Stabbsworth 09-30-2019 03:48 PM

one of the three cats we have. he's got marbled tabby markings and fucking huge pupils in his eyes, most of the time.

littl3chocobo 09-30-2019 03:50 PM

ah, gotcha

Stabbsworth 09-30-2019 03:50 PM

he's also a super affectionate cat and pretty much the biggest lap cat you can find, but he's pretty heavy. still, he's nice.

littl3chocobo 09-30-2019 04:03 PM

do you know what is wrong?

Kory 09-30-2019 04:46 PM

Chocobo cactus is staring into my soul!!!

littl3chocobo 09-30-2019 04:58 PM

oops! sorry, gotta put those away

Kory 09-30-2019 05:19 PM

Phew.....

Those eyes were looking into all my secrets and it didn't feel good ;u;

other than the mildly swollen eye? no. no i don't.

littl3chocobo 09-30-2019 10:31 PM

;3; </3

Stabbsworth 10-01-2019 09:30 AM

it's not getting any worse, at least, and it's been three days.

he'll also scent with the side with the swollen eye, so it's not affecting him too much, and he's been pretty normal in terms of behaviour (aka: being an absolute cuddler).

littl3chocobo 10-01-2019 11:25 AM

3 days? dude he needs a vet. he could lose the eye or worse

Stabbsworth 10-01-2019 01:46 PM

this is why you don't let the cat outside, but nooooo, mother knows best, clearly.

i can't take him to a vet because i can't drive. i'm not sure if we have the money to book an appointment + pay for treatment either.

edit for clarification: these aren't justifications / excuses as to why we're not taking him to a vet.

on the flipside, mum says that his eye is looking a little better, but hell if i know.

Kory 10-01-2019 04:08 PM

Aww.

I hope he gets better soon. ;-;
Poor kitty.

littl3chocobo 10-01-2019 05:16 PM

i don't feel comfortable with this conversation anymore. i think i'm going to mosey

Stabbsworth 10-01-2019 08:35 PM

gestures. he'll probably be fine.

i'm just annoyed about it because it's easily preventable, but no, mum wants to do fuck-all about it.

Mekatra 10-01-2019 08:46 PM

It's awful when you're not able to take an animal for medical treatment. :(

Hell, living in the US I can rarely get myself the medical treatment I need, let alone my pup.

Have you been trying to keep it clean as much as possible?

Stabbsworth 10-01-2019 08:53 PM

not sure.

i know it seems awfully flaky of me to reply with that, but i'm both unsure on what to say or whether mum's actually been doing that.

Mekatra 10-01-2019 08:54 PM

That's fair. The cat seems to be more under her jurisdiction than yours.

Hopefully your kitty comes through this just fine.

Stabbsworth 10-01-2019 08:57 PM

well, it is practically her cat. he just likes my bed for the moment.

idk if he's currently sleeping up on there right now. he's been on it a lot lately. iirc, he started coming up on it again just before his eyelid got swollen.

probably just wants somewhere warm to lay, haha. or he's touchstarved. he's a right cuddler.

Mekatra 10-01-2019 08:59 PM

Sounds like he feels safe and comfy with you and in your sleeping area, so that's a plus.

I miss having a proper cuddly cat. Ours likes to pretend she's half feral. She will allow brief intervals of petting but absolutely will not get into your lap or allow herself to be held.

Haha. Used to have a cat like that too! Though the petting was very brief, and non-existent to some. But all it took was me man handling her for a few years to "break" her. (:
It was more me picking her up regardless of the scratching and the biting. Then giving treats to the monster. Later she would just accept the picking up part because it became part of her life. Plus the treats helped.

Mekatra 10-01-2019 09:05 PM

I feel like that would be distressing to her and I really don't see a reason to put her through that. I have a dog that demands cuddles reguarly and a husband that allows physical contact on a semi-regular basis, so it isn't like I need to harass the cat into letting me hold her haha

Burnt Rice 10-01-2019 09:09 PM

She became a lot more friendly after the manhandling. While it was probably not the best way to get her used to the concept of people touching her, it worked. She no longer lunged at peoples feet when they so happened to pass her. Worst was when she would sit next to the phone or your shoes. Then would attack you as you approached and tried to take your things.
Also, while I calling it manhandling, it was very gentle so not to hurt her. After all, it's easy to hurt a cat when it's claws and teeth are sunk into your flesh. One wrong move and rip. Painful for the both I'd imagine.

