So did Edwardian English women. Some were so complicated that wigs were sold for easy hair doing.

Ancient Greek women, too... Historical hairstyles are seriously labor-intensive.

And the Greek and Roman ones took a couple slaves to fix them up.

So did some American Civil War-era ladies.

Not too terribly crazy, but a lot of women had lots of hair that would take more than one person to help style.

And they wore it in an area where the humidity can take off paint.
