A lot of the people who steal feel entitled. Like they feel they deserve the items for free. At least in my experience.

dragoness129 11-24-2016 02:20 AM

Yeah, I can see that being the reason.

Yeah, angry customers don't want to hear any kind of explanation.

Potironette 11-24-2016 02:20 AM

Well, that's true. I can't help but wonder what motivates them XD.

EDIT: That makes sense. If you don't feel entitled, how can you take something?

I've never watched a customer argue with an employee, but that does sound extremely annoying. Kind of like soup kitchen arguments over getting food.

dragoness129 11-24-2016 02:22 AM

I've been a cashier quite a bit in a few different stores. I've seen angry customers.
Never been to a soup kitchen.

Asami 11-24-2016 02:23 AM

Customers avoid me because they know they cant get away with anything with me.

It sucks because if you're nice to me, I give extra discounts and stuff. It's not hard to be a decent person

I worked for a grocery store as a cashier during a semester of college...

One day, we got a warning about people going around trying to short-change cashiers by asking to break and combine things rapidly in hopes of getting more money than they'd handed over.

Somebody tried it on me, but I happen to be really good at computation in my head, so I had no problem with it...and when it became apparent what he was doing, I ended up shorting him some money. :P

Asami 11-24-2016 02:26 AM

That's fantastic.
Great job

I always have a perfect drawer or either up or down a cent or two.
People have tried to scam me but its easy to notice when they try.

Potironette 11-24-2016 02:29 AM

Break and combine things? How does that work :o?

I gave people food packages and signed people in at a soup kitchen for mandatory community service. There would be people arguing about what they wanted taken out or more of in their food packages. And the people who had to sign in, well, I don't really remember it too well. Except some people would yell about something? I don't remember what they were unhappy about X'D.

I live in a place where talking to cashiers is sort of scary. People don't really talk with each other here as the norm, I think. Mutual awkwardness for most ^^;;

Tohopekaliga 11-24-2016 02:29 AM

That's good. :D

My drawer was never off, or, at least, never off enough for them to tell me it was.

Asami 11-24-2016 02:34 AM

We just have to watch them weigh our drawers and stuff. We have a cash master so opening and closing is super easy and quickkk.

It's a normal thing to go up to a cashier who's not busy and say, "Hey, can you give me two twenties and a ten?" and hand over a $50 note.

So, the scam involves doing that, then handing back some of the bills and asking for different combinations.

Potironette 11-24-2016 02:41 AM

Ohh, I didn't realize that was normal :x
I've never seen it happen before XD

Asami 11-24-2016 02:43 AM

Yea it's quite common.
In the end the poor cashier suffers and possibly could get fired for someone being shitty like that

Potironette 11-24-2016 02:48 AM

Oh dear, that's pretty awful, rather shameless for taking advantage of that D:

Tohopekaliga 11-24-2016 02:58 AM

Hence why I did not feel at all bad for taking the guy's money. :P
