man, fae lore is something i used to be so interested in, i feel bad for forgetting so much of it

Reyoki 12-29-2011 02:02 PM

Sorry for not responding until now. I was hella tired last night, and it was a little after one in the morning when I made my last post.

I think I'm starting to understand a bit more. I'm going to have to pick up some more literature.

Poggio, no stealing my newbie! *holds possessively*

Asami 12-29-2011 02:03 PM

@funk no ive never read that one! O.o is it any good??
@echo well honestly i think being good in english is better than anything else.. >< but being good in math is great for school but not for anything else really :/

@poggio <333 oh? ;D yes ive read holly black but ive also read the iron fae series, the need series, wicked lovely series, and a few more. right now im in the middle of reading the wings series but i hate it. the storyline is really weird and just not very interesting i mean i like the idea behind it but.. no. just no.. :/

@chocobo i LOVE fae. its just amazing reading and learning about them and junk..

@reyoki bhahaha x) -held-

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 02:04 PM

you should, i suggest anything pertaining to miss mabb or the hunt <3

Asami 12-29-2011 02:09 PM

O: has anyone here every read the unicorn Chronicles? idk for some reason chocobos post reminded me of it.
i used to read the first boook all the time when i was a little girl.. and not that long ago i remembered it and actually read the whole series. it was really good. <3 i love unicorns XD lmfao

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 02:14 PM

i am not sure i have read it

Asami 12-29-2011 02:15 PM

its a really good series i mean its kinda childish in a sense but it gets better as the books progress. the first book is called "into the land of the unicorns" its very small but with each book the size gets bigger and bigger c:

Reyoki 12-29-2011 02:22 PM

I've never read the Unicorn Chronicles, but I've read most of the Vampire Chronicles. I enjoyed it up to the 5th book when religion started creeping into the mix.

Asami 12-29-2011 02:25 PM

oh? who wrote it? i really dont like when authors assert religion in books much. i mean yeah you can has a church but dont force your ideals on us..
ive read a lot of strange vampire books. one that i liked but is kinda weird is the house of night series. i mean it was okay.. i liked the idea that she had and junk c:
another cute book is the everafter. that book made me cry so hard. the first sentence is "I am dead" or something like that. but pretty much this girl has to look through her memories and rediscover her life and how she died ;-; it was sad..

Reyoki 12-29-2011 02:43 PM

Anne Rice is the author of the Vampire Chronicles. They're about eighty bajillion times better than that sparkling nonsense.

Asami 12-29-2011 03:01 PM

oh yeah.. the books that must not be named >>

Reyoki 12-29-2011 03:08 PM

The first book wasn't that bad, but the movie just completely obliterated any positive thoughts I'd had about it.

The Vampire Chronicles are much better. The main character of the series, Lestat, is a vain, egotistical bastard, and you will love him.

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 03:10 PM

actually anne rice was one of my fav authors until the religion stuff haha

DarkForbidden-Love 12-29-2011 03:16 PM

I didn't like her too much even before she had her writing saturated in her beliefs. Her vampires just didn't do it for me, but her Mayfair Witches were okayish.

And hi, everyone.

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 03:17 PM

ah, well i was desperate for gay vampires and high-drama politics, she is as close as i have ever gotten to that

Reyoki 12-29-2011 03:19 PM

I'm actually getting rid of all my Anne Rice books. I have all of the Vampire Chronicles and Merrick. $25 for the lot of it if anyone is interested. I'll pay for shipping.

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 03:20 PM

if i had the money ^^:

DarkForbidden-Love 12-29-2011 03:21 PM

My favorite vampire was/is actually straight. I fell for the original Dracula and haven't really found these new vampires to my liking. And for politics I just deal with what we have, those are high enough drama for me.

And if I had the money...

Reyoki 12-29-2011 03:22 PM

Yeah, I understand that. That's part of why I'm selling my precious books. Well, and I have no more room on my shelf with all the yaoi manga I've bought.

