....-squints- I mean, Faded Ink is /technically/ sort of blue :P

Gallagher 07-02-2017 02:00 AM

it is, in fact, the "blue" of that set. like the corals, faded is a complete rainbow, but less obviously so because low saturation turns many colors into brown.

just how i like them

Espy 07-02-2017 02:03 AM

Yeah, I know. Is the first faded brown (the one I'm wearing, I think) the "red", then?

Gallagher 07-02-2017 02:06 AM

it's uhhhh brown, red, orange, yellow (yes it looks like green barf), green, teal, purple, blue, then pink and orange from an entirely unrelated story

Espy 07-02-2017 02:07 AM

Oh okay so this one's actually just Faded brown.

...How in the world did the pink and orange happen?

EDIT: Did you like...desaturate Coral...

Gallagher 07-02-2017 02:10 AM

well

monmon was the one that made the new color gradients when we did that big update, right, and i asked for nice vibrant and unsaturated rainbows, which i got, but monmon was also inspired to do a sunset/sunrise thing?

well, she ended up making 2 different versions, and we both liked all 4 of the gradients, so we split them and put the lighter 2 in with the corals and the darker in with the fadeds. neither really fit with their sets, but it's close enough that no one questions it.

anyway, no, the corals and fadeds every shade were all lovingly made by hand and have completely differing hues.

Espy 07-02-2017 02:12 AM

I keep having to run through the shops and buy Faded and Coral items because the gradients are fucking fabulous.

Gallagher 07-02-2017 02:18 AM

corals are A+++ when it comes to testing layering before you blow money on the color you actually need.

XoGizmooX 07-02-2017 02:30 AM

Gizzie loves neons :)

Espy 07-02-2017 02:31 AM

How so?

Gallagher 07-02-2017 02:36 AM

an example of that i mean:

the wide variety of bright, easily visible colors makes it easy to see exactly how well things layer together. with a coral version of items you're likely to use, you can easily do quick checks to see if an item type will work in the way you want before you buy another copy in a color you actually need.

this is how i save aurum, layer testing before i spend

Espy 07-02-2017 02:39 AM

shit that's a really good idea

Gallagher 07-02-2017 02:40 AM

it's good for uhhh color balance testing too? like if you're trying to do a lot of layered things that go color 1, color 2, color 1, etc. just pick 2 of the coral colors to test with and you can see easily if the idea is flawed from the start.

Espy 07-02-2017 02:42 AM

Hm, that's a good point. WOuld probably be easier for me if I wasn't always low on Au.

Gallagher 07-02-2017 02:44 AM

yea probs. my invo is fierce, i'm at the point where i don't really gotta buy new shit unless i specifically wanna show off new shit.
