Except the ones with the lucky rogue right?
I don't remember, honestly. :P
Well i like 1001 nights much better than grimm fairy tales anyways.
Have you read a 1001 nights collection? |
I have not, actually. I really should.
Yeah they are fun to read, i often took my books with me to school when i was younger and had story times.
oh man XD those stories, haha. the victorians were pretty darn inventive with their abridgements
and now you are talking about the grimm tales again right?
no, 1001 nights, it's a victorian construct, most of the stories are made whole-cloth and what few are not a re heavily abridged XD
One Thousand and One Nights (Arabic: كِتَاب أَلْف لَيْلَة وَلَيْلَة kitāb ʾalf layla wa-layla) is a collection of Middle Eastern and South Asian stories and folk tales compiled in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age.

-shrugs- it does not change the fact that the version known in the west is both abridgement and making stuff up XD so unless you are talking about the pre-1700s variants my commentary still stands
There are editions that are translations of the the earlier collections or a mix of both. People tend to enjoy reading the original stuff too so of course there are unabridged versions.
so are you talking about the unabridged version or the version with alladin? XD
I checked the library the bigger collection is a translation from the 1700 but i also have a collection that is translated from earlier arabic texts so both i guess?
well, good luck and happy reading XD
It does seem my favorites are the ones added in the 1700. I especially loved the tale with the roc, not the one with Sinbad in tho.
And yeah the originals tend to be a bit dry but interesting none the less. |
dry? XD they are erodic, hahaha, dry is not quite what i would say
