Stupid hobbitsesses.

Hey hey don't diss the hobbits.. someone has to be short so we can lord it over them, and without the pissed off strength of a dwarf >.>

Yuki 08-23-2010 12:47 PM

I can't sleep unless it's dark and dead quiet. During a movie? How?

Alexis Rider 08-23-2010 12:48 PM

OMGAWD LAWL.

abbreviations.... got to love them.

so its post your gaian avatar day?
I rather not show him. You can find me with my name. its the same here as it is one there.

Sadrain 08-23-2010 12:48 PM

They made Aragorn look like some... Oh, I don't know, something disgusting. XD It looked like he didn't wash once during the movie, the same dirt in same shape all over the movie. XD And I liked him in the books. ;3;

Sei 08-23-2010 12:49 PM

*rolls*

Yuki, I can fall asleep without complete darkness and silence. XD

Yuki 08-23-2010 12:50 PM

I agree he looks pretty nasty. xD But they all do in the third movie. Frodo didn't wash for months.

Sadrain 08-23-2010 12:50 PM

I... I didn't like hobits. Not cause they short, but because they seem so blank. =o= I could stand Frodo some, but those other three.... <o<;;;

And that makes them dumb movies. =o= Aragorn is supposed to epic. T^T

This is my avi, I haven't edited it since I quit.

Sadrain 08-23-2010 12:52 PM

Wow, did you go kaboom or hit by huge fire ball, Gozed? -feels sorry for-

johnny 08-23-2010 12:52 PM

There's just something about a head being plopped onto a torso sans any semblance of vertebrae that I find disconcerting. The fact that the elbows don't appear to have any joints doesn't help matters. It makes me think that the Gaia avatars are little dough people and if you move them, their heads will roll right off their shoulders.

Also:

I totally fell asleep during the Lord of the Rings movie, but it was a rental, not in a theater. I just got so bored of helicopter shots... of... landscapes... and... more.... landscapes... and... mountains... and... -snore.-

Books are good, though.

Alexis Rider 08-23-2010 12:52 PM

ok fine you all win.. lol

They are too thick for me to read though. I Had Bilbo on CD. xD

Sadrain 08-23-2010 12:54 PM

Ahaha, in Latvian, the books are kinda just as boring. -o-

...do you know the A-Team movie that just came out? I slept through like.. over half of that in THEATERS o3o

Yuki 08-23-2010 12:55 PM

I'd prefer reading them in English but I dunno I ever even finished Harry Potter book one. Too thick. Too much blah blah.

Gozed 08-23-2010 12:55 PM

@Rainy: Yeah, my avatar self destructed when I quit. :P

Funny, I was the type to be able to read anything (I just read the 7 Morganville vampire novels my library had within a week or so... and the 870 page Harry Potter book in Junior High, within 3 days)

Yuki 08-23-2010 12:58 PM

People should get shot for making books that long. It made the "smarter" kids point and laugh at us who only could read comic books.

Sadrain 08-23-2010 12:59 PM

I am fast reader if stuff cacthes my attention. I have read over 300 page book in like 8 hours (I ddin't count, though, I just recall i came home from library in evening and edned sometime in night), not moving at all except to talk with mom about it and eat and such. That is my favorite, though.
I didn't get trough last HP book. =o= I hated the 6th. <o<
I liked it when i was 12... but later... <O< >O>
But HP showers the fantasy teenage books can be popular again, so, thanks to plagiarizing Rowling for some books other authors got to publish. x3

Well, to each their own. I understand someone might not be interested in long books, but I love if good book is lengthy, not just blabber stuff.

johnny 08-23-2010 12:59 PM

The first Harry Potter book is... three hundred pages long.

Are you... serious? xD

That's like, the length of any average book. I can finish that in a few hours if I focus on it. I read the fifth book in a night, and that thing's nine hundred pages long.

But then again I love reading, I love books, and I'm one of those people who can't focus on things like comic books and manga because I find all dialogue with pictures boring and confusing.

