So like, in the 20's, $63 would be approximately $700 today.

Lawtan 04-17-2014 08:59 PM

Yes, inflation is nuts. (May have just worded wrong)

Vincent 04-17-2014 09:10 PM

Ohhh /forgot we're back in time. XD

uh. I gotta. change my clothes... then. o_o -slinking off before I get mobbed-

Espy 04-17-2014 09:31 PM

Ahh, we should all be mobsters for a day XD

Lawtan 04-17-2014 09:33 PM

I'm good with that.
Scarface...
(Actually, A Dance With Rogues is Mafia-esq, with the Mafia hiding/training the princess whose family was killed in an attack.)

Vincent 04-17-2014 09:34 PM

Haha. xD that would be kinda awesome. I dunno if I have it in me to be a mobster though. XP
-throwing random clothes around-
hmm. Dx... people of these days need more interesting things to wear.

Totally agree with that. Men's fashion in the 1920's was spectacular. ...Can't say much about the girls'.

Vincent 04-17-2014 10:11 PM

xD They had those wide, wide wire dress things ( i think ) that when they ran at a group of people, the people parted , having fear of being bowled over. :3

Espy 04-17-2014 10:43 PM

Actually, what you're thinking about are hoopskirts, which actually peaked around 1780. Bustles and such lasted for longer.

In the 1920's, women's fashion was beginning to take a turn for the less-modest, with the advent of speakeasies and "flappers". Very short (relative to previous eras) dresses, showing a decent bit of leg, sequins, feathers, bare shoulders and arms, with the exception of elbow-length gloves.

Vincent 04-17-2014 10:50 PM

Hm. So it started turning into the dark ages again. O:
And now look at us. XD

Espy 04-17-2014 11:52 PM

Why the Dark Ages?

Vincent 04-17-2014 11:53 PM

I dunno. XD Just randomly said that meaning people getting less modest. XP
and that I consider it 'dark' XD I dunno.

Espy 04-18-2014 01:09 AM

I'm really confused o.o; Dark Ages typically refers to the Middle Ages, in which clothing definitely didn't get less modest. And...consider what dark?

Vincent 04-18-2014 01:14 AM

I. I don't even know. XD I was just refering to how I don't really care for the people of today getting less and less modest. XP

Sometmes I think before I talk.
xD

Espy 04-18-2014 01:20 AM

I...uh, okay o.o;;

I mean, summer clothing for me = baggy t-shirt + black jeans. And then winter stuff is just that plus another longsleeve under the t-shirt and a hoodie over that.

I have female friends who wear low-cut tank tops in the summer, and...I guess that's fine? I mean, it doesn't bother /me/. Seeing girls wear booty shorts makes me rather uncomfortable, though, but fortunately that's not too common in college.

Also fortunate that few of my guy friends wear anything less that t-shirts during the summer.

Vincent 04-18-2014 01:27 AM

xDD I sorry?

Hmm. Wouldn't a baggy shirt be hot? With all the hot air inside? or does it let more air flow through?
I normally don't wear baggy stuff. XD Just doesn't feel too right for me. o-o; My summer stuff is just a t-shirt and jeans + random accessories. Then my winter stuff is random hoodies, or my striped sweater/zipper jacket, and just. stuff. XD (sometimes even two jackets cuz the cold gets to me easier then most people. DX I sit there and unzip one after getting inside, then unzip the other and everyones like 'wha?')

Yeah. XD thats what I mean. The booty shorts. XP I mean. girls around here even wear them during freezing weather. /: I just. Don't even know why. DX

Lmao. XD I don't have too many irl friends that I hang out with, so I don't get to enjoy that kinda stuff XP sadly. xD
