Sorry, Ulty, but no.
The mage who poofs in to help the party for one battle in the beginning, and then doesn't show up until the last boss battle, after all the riddles point to him as a legendary figure. |

Semi-neutral. -cough choke hack-
A Rune Warrior hailing from the northern tundra, who helps the party after they're stranded. |
Suave Ladies man and gunslinger of the party. Besides occasionally picking up a lady, or more likely going down in flame, he is also known for having various "contacts" which he prods for information to help the party move forward in their quest.
|
A messenger with seemingly dubious alliances who helps the party out.
|
(The reference was Ultima from Final Fantasy XD I thought my name might give it away)
You play the cocky, gunner character. He has a gambling problem which often leads to the party having no money. |
The evil ruler of the land. You never fight them specifically, but defeat their will to fight.

The mysterious servant and messenger of the Light emperor who rewards the team with special items after accomplishing certain tasks, and gives them letters with information about the story. She also leads the tutorial. |
The enigmatic and wise wizard who lives as hermit far north of a great kingdom. Unfortunately because of his lifestyle and politicians' fear of those with power he is antagonized by the system as being responsible for recent magical disturbances. The party goes out of there way to fight him. First finding his tower in the north already destroyed they follow his trail Further West. All along the way they receive clues that hint the wizard to not be behind the disturbances. Curious but still pushing forward they finally catch up with him just as he's about to kill some woman using a banishing spell they looks remarkably sinister (well it's a portal to hell so yeah).
Anyway they defeat him and nearly kill him only to be thwarted by his loyal wolf familiar. She allowed herself to be killed so he could escape. Fast forwarding through the game the party discovers the woman to be the real perpetrator and possessed by a demon with her own backstory of how it happened. The wizard, still not fully recovered from his wounds, tasks the main party to fight and weaken the demon. Without his familiar he couldn't take her head on. In the end the demon is sealed within his draconic crown instead of banished to Hell where the demon could make a return sooner. The End...wow got a wonderful JRPG idea right there...wonder if it's already taken. |
Holy shit man...that's some serious detail right there.
The bond-of-silenced right hand assassin of the Demon Lord. His face is never shown, and he is rarely ever seen. He appears randomly on occasion, and sabotages the party, with things such as (example:) pushing a boulder off of a nearby cliff at them, or spilling oil where they are heading and lighting it. Later on, they finally get a chance to fight him hand on hand. It is impossible to win this fight, and he takes out the whole party. Right as he is about to kill the party, the reinforcements from the Goddess of Light get there and he disappears. At the end of the game, he backstabs the Demon Lord, absorbs all his powers with an energy stone, and ultimately replaces him on the throne. He transfers the powers into himself in the final boss fight, which results in several different phases of boss fights, each resulting in a transformation. It ultimately leads to them killing the boss. COUNTER detail! xD |
The mysterious dominant male antagonist who actually ends up being an ally but works in a more chaotic fashion that the players' party does not agree with. Thus, he is never recruited but it seen in cut-scenes and mentioned often in dialogue.
@Ultima: Was it a Drawn Together reference? XD |
Nope, I said the reference was Ultima from Final Fantasy XD I thought my name might give it away.
