I didn't know the bit about Voltaire being Catholic. Huh.
So my initial impression of that song (criticism of using "god" as an excuse) was more correct than my cynical one (put "god" down because it sells). I like being proven wrong about that stuff. Makes me think maybe everyone isn't out to screw everyone else.

xD I have to hear my aunts continuously go on bout how i'll go to hell because i don't believe in any religion.. and when i told them if I 'DID' believe in one it'd be shintoism cause i like its mythology and when i told them that shintoism has many 'kami' they freaked out and said there is only one god. and i'm ll yea yea yea what ever.. i believe in aliens and you don't so shut up.

So many planets out there, with the possibility of there being life on them becoming higher and higher and they claim their god only placed life on this planet.

=o= watch, it will turn out that we were originally from mars and that arc of their religion was really a space ship and brought us to earth because humans fked up mars.

Ahh...yeah. Biggest thing I'd say in the negative about aliens would be the belief that they'd have found/been involved with Earth. Outside of the possibility that the basic form of life may have arrived on Earth from space...making us all aliens...the sheer difficulty of us simply colonizing the solar system (not to mention that though there are several planets with predicted Earth-like conditions, we lack the technology to both reasonably reach them or determine if there is life there...) sort of goes both ways. (Not to mention other issues - we are lucky...or cursed...humanity has survived as long as we have.)

Oh, am a bit interested in Shinto (well, most mythology...comes with the whole "Religion is a form of art" idea and general like of culture studies...)
