yes there aren't alot of people on weekday wornings and afternoons i find

Lucid: 06-15-2011 07:41 PM

and weekday mornings/afternoons is when I work! so it makes it hard to focus on Trisphee when there's not much going on.

Feythfull 06-15-2011 08:37 PM

thats ok work is important

Lucid: 06-15-2011 08:45 PM

yeah, it is. but it gets slow at work sometimes too. :< I've been here for 3 hours and have done maybe 45 minutes worth of actual work, tops.

Serra Britt 06-15-2011 09:27 PM

I kind of want your job Lucid o.o Though I guess it's no fun being bored, at least you get paid for it.

Lucid: 06-15-2011 09:33 PM

yeah, my job is AWESOME. but I like working the A/V room a lot better than the Materials Room (where I am now) because I can watch movies in the A/V room when I get bored. Right now, I have an hour and a half before I get off...there's hardly anyone online and I've been working all day long so I've become bored of the internet. x.x;;

Serra Britt 06-15-2011 09:38 PM

Bored of the internet o.o

Actually I rarely do anything online except come here and read comics >>

Lucid: 06-15-2011 09:54 PM

I spend most of my time here. I caught up on all my webcomics earlier today, and I can't do much on VDex until I earn more money. I haven't really jumped into the VDex forums much yet. I've already stalked all my new facebook friends a few times, written a letter to my friend serving a mission in Argentina, and...I guess I can read articles on Newser for a while. I don't know how much time Newser will take up, though, because the nature of the site is condensing articles so you can read all your news really fast.

Serra Britt 06-15-2011 10:04 PM

Aww poor Lucid -hugs- Are you allowed to bring books to work?

Feythfull 06-15-2011 10:34 PM

me too

Serra Britt 06-15-2011 10:38 PM

I suppose after a few weeks of that even *I* would be caught up on all the comics I have to read :p

Lucid: 06-15-2011 10:45 PM

I'm allowed to bring books, or my DS, or whatever. I've had my iPod on the entire time I've been here. I just forgot my book in the back seat of my car today. >.<

Newser was interesting today though. I especially liked this article: http://www.newser.com/story/121085/l...n-therapy.html

Serra Britt 06-15-2011 10:50 PM

Wow... it actually makes a lot of sense though. It's hard to deal with anything you haven't experienced before, and it's easier to learn how to deal with things in your teens, or so I've been told :p

Lucid: 06-16-2011 02:01 AM

yeah. I think it makes a lot of sense. it's nice that the theory's more common now. my parents let me make mistakes and I turned out fine. I never did like the kids who were raised in a little bubble of safety and happiness when I was a kid, or even now.

Serra Britt 06-16-2011 02:13 AM

If one never experiences failure as a child, one would find it harder to deal with as an adult. As a child I learned to try again if I failed and I like to believe I keep that going as an adult.

Quiet Man Cometh 06-16-2011 02:26 AM

It's surprising sometimes how often little things from childhood can become usefull when grown. My mom used to let my sisters and I play with most anything, we got craft buckets with all manner of household items and containers to play with, glue and such. We learned pretty quick how not to stick our fingers together, how to handle sharp scissors, and other useful tidbits. It's basic stuff, but has been darn handy.

I still have the scar from when I slit my finger open cutting pears. My mother showed me what not to do with the knife, but I went with the way that felt easiest to me. Won't do that again.

Serra Britt 06-16-2011 02:43 AM

I think cooking is one skill that is best learned younger too, if only for the selfish reason of getting your kids to cook for you sometimes ^^;

Seriously though. I think it's just easier to absorb new things when one is younger. I wish I had been more attentive when my mom was trying to teach me to cook, I find some stuff very hard to grasp now despite knowing the theory behind it all ><

Quiet Man Cometh 06-16-2011 04:11 AM

It is, since the brain is still developing and wireing itself and is open and prepared to process more things. Apparently, we are born with every possible brain connection active and the brain prunes away the connections that aren't used much to make things more efficient. Lac of stimulation and exploration can result in more patheways being removed or less developed with can make some things more difficult to pick up because pathways need to be created again.

I'm not much of a cook, what I can do I picked up from living with dad. I'm ansy around stoves, one of those unforunately effects from childhood experiences; I burned by arm on the oven bottom when I was two and subsequently fried my hand and one finger on two other occasions on the elements. I'm a little uncertain around knives too but not so much.

My older sister thinks it's funny that stoves make me nervous, even though I didn't remember the oven incident. My dad used to tickle my neck all the time when I was little, and he would make this buzzing sound. I still cringe when someoen gets their hand close to my neck, and making that buzzing sound with a hand near by hair is enough to make me cringe too. He's appoligized for "scarring me for life." I'm pretty sure he thinks that's funny too.

Ginger 06-16-2011 05:16 PM

I wish I would have gotten summer jobs when I was in high school. I have no previous job experience and finding a job is that much harder without any experience.

