The ice rink where I went was indoors. Ice doesn't freeze thick enough to support your weight in Georgia. ...Maybe once every fifteen to thirty years....?

I live in the very northwestern part of Vermont, 20 minutes from the Canadian border and it is 18 degrees right now. :( the last two days has been very cold and very windy. Last night the windchill must have been 5 or 0! by next week we should be back up to the 30's. When I went to get the card from my game camera, the ground was frozen and the little bit of snow on it was crunchy. Did you all know that Eskimos have 40 words that describe snow. I read a book once called 40 Words for Sorrow, and it was pretty depressing! haha

Yeah it gets really cold, next Friday should be a high of 9! now that is very cold, those days are just miserable, you don't even want to go out anywhere. Lee you are right, its all their precipitation, they have a name for crunchy snow, etc. Poti: yeah that book was VERY sorrowful, I should have known it would be heartbreaking and it totally was. |

Well where I live they have a phrase for weather: a mixed bag!
We get snow, sleet, freezing rain, rain, wet snow, dry snow, sideways rain, sideways snows, wind. Sometimes I look out the window and its like a frozen tundra. The worst is that in the mid/late fall, the sun just does not come out. We have not had a sunny day in over a month. The sun may peak through but that is it for the day. Just sunless, grey skies. |
