Goodluck getting the book Trystan!

trystan830 01-05-2017 12:51 AM

hehe thanks! i hope i get it tomorrow though

Kitarun 01-05-2017 12:52 AM

Mhm!

What book is it?
What do you usually read?

trystan830 01-05-2017 12:55 AM

this one is The Paradise Snare, it's book 1 of the Han Solo Trilogy. the book starts 10 years before Star Wars, and book 3 ends right before he meets Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi

this is the last Star War series i'll be reading, and then i'm done with all the Star Wars i'd planned to read. =)

i also read paranormal romances and the like... i have a good sized to-read list over at Goodreads. but now that the Star Wars end is in sight, i can request the books that i put off reading to read the Star Wars stuff. XD

Kitarun 01-05-2017 12:59 AM

Ooh, cool.

trystan830 01-05-2017 01:02 AM

yep, i have 8 books as of now that i've let pile up since the summer.... and there will probably be 2 or 3 more that come out in the meantime. and i have two Supernatural books that i bought that i haven't read yet. i know there's another one of those coming out in March, hopefully.....

Kitarun 01-05-2017 01:21 AM

Ive got one of the SPN books... Think its set around season 9, so Ive had it a few years without reading it. Ive been trying to catch up on the episodes first.

trystan830 01-05-2017 01:26 AM

ooh cool! do you know the title?

but yeah, catching up on the episodes is good, since at the front of the book, there's usually a little note saying which episodes the books takes place between

Kitarun 01-05-2017 01:27 AM

Not sure... It might still be in a box here somewhere... We moved a little over 2 years ago.

trystan830 01-05-2017 01:29 AM

ah, i gotcha. i have all of the ones that have been published, but haven't read the newest two yet

Kitarun 01-05-2017 01:32 AM

Ah. Well Im 90%sure it was season 9.... I got it about:... Oh, four years ago? Maybe longer, maybe sooner. Idk.

trystan830 01-05-2017 01:35 AM

LOL! well then, i probably have it, and have read it... and enjoyed it. because Supernatural. =)

Kitarun 01-05-2017 01:38 AM

Do they follow the series pretty close, or do they diverge somewhat?

trystan830 01-05-2017 01:43 AM

well, they take place 'between the episodes' and they're stand-alone stories. but, let's say a book takes place after the season 8 finale, then any references to the first 8 seasons ('remember that time we tackled blah-blah-blah (from Season 5)?') are fair game. they're pretty canon in terms of the characters, but they don't rely exclusively on what happens in the series.

how much of the show have you seen?

Moonshadow 01-05-2017 11:44 PM

I haven't read much the last few days.
I have been reading through Dr. Brian Weiss' books on past lifes/future lives, lives in between lives. Basically reincarnation and hypnotizing people to remember their past lives. I believe in that so I want to learn as much as I can about it.

trystan830 01-05-2017 11:48 PM

got my book and started reading it earlier. didn't get very far though.

it's in my sig line. =)

Moonshadow 01-06-2017 12:06 AM

I just haven't had time to read lately. Doing other stuff.
Today I did 3 loads of laundry, made some candles, made dinner. Seems like the days aren't long enough. When I'm in Florida I hope to have lots of time to read.

Bassy 01-07-2017 03:00 AM

Goal is to read the books my friend loaned to me and the books in my shelf I haven't read. Time to get reading and knowledge!

Kaderin Triste 01-09-2017 02:34 PM

Officially finished my first book of 2017 (on Saturday)!

trystan830 01-09-2017 02:36 PM

yaay Kaderin!

i'm still reading my first book for the year. :)

Kaderin Triste 01-09-2017 02:48 PM

I mean...technically I started reading it in 2016...but I finished it (and read most of it) in 2017.

trystan830 01-09-2017 02:52 PM

hey, that counts in my mind. =)

it just so happened, my last book of 2016 i finished on the 31st!

and started my current book on the 5th. =)

Kaderin Triste 01-09-2017 02:55 PM

Nice! I have 2 other partially read books to finish, then I'm back to starting them from the beginning.

trystan830 01-09-2017 03:03 PM

cool! what books are those?

Kaderin Triste 01-09-2017 03:46 PM

They are Green Rider by Kristen Britain and When True Night Falls by C.S. Friedman.
Technically I also was part way through Roots, but I am barely into it, so I'll probably just start it over from the beginning.

trystan830 01-09-2017 03:49 PM

can't say i'm familiar with those....

but i have a TON of book series that i read that i need to catch up on when i'm done this last Star Wars trilogy. =)

Kaderin Triste 01-09-2017 04:05 PM

I'm not surprised. I tend to read less-popular series'.
XD
Usually it starts when I find a book on clearance that sounds interesting...and then I go from there...

Moonshadow 01-09-2017 10:47 PM

I don't like reading series.
I like when I finish a book to be done with it.
Usually if I find a book I want to read has a sequel or is part of a series, I don't read it.

trystan830 01-09-2017 10:49 PM

i love series. kinda like my tv series, too. =)

Kaderin Triste 01-09-2017 10:50 PM

I enjoy a good series, but when books are made into a series that goes on too long I tend to lose interest. Although it depends on the series.

Moonshadow 01-09-2017 10:52 PM

I love TV series, I never watch shows that wrap a story up in an hour.
But when I read, I don't like them. Basically because when the new book comes out I don't remember the first book. If it is a series that grabs me then I read them one after another.

trystan830 01-09-2017 10:55 PM

two of the series i read stop at 13 books - the Hollows series by Kim Harrison finished up not all that long ago (2015?), and another one is still going, but is almost finished - the Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill. i think it's up to book 10 or 11 out of 13.

and the one i'm pretty sure i've been reading the longest - the Kinsey Milhone series by Sue Grafton - is set to wrap up in 2019. 'Y is for....' is set to come out this year, and then 'Z is for...' in 2019! =)

and Moonshadow - i'm with you there, that i don't always remember the details from the previous book.... but i still read a lot of series! =)

Lol. That's why I generally read old series'. All the books are already out. XD
Well...except for one new series I got into. But I didn't realize it was a new series when I bought the first book.

Moonshadow 01-09-2017 11:06 PM

I read a series of books by Tony Hillerman, they were police procedurals with the main characters being Jim Chee (Navaho police)and Joe Leaphorn. Anyway there were 18 books and I read them all in a row! After I finished I was wondering when the author would write #19 and he died. TBH I was glad not to have to read another book about those two characters. Although I loved them.

trystan830 01-09-2017 11:07 PM

i have plenty of new series i'm reading! =)

what's the plural of series... serieses?

Kaderin Triste 01-09-2017 11:13 PM

Trystan: I had to look it up because I couldn't remember...the plural if series is series.
And my phone is about to die...so I'll be back for more book talk when I get home from work.

Moonshadow 01-09-2017 11:13 PM

good question!
why are they some words that dont seem to have a plural
like 'mice' are they 'meese'?

See you soon Kad