Lucid: 06-16-2011 05:23 PM

I had a hard time finding summer jobs in high school, too. I never was able to get one. I didn't turn 16 until after school had started, and then I slacked off the summer after my junior year. being 17 and moving out to college after the summer was over was a huge disadvantage. I'm lucky I was able to get a job on campus.

Rosekitten 06-16-2011 10:06 PM

~peeks head in~ o3o

Feythfull 06-16-2011 10:20 PM

good evening

Rosekitten 06-16-2011 10:26 PM

evening :) how are you?

Feythfull 06-16-2011 10:57 PM

good but it's time for bed now

Quiet Man Cometh 06-17-2011 02:36 AM

I'm looking for a job. Never had a job in highschool but I did when I wasn't going to school or college. The experience I have then though doesn't really help all that much. The people at the survey firm didn't really care that I knew how to pour a cup of coffee, or handle petty cash. I got that job through my dad, which was a bonus for me. It was my GPA that I had going for me and a basic drafting course that I took in high school.

Serra Britt 06-17-2011 03:59 AM

I have all sorts of retail experience that basically means nothing now that I need a job where I sit :/ It's a bit depressing in a way, it's not like I mind working retail, my body just won't let me anymore.

Quiet Man Cometh 06-17-2011 04:21 AM

Right.

Bleh. Want to watch a cheesy horror film but there are none on right now. Stupid TV. Don't feel like putting a DvD in either, looking for something more casual. Just fiddling with a painting at the moment. Got up really late so not too inclined to go to bed early.

Serra Britt 06-17-2011 04:35 AM

It's pretty late where I am but I'm not tired and am on a laptop so I'm already lying down. I just don't know what to do except hang out here XD

Quiet Man Cometh 06-17-2011 04:46 AM

Yeah. I still wish there was something on TV. Done my painting for now and don't have much else that I'm inclined to do. I suppose I could try another painting. There's a thought, as everything's already out and I have at least two people interested in something. I was attempting some Chinese brush techniques which, unfortunately, I suck at. Need to practice more.

Serra Britt 06-17-2011 05:04 AM

I already know you're better than me though. My art is, well...unrefined. Let's just say I suck at every art technique :p

Quiet Man Cometh 06-17-2011 05:24 AM

I'm just too persistant to quit. I envy those who can scribble up drawings in 10 minutes. I can sketch but proper drawings take me a long time. My cat up there took maybe 20 minutes to sketch and the colouring took probably around 3 hours.

Only have one piece of watercolour paper left though. Alas!

Sudden urge to play around with acrylic paint though, since someone mentioned it in the art forums. I like acrylics. They are more like felts to me, and if you screw up you can paint over them. No such lucky with watercolour. Maybe I should go dig up my colouring book. I still buy them. ;)

Serra Britt 06-17-2011 05:28 AM

Coloring books are fun ;) I kind of miss them.

Quiet Man Cometh 06-17-2011 05:46 AM

So go get one. :p. I have a couple Disney princess books because the drawings are actually nice with enough detail to make them fun. So many colouring books now are on crappy paper with the most basic of pictures that's it's just dull. My favourite one is one that I got in Sweden which is the oddest thing I've ever seen. The cover is a somewhat gibbly looking princess on a swing but on closer look she has a moustache and goatee. Another picture has a slightly skewed drawing of a man's profile with very tiny men with mallets beating on his head to make bumps that look like a five fingered mohawk. I wish I bought two, one to colour and one to keep. The arist even drew a boquet and apoligized in the back of the book.

Serra Britt 06-17-2011 05:54 AM

That's really neat Quiet XD I'm sure I could get a simple coloring book after I move, it's just a dollar after all.

Quiet Man Cometh 06-17-2011 06:04 AM

I find they work to a good wind down too, to get my mind back into neutral or a more relaxed state if I'm agitated from something or have a nervous twitch.

'Tis late, and I'm sleepy. Time to clock out now. Later.

Feythfull 06-17-2011 09:36 PM

2 days ago i applied to a job cleaning a night club not really the best job around but a job none the less and i need a job! And I have been applying to so many jobs and not hearing anything at all back so i was so happy today when the night club called me back lol funny isn't it

Serra Britt 06-17-2011 09:55 PM

Congrats Feythful ^^ I hope you get the job, even if it's not the best it's still something.

Feythfull 06-17-2011 10:14 PM

yes it is and hopefully the pay will be desent

Serra Britt 06-17-2011 11:11 PM

Cleaning/janitorial usually are pretty good since not many people want to do them. But we'll see. I'm hoping for the best for you!

Quiet Man Cometh 06-17-2011 11:55 PM

Indeed. Hope the job is pleasant at the very least.

That reminds me that I need to work on my resume. I've barely even touched it. Just been looking through a bunch of online job sites but I don't seem to have the right sort of experience for what I'm looking for. Might be back to school for me instead.
