Meh.
It's sad, all the online manga sites are being shut down.. this means eventually the place I download from is gonna be gone! ;-; |
My friends were just talking about that in class today
The site I go to had a set back, Media Fire ended up purging one of the uploaders accounts, so we lost like.. 10000 manga the members are working together to reupload what was lost :3
I haven't been much into anime or manga since I was 16 or 17
I been in to anime and manga since I was 13 and I still love it. x3
lol all my friends are still really into it so I still hear about stuff like that
:3 I am pretty much an Otaku so I can't get away from it. Its my addiction xD
lol its kinda why I avoided taking Japanese. I wanted to take it so I could play video games before they came to the US but I figured it would be full.
I want to learn the language because I think its a beautiful language x3
I really enjoyed Chinese plus being a business major its a useful language to learn
I'm learning Japanese right now because... Well, I wanted to learn Chinese for a while, then I realized how extremely difficult it was and decided to go with something that has a much easier grammatical structure. And I wanted it to be a non-Romantic language, and something that has a bit of a following, so Japanese won out.
The problem is, whenever I tell people I'm learning Japanese, they automatically think I like anime. And I don't. At all. The last anime I watched and liked it was Sailor Moon, and I was ten years old. xD |
I want to learn Chinese as well but Japanese will be the first one I learn
(is 20 years old and has every single sailor moon ep burned* :x the americans Butchered that anime just because it had lesbians in it |
lol yeah chinese is hard. Its the tones that kill me. Reading and writing aren't as bad for me its just speaking
Yeah, I took a class on Humanities of Asia, and my professor for that class could speak Chinese and on an off-day (I think the projector wasn't working or something, so she just had to fill in class time until it started up again) she told us about the Chinese tonal system and how if you say something with what English-speakers might call an "excited" tone or a "monotone", they're two different words. I pretty much killed any plans of taking Chinese classes after I learned that. xD
there are only 4 tones but its not that bad sure it means the difference between "four" and "death" but its never really bad most people know what you're saying. There are a ton of Chinese speakers in my Chinese class
Are you serious D= if its like a bored tone and a happy tone.. they are 2 different words? D= *sticks with Japanese* ><
its not really bored vs excited its more of raising your voice like a question versus saying it flat but you can still say something with a flat tone excitedly
I was just confused about the various nuances that we experience speaking English. Like, is there a sarcastic tone of voice in Chinese? Or anything else that sort of telegraphs meaning without actually saying "I mean this".
Actually, that's something that interests me in all languages. It's the reason why I'd like to learn as many languages as I can, because I think it opens up new levels of understanding about a culture or country. I really like languages. Even though I apparently suck at them, because I've been trying to self-teach Japanese for the last year or two, and I can't speak a single complete sentence. xD |
I think its a lot like English its a lot about body language. But yeah the worst time I've had in that class was when a guy from Hong Kong laughed at my project and said he needed to take a picture of it and send it to his friends in China.
Self Study is hard. I have an account on livemocha but I cant seem to concentrate cause there is no one to study with me. That an there is someone on MagiStream giving Japanese lessons :3
That's really rude. I mean, if you're still learning the language there's no reason for someone to laugh at you making mistakes.
apparently I worded something horribly. But most of the other Chinese speakers are nice and help all of us non native speakers. That guy in particular only took the class to take care of a prerequisite
I always thought the people in my high school Spanish class who already knew Spanish were extremely rude. I realize that the school only offered Spanish as a language course, and two years of a language was required to graduate so they were probably bored, but they all constantly laughed at the beginners' projects and stuff. Like everyone should've instantly known Spanish just because they knew it. :/
yeah but I didn't really care at the time. The only times that sucked were when we were doing listening practice and the Chinese speakers would all laugh and the rest of us were like "what did they say!?"
working on uploading, again xD
