not up to uranus yet, will see about getting there.

grineer spy missions are easier. the locks depend on timing rather than solving a puzzle as quickly as possible.

at least fifteen people agree with me.

i unironically use light theme and refuse to go to dark theme.

I like the new light theme better than the old one. I find it quite a bit nicer.

fite me

Stabbsworth 09-11-2019 03:16 PM

new light theme is awful for accessibility, and they should give us the option to switch to the old light theme.

Uranus is where the storyline gets FUN.

Oh, was that your post? I saw a post about it, OP has been using Discord since before dark theme was a thing? I agree that it’s terrible for accessibility; it now has the same lack of contrast which drove me away from Dark theme

Stabbsworth 09-11-2019 03:24 PM

yeah. like, turn the unread messages red or something, y'know? or, actually give us the option to switch to the old theme.

dark theme is too dark for me, but light theme gives me eyestrain.

oh boy, can't wait until i get to the anus planet.

Coda 09-11-2019 03:30 PM

All right, I'll grant you that they went TOO light in some places. The trend of reduced-contrast UIs sucks. Aesthetically I still prefer the general color scheme, but the highlight colors could stand to be a lot bolder -- "light" does not mean "pale"!

Stabbsworth 09-11-2019 03:35 PM

gestures in an excessively vague manner.

i literally now have trouble telling which channels have newer messages and i refuse to use dark theme bc i'm light averse and my eyes have to adjust to other websites if i use dark theme.

+1 to hating having to constantly readjust when switching between windows.

Stabbsworth 09-11-2019 05:42 PM

yeah. it sucks when you've got visual snow (which, believe me, is a real thing) and it comes with light sensitivity.

additionally, i've had an eye infection, which might've fucked a couple of things up as well.

Espy 09-11-2019 05:45 PM

The lack of contrast is really, really fucking with my ADHD.

Gallagher 09-11-2019 06:52 PM

me, a gremlin that swaps between totally black and totally white pages with abandon, has never felt more powerful

Espy 09-11-2019 06:55 PM

gross

mdom 09-11-2019 07:22 PM

oh so coda is the reason we don't have trisphee dark theme :P

Espy 09-11-2019 07:41 PM

We, uh, hmmm.

We technically have *different* themes, but no actual dark theme.

Gallagher 09-11-2019 07:57 PM

we have different themes?

Stabbsworth 09-11-2019 08:00 PM

we have different themes? do tell?

Gallagher 09-11-2019 08:06 PM

yes, please, do tell

Coda 09-11-2019 08:07 PM

There's no theme selector in the settings UI, but we were experimenting with building some alternate color schemes a long, long time ago. The code still exists if you have the "try out this theme" links, but I make no guarantees about everything actually working.

And yes, it is my fault that we don't have a dark theme, but the reason for that is the same as the reason we never finished the alternate palettes -- visual cohesiveness. Trisphee's color scheme is part of its branding, and letting users change that kind of dilutes it. And in particular having a theme with a dark background means that EVERYTHING, including users' posts and font colors, would have to be double-checked for visibility and aesthetics against twice as many different backgrounds. Posts turning unreadable when you switch to the non-default theme is a problem on a LOT of sites.

Gallagher 09-11-2019 08:10 PM

worrying about diluting the brand is stupid and i vote we make themes

i vote we make........ user customizable themes......... let users worry about how ugly their themes are.

DreadedMartian 09-11-2019 08:15 PM

I actually agree with Coda. It makes sense to want to keep a steady theme for your brand. Maybe an alternative theme could be possible in the future. But I know very little to nothing about business management and even less about computers! lol

Stabbsworth 09-11-2019 08:17 PM

that sunset theme does look dope as fuck, though.

Gallagher 09-11-2019 08:22 PM

nooo i wanna make my theme all memes, don't betray me this way

DreadedMartian 09-11-2019 08:30 PM

lol I'm sorry Galla! I dont know how those things work...sounds hard.. and I no hablo code

Espy 09-11-2019 08:32 PM

I wonder if my preference for the sunset theme also ties in to my preference for the old Discord light theme, mainly wrt contrast issues.

Stabbsworth 09-11-2019 08:32 PM

let us use the sunset theme pls.

Espy 09-11-2019 08:34 PM

i mean i've been using it for the past x number of years

Stabbsworth 09-11-2019 08:36 PM

yes, but officially.

mdom 09-11-2019 08:37 PM

where's the link for this sunset theme
everything to run from this green pls

Gallagher 09-11-2019 08:39 PM

i wanna make my header image be

Stabbsworth 09-11-2019 08:39 PM

I do have long-term plans to reintroduce some level of color options; once Toho and I finish the long-delayed UI overhaul we'll be ditching support Internet Explorer so that'll make it easier to do fancier stuff. Still will always have a white background behind anything with user-submittable text though.

Stabbsworth 09-12-2019 10:30 AM

yeah, sometimes layering is a pain in the ass.
