Ohh, tell some! I want to read them!

I didn't know stores had stretch budgets for that X'D

littl3chocobo 11-24-2016 01:44 AM

yeah, each store has a different name for it but basically it boils down to allotting a certain percentage of cost to things getting stolen, the customer has to cover the cost though in nearly every instance

Potironette 11-24-2016 01:45 AM

Ah geez, that sucks D:
Either I don't pay attention enough in stores, or I just come in whenever it isn't a good time for theft.

littl3chocobo 11-24-2016 01:47 AM

all times are theft times, you just dont notice XD

ok, i am off for a bit, chat with you later~

Potironette 11-24-2016 01:48 AM

See you cho!

I should pay attention more :o

littl3chocobo 11-24-2016 01:49 AM

taaa~

it will probs upset you if you do XD

Potironette 11-24-2016 01:50 AM

Admittedly, it probably would, but it's better to see it than to not notice it? Ignorance isn't bliss when you know it happens but you don't see it happen?

Besides, there was once a guy who stole my family's laundry card money and I didn't notice until my sister told me D: -I should have paid attention-

This old lady came in one day. And came to me with a pillow that "lost" it's price tag(mind you i work at a thrift shop. Yes suoer hipster) and I'm the only person up front with the abilities to price items. So it was a practically new pillow with the original store price of $24.99
I was feeling nice and generous so I told her $5.99
She immediately told me. "No." And got very red faced. So I told her "I'll have our bed and bath pricer price this for you then" she tried to follow me into the back room which isn't allowed. And i had to stop her.
So I went to my friend who prices the bed and bath section and asked her to put $4.99 on it. Again just wanting the lady to buy the stupid thing and leave.
I even had my friend bring her the pillow and explain why. And the lady blew a damn casket and threw the pillow.
She stormed off towards the front of the store and I followed her guessing she was going to leave with our items.

And she did.
So I followed her out and asked for a receipt and she was like "these were my items I brought it." I couldn't call her oht on the books since we dont put pricetags in books (plus it was half priced book day so she stole like $1 worth of books e.e) but I noticed the plastic container had a new tag on it (we have a color code system) and asked her for it back and she insisted she bought it last week but that couldn't be possible so I called her out on that. Then she threw that at me and left.

Apparently she tried calling the store for me like 10 times (It was Halloween time so we all were forced to dress up every day and that day the easy outfit was a witch ) we got repeated calls for "the witch"
We all figured she wanted to scream at me more
But she came back into the store "crying" and "apologized to me" basically she was upset she got caught and didn't want to feel like she did a bad thing and also wanted to buy that plastic thing.

Everytime I see her I stalk her or have someone stalk her around the store lol.

Heh, that story ended pretty well on a sort-of happy note. The things people do X'D.

dragoness129 11-24-2016 02:00 AM

Wow, people. -shakes head-

(Poofed to work on updating my quest thread)

Asami 11-24-2016 02:02 AM

I low-key call people out on switching tags by saying "oh this is the wrong price. You can see where someone tore the tag off" and watch as they pretend it wasn't them. Like "oh I knew that deal was too good"
Lol.

Tohopekaliga 11-24-2016 02:05 AM

It's sort of staggering that people try to rip off thrift stores. It's already super cheap... o.o

Although, all told, I'm not surprised by it.

dragoness129 11-24-2016 02:09 AM

Yeah, it is nice getting things for cheap, but only if it is an honest cheap.
Even still, the price can add up. I would like a lot of things, but know I don't need them. It would just be spending money on something I want.
I did buy myself one want thing, a Master Ball Pokemon Lanyard. It was $2.97 at GameStop.

Potironette 11-24-2016 02:11 AM

I don't really know what people think about when they try to steal '~'
Stealing's illegal anyway, but what's the reason behind it..? Do most people feel it's necessary or do they get a kick out of it?

-a bunch of unanswerable questions-
------------------------------------------------
My mom once said to me that whenever someone accused her of something, no matter what, she'd deny it. It's sort of similar D:

Asami 11-24-2016 02:16 AM

I mean technically I work at a "high end" thrift shop.
We are basically a department store.
But like. Our prices aren't even bad. We price according to brand. So expensive brands cost more than mass marketed stuff from Walmart or target.
Half the people are impressed and think our prices are great and the other half think it's too expensive.

But it's not like we can even control anything. The way we price things is regulated by the store policies. If we dont price the way the store makes us, we get in trouble.
We have this simple star rating program. 1 star is the cheapest and 5 the most expensive and each star has a price point and price points vary depending on the type of clothing like jeans price points are higher than t-shirts.
But we have very precise guidelines on how to price virtually everything.
So when people complain and treat us like we do it to spite them it sucks. Plus it's way too complex to explain to an angry customer.

dragoness129 11-24-2016 02:17 AM

-shrugs- Who knows what goes on in everyone's mind.
Each person may have a different excuse for trying.