So we all have our forms of entertainment we're used to.

Sei 08-23-2010 01:00 PM

*rolls*

I agree, johnny. I love to read and the HP books were nothing but light, one or two night, reading for me. >.>;

Yuki 08-23-2010 01:00 PM

Yeah, adult books. Don't read them.

Gozed 08-23-2010 01:03 PM

I actually kept track of the amount of time I'd spend reading the harry potter books... I read them all in a little over 145 hours... just over 6 days.

Yuki 08-23-2010 01:03 PM

But I could probably manage to read one if I found it interesting. Most of the time I don't. I can't get into the authors head. They say of he had black hair...then what? What does he look like? Oh yeah you're suppose to get your own picture but then they make a movie and he becomes ugly. lol

Sadrain 08-23-2010 01:07 PM

I personally don't... don't create visualizations for what I read. I don't have vivid fantasy like that. They're just there, I don't try to picture it, except vague outlines. -sigh- I listen to the flow of the language and what feelings it creates in me more than visualization.
Still, when stuff gets turned into movie, it usually becomes fuglier. =o=;

johnny 08-23-2010 01:09 PM

Well, I am an author. Or I want to be one, someday.

Getting into their heads is like... getting into my own head. I find it extremely easy - if the writer is good, like JK Rowling is - to visualize the story and get pulled into the narrative. I had no problem imagining most of the characters the way she wrote, and especially characters like Hagrid, I could usually hear their voices in my head as I read their dialogue. She's an excellent writer. One of the ones that simultaneously made me want to become a writer and made me worried I could never be as good.

Sei 08-23-2010 01:09 PM

I have an active imagination, which is why movies usually never look as good as in my head. XD

Seth 08-23-2010 01:10 PM

We need a form area just to talk about books..
But hey any of you read the Morganville series? I was surprised, it has a fast paced, exciting plot, likable characters (and ones you love to hate, like Monica)..
It's just awesome overall..
Also, the Evernight books, those.. I love but with how book 3 went.. it pissed me off e_e
I don't just like vampires though..
Heir Apparent and the other virtual reality related book by Vivian Vande Velde are.. like amazing.

Yuki 08-23-2010 01:10 PM

It's frustrating to me...

Sadrain 08-23-2010 01:11 PM

Only problem is that she copied even whole lines from old, forgotten stories and tales. X3

I imagine story otherwise. I step in that world without actually seeing it, but I still live with the story, only on different level. My world is made of words, not visuals, though, also the one I create.

Sadrain 08-23-2010 01:12 PM

Writer's Diary has sub-forum for book discussion,S eth.

Gozed 08-23-2010 01:12 PM

I've tried writing, I can think out the whole story in my head, have a complete visualization of it.. But its the filler stuff when I try to write that kills it. I want to get straight to the plot, forget introductions.

johnny 08-23-2010 01:13 PM

...We have an area to talk about books. xD

Yuki 08-23-2010 01:15 PM

I only think writing if I can do it however I want. I don't like when teachers put their nose in it or give you a finished plot to follow. I understand they do it cause not everyone have a fantasy but it sucks for those who do.

Gozed 08-23-2010 01:18 PM

Yeah, I took a creative writing class in High School, one time the teacher gave us a single line we has to start a story with... 60% of the class wrote boring stuff that wasn't a story... I wrote a murder story.

Sadrain 08-23-2010 01:19 PM

Uhhuh. I have hard time writing for something preset, too, especially at time limits and in school. Home, yes, I can curse, chomp half of pencil off and finally create something, but writing in school is hellish.
I, actually, make too many fillers, I think. I am trying to get better at writing, though. I write a bit of poetry, or used to, though I don't really call that poetry, nor I consider my self a writer. It's just... kind of hobby. I could never be good enough to be a writer. ._.

Yuki 08-23-2010 01:19 PM

I never feel like I can write what I really wanna write in school anyway. It's either too "sexy" or "offensive" to most people. <_<;
