"PWESENTS FOR ME?!?" Derpy gives Kaderin a big hug, then waddles around giving everyone else big hugs too.

Help. I don't know how to fill out a "detailed description" of my past job experiences and it's making me want to rip my hair out because it would be a great job, but idk what the fuck I'm even doing
|
my throat feels weird, tumblr's going to shit, and i'm looking into doing commissions here.
|
Oh god Tumblr. I'm tempted to just jump ship, which is crap because I JUST remade my blog.
So many of my friends are frantically trying to find a new place to shitpost. |
soup.io is okay, but there's been 2 crashes and subsequent data loss, and everything's broken on the CSS side of things.
pillowfort.io is in beta, but recently had an exploit, so they shut the site down while they're investigating. writscrib was gonna be one, but didn't get the funding. mastodon is pretty okay, but there's instances with less than savoury people there. |
my main contender so far is pillowfort, but we'll see
|
there's also furaffinity, but that's more or less for furries. idk if newgrounds allows artwork.
|
Wanted to get coffee, but the employees were too busy cleaning to look up and wait on me. :c
I am sad panda. |

FINALLY HEADING HOME AFTER VISITING SIS
and rip tumblr though my main has mainly SFW content lololololol |
Mad because they changed the wifi at work and I don't know the new passwors, so I can't download more soothing Bob Ross on Netflix (and other shows).
:c |
Gotta track down a paperclip because I forgot to borrow a stapler from work to. Yay!
|
I'm home now xux *flops*
|
reddit's vaguely decent.
i also have a bit of a cold. |
I'll make you some coffee....well okay i can't but i'll make you some coffee in spirit.
Yeah the issue is no place seems to be up currently, and the memes are already starting to get old IMO. |
Nervous and excited because I just handed in my application!
Should probably let the MoD in charge of scheduling at Joann know my availability may change drastically soon... |
everything abt tumblr blocking nsfw is really fucking stupid.
|
i read through the pillowfort terms, plans, and funding model, and i'm happy enough that i'll probably be jumping ship
i'm particularly happy that it's 18+ and any 13+ users need a family account made by an 18+ user. it's not an impenetrable defence, but it'll definitely help. |
i mean, depending on how long the beta period is, they'll either change the rules or i'll be 18.
they're kinda like deviantart and kinda like tumblr, with dreamwidth's capabilities, in a shitty approximation. |
mysterious 3rd option: they leave beta without changing the rules and before you're 18 and you have to either wait or get a grown up friend that'll take responsibility for you
|
squints at you.
|
i'm just sayin', pretty big possibility there that you left out of your list :s-laugh:
|
i don't particularly enjoy relying on people just to have an account.
bro's in a productive mood. he's channeling that into moving his room about. |
Fourth option: do what I do and host your own.
|
don't encourage the children
|
You don't believe kids should grow up with a healthy appreciation for STEM?
|
absolutely not lmao
|
Coffee and candles and cats, yay!

you underestimate my stupidity in html and css, coda.
also, server costs. tumblr could've just moderated their shit, but no, they have to ban nsfw content, which sex workers rely on, on a day that's very important to sex workers. never mind the fact that people rely on commissions of nsfw for money. all this because of apple. fuck apple. |

Unfortunately, no, Tumblr actually CAN'T moderate their stuff. There's WAY TOO MUCH OF IT for humans to monitor and as the current flagging chaos proves it's insanely hard to automate it with any level of accuracy. I agree that it's ridiculous, and I think their old policy was probably fine, but I imagine they wouldn't have changed the policy if some business consideration hadn't made it relevant -- maybe the cost of enforcing the policy as it stood was too hard, or maybe it was too hard to enforce it, or maybe there was legal pressure in some jurisdiction, or maybe the existing moderation system was getting abused or wasn't catching enough violating content. But moderation wouldn't have been the answer. What does this have to do with Apple, though? It's Verizon you should be getting pissed off at, since they own Tumblr. As far as I know, Apple has nothing to do with it? EDIT: Though I can't really say a whole lot about your HTML/CSS skills. That, at least, could be a valid point. |
Apple and Verizon are both playing a part in the larger scheme of what this incident represents.
Apple taking the Tumblr app down was a notable trigger, and considering there was not even a month between that happening and the Tumblr announcement, it can't be reasonably be crossed off as a related event. Apple has a history of heavy restrictions on all of its apps that are questionable in how it affects both the market on the whole and the freedom of groups to truly make the games/apps/content they want while still being available to as many people that may want them as possible. Verizon IS at fault because they were going to eventually make this move anyway, but Apple getting involved sped it up, as well as opened the doorway to discuss how this Tumblr nonsense relates to the big picture shift of any and all notable websites/apps/whatever being pressured into fitting the cookie cutter expectations of a clean and family friendly internet that pushes anything questionable or mature into the deep dark depths never to be touched by people with any moral integrity. |
Ah, okay, I was wondering what the specific business rationale was, and that explains it. Thanks.

i do not have a paypal, nor am i particularly willing to get one right now as a result of me being underage.
i do know that there's free web hosting around, which is actually needed for an update-able ukagaka. i really ought to make my own, i'm currently relying on someone else to actually transfer the files for the ukagaka to the website. though, i've no idea how well that will go over. i'm marginally annoyed at the fact that sites nowadays require a phone number. sure, it's security measures. |
i'm equally bothered by the push to eliminate any sense of anonymity from websites, which is a related subject
|
don't blame you, but some users with the power to be anonymous are twats. it's one of the downsides of anonymity.
also, had some gutrot. probably going to be on the motherly niagra falls this week. my back still hurts. |
anonymity is a necessity of free speech.
i will take some twats. |
i'll take all the twats on. 1v1 fox only final destination no items. we'll see who wins.
|
hell yeah, that's the spirit
|
if they can't run smash ultimate in a switch emulator on the highest quality possible, i'll take 1v1 with Rayman in Brawlhalla.