Mekatra 10-01-2019 09:14 PM

You also had a really vaild reason for needing her to be more gentle. She was likely to get stepped on or kicked lunging out at people like that. Our cat is just anti-social and will sleep in the windowsill ignoring all of us. The only things she ever attacks are small rodents or birds foolish enough to get anywhere near her.

Burnt Rice 10-01-2019 09:16 PM

Aw. That sounds like a wonderful cat! When the time is right, she will come out for some love. Probably not the time is all.
As for being punted? That would have ended poorly for the person accidentally kicking her. She was... terrifying.

Stabbsworth 10-02-2019 09:45 AM

whisky isn't a lap cat. he's really fluffy, though, and the sweet spot for him is under the chin. sometimes he doesn't want attention, sometimes he does. and sometimes he'll try and nip at you.

my sister's cat, kit, she gives little lovebites. they don't hurt.

Kory 10-03-2019 04:37 PM

My bunny used to give "love bites" sometimes.
But it was usually when you fed her and she'd get so wild for food that she'd sometimes mistake your hand for the food.

She was always hungry and it was embarrassing when people would visit because she acted like she was never fed.

As soon as my mom would open the fridge, Beans would run into the kitchen and stand on her back feet and stare at my mom until she gave Beans a treat.
We juice a lot in my family, so there was always left over bits of fruits and veggies that Beans loved to eat.

Burnt Rice 10-03-2019 08:41 PM

That's any rabbit. I remember opening a bag of crunchies in my room once. Open the door and the rabbit is there. Waiting. Confused as to what I'm doing locked in a room with her crunchies. Swear the rustling of the bag wasn't that loud.
They just know.

Stabbsworth 10-04-2019 10:48 AM

whisky constantly meows and we're not sure why. he is a very chatty boy, though.

Merskelly Metalien 10-04-2019 12:38 PM

o-o? Is Whiskey spelled differently in England?? Or id the kitty named Whisky on purpose? >->; Maybe I got alcohol on the mind and it's really just a cute form of Whiskers..

Burnt Rice 10-04-2019 01:18 PM

The Scots spell it whisky and the Irish spell it whiskey, with an extra 'e'. This difference in the spelling comes from the translations of the word from the Scottish and Irish Gaelic forms.
Had to Google the proper spelling of whisky. Seems like it doesn't really matter how you spell it, and it's not just one country in particular spelling it wrong. Even auto correct is ok with both spellings.
Whiskey and whisky.

Stabbsworth 10-04-2019 02:24 PM

shrugs.

we just named the cat whisky after his fucking huge whiskers.

littl3chocobo 10-05-2019 11:59 AM

at least you didn't name 'em tickles because of the whiskers XD

Stabbsworth 10-05-2019 01:13 PM

he grew into the whiskers.

he's still a fluffy lump of shenanigans, though.

littl3chocobo 10-05-2019 01:51 PM

hehehe, schrod never grew into his x''D they are still unruly wigglybits

do you still have kitten pictures?

Kory 10-05-2019 02:34 PM

It's always interesting to see little kids or animals grow into their awkward body parts lol.

I used to have enormous feet as a kid...
In lke late elementary school, I was already wearing adult sized 8 shoes...

My parents thought my feet were huge and always bought my shoes two sizes too big so that I would "grow into them"...

Welp, my feet stopped growing at USA size 8 and I ended up just growing into my feet. So now they look average and not absolutely massive lol

Stabbsworth 10-06-2019 10:30 AM

i don't have kitten pictures, unfortunately. they were on my dsi, which has a fucked top screen, and i've no way to transfer them out onto a computer, hence why i'm keeping the dsi.

littl3chocobo 10-08-2019 12:32 PM

ah, that is understandable! i have an old flip-phone like that

Stabbsworth 10-08-2019 05:32 PM

god. i think the photos would be pretty grainy anyways -- the dsi camera wasn't the best in camera technology, y'know?

littl3chocobo 10-09-2019 04:54 PM

the phone was from 2006, i have no idea what it is x''D