Asami 12-29-2011 03:24 PM

Goodluck on selling your books (:

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 03:34 PM

i am disgusted with dracula, while i /do/ understand it is the preciser to all the vampire bastardizations i enjoy i don't like how vamp lore got run under that particular truck

;^; if i could find someone to buy my dollfie i'd so be on those books

DarkForbidden-Love 12-29-2011 03:41 PM

Choco does not like Vlad the Impaler? ;-;
And what do you mean about campire lore getting run over by Dracula? Cause I am aware that there are a few decrepencies in the book that has some true vampire fanatics disapointed but for the most part it fit rather nicely with original vampire lore.

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 03:44 PM

i do, he was both brutal and effective in his methods

^^: ...the book was hit-or-miss as far as i could see it, also, XD i am one of those fanatics

DarkForbidden-Love 12-29-2011 03:52 PM

Very first Dracula=Vlad the Impaler. It is actually where the novelist got the idea, he was in Romania when her heard about out lovely Vlad and apparently decided that the murderous ruler was actually a bloodsucking immortal creature. I do believe that could be the stem of all the books problems, it tried to turn something that was quite good into something else and it mutated into something a bit worse.

I'm a fanatic and I truthfully did not like it originally. But it is the closest written record to true vampire lore so after time I fell for it. Especially after this generations almost complete falure at the true vampire, it is a reminder that it only takes a couple hundred years for something good to be disorted and destroyed.

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 03:55 PM

dark, that was written beautifully ;^;

DarkForbidden-Love 12-29-2011 04:05 PM

'Tis but the truth. The sad truth that apparently the art of vampirism is lost to this generation. They'll go up with vampires that sparkle in the sunlight! ;o;

If you think about it seriously the vampire has lost its true nature to the sands of time. What was once a symbol of evil, lust, the darkest part of human nature, and absolute corruption is now prime boyfriend material -_- What has this world come to?

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 04:08 PM

i am still on when vampire's were corpses not disco-balls XD

DarkForbidden-Love 12-29-2011 04:11 PM

And I'm with you. The disco ball vampire will never be for me.

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 04:13 PM

but as long as some girl gets wet panties at least vamps won't die XD

DarkForbidden-Love 12-29-2011 04:21 PM

Hehe Guess you're right. :D As long as there is a fanbase, the vamps shall live.

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 04:24 PM

and the only thing that has suffered for it is zombies though to be honest i like them better this way XD

DarkForbidden-Love 12-29-2011 04:32 PM

I can't say I'm terribly familar with zombie lore. I can say that they may eat brains, are most likely created by necromancers, are human bodies reanimated, and cannot exist outside of a fictional realm. That is the extent of my zombie knowledge.(A zombie virus is a completly different matter)

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 04:34 PM

zombies were simply people with their souls removed, thy were basically mindless slaves to the whims of whomever controlled them, other than the lack of free-thought they were regular people

DarkForbidden-Love 12-29-2011 04:35 PM

That is rather boring. Why not just call them mind-slaves and get it over with?

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 04:37 PM

X'D

you crack me up sweetie

DarkForbidden-Love 12-29-2011 04:40 PM

*Gets the glue and duct-tape* I guess that is a good thing, though it is quite hard to put you back together.

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 04:42 PM

lawl~

dude my art request shop is mundo dead, not a single person even posted let alone tried to get a commision

DarkForbidden-Love 12-29-2011 04:45 PM

The one in your signature? It is probably because no one has runes any more. Sellers are disappearing and people aren't donating as much. Also Tris seems to have hit a lull or dead zone if you prefer that wording.

EDIT: I need to pay attention. You say 'Art Request' not "Art Shop" which means you have a request thread? I'll go grab my pencils and see what horrors I can cook up.

littl3chocobo 12-29-2011 04:47 PM

no, i have a request shop

DarkForbidden-Love 12-29-2011 04:50 PM

I noticed after I posted that. *Head please meet desk* Also, I have decided to see what I can do though with my current drawing theme I might have to wait abit. (Unless you like wierd, disjointed, and fantsy all rolled into one)
