Angel Spirit Girl 03-05-2011 10:46 PM

The Cat Who is a pretty good series of mystery books. ^.^

I like reading fantasy novels.

Demonskid 03-05-2011 10:47 PM

I want to try the Temperance Brennen books D: but the library is too far to walk..

I need to make a friend in this place D<

Madam Kira 03-05-2011 10:49 PM

I've read few mystery novels.
I'm more into books fantasy books like the James Patterson Maximum Ride series. >.<

.rousium 03-05-2011 10:50 PM

Hey Angel! :)

Yeah, my library isn't in walking distance for me either. I love going there though. Haha, I always take reusable bags with me and am thankful that I have a big strong man with me to carry them to the car. :P

Oh! I read that graphic novel, Kira. Do you like Kira or Madam?

Demonskid 03-05-2011 10:50 PM

I like some fantasy..
Murder Mystery
Vampire >:3

anyone ever read the book (ment for age group 13+) The Grand Escape? :3

.rousium 03-05-2011 10:53 PM

No, DK likes mystery tho!

I read all sorts of books but I would have to say that my favorite types are old gothic novels, classic sci-fy, and I do like books about the supernatural although I didn't care for Twilight. I much prefer my vamps to be of the Carmilla/Dracula/Lestat sort.

Pisces 03-05-2011 10:53 PM

I've been soo out of it with books lately, so I've probably no idea of most of these books. I had the unfortunate experience with a super strict AP Lit teacher who made me sick of reading for a while. X__X I can't believe she did that, too. I adore reading.

Demonskid 03-05-2011 10:54 PM

LESTAT!

He was the reason I NEVER read or watched Twilight..

*huggles Vampire Chronicles* I REALLY wanna start collecting that series.. I read most of them thanks to the library <3

Madam Kira 03-05-2011 10:55 PM

I did enjoy the Twilight series, not going to lie.
But my favorite Vampire novels are the ones from the Anne Rice series.

.rousium 03-05-2011 10:57 PM

Yeah, Anne Rice is really neat. Her presence on her facebook is amazing too. She actually posts ALOT and talks to everyone. I recently won an auction of hers and am now the owner of a few of her scarves. One day, I intend to make them into a sort of patchwork quilt or something.

Pie, the books I sent you are really good! I really, really like Kelley Armstrong. She writes about witches, werewolves, necromancers, wizards..all in modern day. It's an awesome series.

Yeah, I don't mean at all to bash Twilight, I just didn't care for it. I don't understand people who complain about it tho as if it's some cruel thing the lady did by writing about fictitious creatures the way she wanted it. It's fiction. If she wants them to sparkle then they can. :P

Demonskid 03-05-2011 10:58 PM

I liked Amelia Atwater-Rhodes's Books "Demon in my View" and "In the Forests of the Night"

oh and Derran Shan's Cirque Du Freak.. (was pissed off at the movie D< )

.rousium 03-05-2011 11:01 PM

I picked up the manga of that at the library. (Cirque Du Freak) I didn't care for it. Was it more then a manga? Like a regular novel? I have a friend who was mad about the movie too, lol. They must have butchered it.

Like they did with Queen of the Damned. Man that movie pissed me off.

Demonskid 03-05-2011 11:02 PM

It was first a Novel series xD

a japanese Mangaka loved it so much he made it into a manga.. then the movie came ._.

Queen of the damned was slaughtered D< *rages*

they did butcher Cirque du Freak ;-;

Madam Kira 03-05-2011 11:04 PM

The Queen of the Damned movie is what got me to read the books. >.<
I didn't know Cirque Du Freak was a book first. o.o

.rousium 03-05-2011 11:04 PM

I mean really! Why did they have to destroy Akasha like that? Ughhh!

The movie wasn't bad, Kira, they just strayed from the story toooo much, imo.

Claudia, in Interview with a Vampire tho. Oh man, she was fantastic!

Pisces 03-05-2011 11:05 PM

Eeehhh...Twilight reminds me more of a piece of fanfiction than true novel writing. Granted, among the better fanfiction, but still of that sort. The fangirls scare me with their avid admiration of it, but hey, I probably scare people my avid admiration of other stuff, so...hard to be completely disdainful of them. XD Definitely wasn't my cup of tea, however.

One question, Rousi. Is the series like Laurel K. Hamilton's one series? Anita Blake? Hers was sort of similar, with the whole werewolves and modern day supernatural stuff in modern day, but Hamilton went from awesome story to erotica writer with the plot aforethought, and that just was not cool. I stopped the series after I realized the books didn't get better. D:< PLEASE no erotica. Or at the least, very, very little/limited. Halmiton's books because like, out of a 300 page book, 250 was just sex.
