I heard from a friend that read the series that a lot of things were cut out of the first movie, but that you wouldn't have known unless you read the books.

ML - Things are always cut out ._. you should read Queen of the Damned then watch the movie xD I didn't like the story enough to want to read the original

Mist - Oh, um She was a child assassin, she refused a queen and got put in a dungeon for a long time so mentally she still sort of a child. Her best friend is a Sinopa named Kyun... after the war she found out she could escape the dungeon and ran into Asura... duckling syndrome, she attached herself to Asura and thinks of her like a mom... and I BELIEVE she has a crush on the REAL Zeo D:< that was my intention.. LOVE STORY! "<(>x<)>"

Staff never used her or zeo or asura again sooooo no love story ._. LOVE STORY DAMN IT! D:< I set it up perfectly too ;n;

It sounds really nice, why don't you just make user run events featuring your npc's and in that way fulfill the love story?
Or maybe write a light novella?

Must be some real good anime

But DK, that's the reason why I tend to prefer the books over the movies. x'D
