Espy 10-10-2019 02:24 PM

Nope. Life happened.

littl3chocobo 10-10-2019 02:25 PM

that's super unlucky! you should get life repellent so it doesn't bother you again

Espy 10-10-2019 02:28 PM

i know, right...

Merskelly Metalien 10-10-2019 02:34 PM

>.> I likewise haven't been able to doodle on time because of life happening..
also, my hand gets crampy because I don't know how to take breaks in between properly... <n<; Would like to see cool Espy doodles tho.

littl3chocobo 10-10-2019 02:51 PM

i recommend a diet high in garlic and all-nighters

Espy 12-10-2019 06:32 AM

I put Yakov through a lot of physical, emotional, and mental trauma, so I try to make it up to him with art :|

Anyways, it's 3am, I'm not sober, my fount of ideas ran dry an hour into this, and if I never have to draw another rifle again, it'll be too soon.

...I haven't drawn in so long that my style's a bit... different.

CW: partial and messily-drawn firearms.

...wait did someone rate my thread two stars or something? Rude.

Jealousy, I suppose. Shameful behaviour. As an elder of the community, I wish I could call them out to apologise, but things work very differently here from the herd I was part of before. Here, I don't even know who did it, but there, I'd be able to tell after a great sniff through my nostrils near the scene of the incident.

Oh, but I nearly forgot what I came here to say. When I looked at your art I thought how talented young people are nowadays. I suppose there were talents even in my time, but because I was young myself then I didn't really notice. I saw your costume designs and they're so detailed! I like to imagine wearing them, made to my fit, of course.

Espy 12-13-2019 06:50 AM

...which one does your llama-ness like the most

Llama 12-13-2019 06:56 AM

Now that's a fitting title. 'Mule' is not. You hear that, Kunyo?

Hmmm, the first one? It brings out my eyes.

Espy 12-13-2019 07:33 AM

...wouldn’t that much fur make you too warm

Llama 12-13-2019 08:09 AM

I'm used to having loads of fur, as a matter of fact before Kunyo began taking care of me, I never gave my fur a trim. So I think I'd still be comfortable. If not, I'll keep it for winter-wear.

Rude indeed. Two stars are not nearly bright enough to represent this particularly artistic thread.

Espy 12-18-2019 04:45 PM

TBH someone might have just accidentally clicked it. Oh well :|

Merskelly Metalien 12-18-2019 04:50 PM

What is the thread rating for anyways?? <:/
Is it just there for decoration, orrr...?

Espy 12-18-2019 04:58 PM

Probably a remnant of the basic forum system.

Yeah, that's most likely.

@Mers yeah I think the forum is some open source software or something. vBulletin, like phpBB. so the ratings thing would've already been there

actually i looked it up and vBulletin is something that's bought. but it's built off of phpBB

Wanted to prove a point that not everyone has mind-blowing drastic improvement over the course of ten years.

mdom 01-14-2020 02:50 AM

you did not prove your point

lovely pencil coloring tho

Espy 01-14-2020 10:30 PM

I mean, the improvement is less pronounced in my stuff than a lot of other artists’ improvement memes.

And thanks.

Death by Mirrors 01-16-2020 05:22 AM

There's no point in comparing yourself to other artists. Someone will usually be better than you. I see lots of improvement in your artwork example.

Espy 02-18-2020 04:23 AM

My miqo’te lancer from ffxiv.

Espy 05-17-2020 01:46 AM

...He grew up and is now a lvl80 dragoon.

Also, an arch.

Merskelly Metalien 05-19-2020 12:14 AM

Awhh, he outgrew his sweet beady bandana. :[
Still cool-lookin' though! :]

Love the arch. :T

Espy 05-19-2020 02:28 AM

Yeah, I liked the bandana as well. Might have to figure out a new outfit for him that includes it.

Espy 01-16-2023 04:21 AM

Been a while, hasn't it. Here's my latest.

Oh wow, you do fantastic work! Do you ever do commissions? I don't have anything in mind or to offer right now per say but just curious for in the future.

Espy 01-16-2023 03:51 PM

I actually have never done commissions before, because I have... let's call them commitment issues. But I might look at opening up commishes eventually.

Dalhanahue 01-16-2023 04:55 PM

Completely understandable lol but good to know you may in future. Either way, I'll check back here every so often, I really like your works.

Dalhanahue 01-19-2023 10:41 AM

Oh wow. I love the colors and the textured look it has to it.

Espy 01-19-2023 01:30 PM

Thanks! Probably shouldn’t have started in on a basic white canvas but rather a textured one, for even more of a painting feel, but oh well.

Dalhanahue 01-19-2023 01:53 PM

I think what texture you do have is most noticeable in the hair, looks like brush strokes, and then in the clothing in spots. Over all though I feel the look is still more of a painted feeling/look than just straight up smooth digital.

Espy 01-20-2023 03:01 AM

Yes, used acrylic/oil textured brushes for that. I still work better w dry media, though, so I added some darker shadows with charcoal.

Dalhanahue 01-20-2023 11:38 AM

I've always liked the look of charcoal and pastels as well. My drawing skill are not the greatest but I also always like the feel of working with pastels.

Espy 01-20-2023 12:26 PM

Yeah, I don’t get many chances to use charcoal and pastels on actual paper, and there still is a huge difference with doing it digitally, but, seems like it works well w my style.

Dalhanahue 01-22-2023 05:18 PM

I'd say it does too!
