Oh no Faux, I loved college as an undergrad, it was a wonderful and awesome experience and I met so many people I am still friends with to this day... I am just having a terrible time as a graduate student. Graduate school is sooo different. I was in tears so much. Especially when I lived on campus because I had to work almost 20 hr to get enough extra money because even me taking 4 classes (full time) was not enough to cover the costs with my financial aid. So I had a lot of pressure. Plus being away from home and having almost no free time because I needed to work just to be able to afford rent on campus and such that i had breakdowns. I also had no time to be able to form friendships with my classmates or people I lived with/near. because when I wasn't working or in class, I had to be in my room doing homework. I also couldn't get involved on campus as much either. I was very reclusive and was inside so much, I have no social skills ^^"

Am I allowed to ask how she got your money?

Demonskid 02-15-2014 11:34 AM

I can't open a bank account on my own because of my lack of real job and money, and mom wanted a debit card so she could buy stuff we need/want out of catalogs (she has a payee and stuff to manage money, and because of that, the bank her SSI check goes to wont allow her a debit card) but she's allowed a second bank account for her 'allowance' to buy things off the net.. (which is, mom gives me money to buy things for us both)

So the bank account for both of us, works out for both of us.. ;-; some times..

You seriously need your own account.

Seriously.

Are there any credit unions near you? Usually you only need to have five bucks in your account. I love me some credit unions.

Demonskid 02-15-2014 06:21 PM

I want one of my own, but i cant. not until i get a job

Serena Yuy 02-16-2014 12:34 PM

I had a bank account even when I didn't have a job. I just had to be old enough and have money to put into it. But, it was a college account that was free to use. I do see the need to have a job with some because some banks actually have a service charge just for using it to keep your money in there. My fiancé would have a service charge if he didn't have direct deposit or a certain amount in the account. I used to have a college checking account at that same bank, but they got rid of the college checking, turned it into a normal account and started wanting to charge I think $6-7 a month just to use it if I didn't meet the criteria.

Went to another bank, had a college checking account there... but they had a service charge no matter what. They also didn't warn me that my overdraft protection was no longer in effect and in the end I had -$87 in my account when I left... Fiancé had to pay that for me since I hadn't received any money yet. Finally found a bank that I don't get charged a service charge for a college checking account (I'm in school still). Never made sense to me for a College Checking account to have a service charge.

Sorry for the ranty ^^"

That is why I love credit unions. That rarely happens and they still mostly have free checking. At least the ones around here do.

Serena Yuy 02-17-2014 02:39 AM

That is something I am thinking of looking into when I can get the chance to. Right now what I do have works for me.

Fauxreal 02-17-2014 05:00 PM

And THAT my friends is what really matters.

I can't wait to get rid of my Chase account. When it's the right time. :)

Serena Yuy 02-17-2014 06:59 PM

Oh I did not like what Chase had to offer.
I'm happy with mine so far thankfully not getting screwed like I did at Citizens Bank.

Vicious Whisper 02-17-2014 09:21 PM

Well - I'm only at Chase because I used to be with Washington Mutual, which got bought out by Chase. *ug*

Serena Yuy 02-17-2014 10:18 PM

Yeah, it's like Mike. He's with Key Bank only because his HSBC branch was bought out by Key a couple years ago.
