.

I like vanilla bean tea, but only onw brand I know makes it and it's more money then I want to spend on it. Tetly used to have a Vanilla Earl greay but I haven't seen it in a while, and I tend to avoid Tetly now. I had their Green tea and it doesn't taste or smell much like Green tea.

I don't usually have it plain but I find it helps my stomach if I'm feeling a little under the weather. It's also nice for a hot drink if I feel like something more than hot water but not as strong as black tea.

Yokuutsu 01-06-2012 01:51 AM

I hate anything too bitter...which is probably why that one place's green tea is either really good or really bad.

I like the already made lipton green tea...but it never tastes right if you use their powder for some reason .-.

Quiet Man Cometh 01-06-2012 01:56 AM

Powder? Sort of like matcha? Or are we talking like an iced tea or something?

Spirit of the Party 01-06-2012 01:58 AM

The lipton green tea is pretty bad, as far as green tea goes, in my opinion. It's too sweet and it has something in it which contracts my throat. :P

Quiet Man Cometh 01-06-2012 02:04 AM

It smells wrong to me and looks like someone messed up and put in trash black tea. Ick!
