I'm going to this highlighter blacklight party next weekend and shopping for brightly colored things that I'll be testing under my blacklight before I actually go 8D

@ Allurcore - Traditionally, the mother-to-be wouldn't know about the baby shower in advance; it would be a surprise party.

@ Ginger - Yeah. Like, most of my cups are just regular glasses, but I have too that are more like clear glass mugs, with designs and handle, and I love those two. They're my favorites. I was holding one of those, and I was glad it didn't break. The one that broke was just a plain glass.

@ momo - Good morning! I just woke up. What are you up to?

XAllurcore 04-01-2012 03:06 PM

I don't see how a baby shower would happen if its a surprise.
Cause the mother to be has to do registry's. And for games have to get her belly measured and answer questions for games, so.
I don't see how anyone can pull it off as a surprise. xD
Unless people make it a surprise for some and have NO games and people get things that the mother to be doesnt want.
I got alot of stuff I wanted from my registry. :3

Anyway, it was good, till then end. >3>

Usually the shower is coordinated by someone like the mother-to-be's mother or sister, or a close friend.

I believe this person will usually inquire as to the gifts the mother-to-be wants in order to do registries. Naturally, this person can also ask about belly size and such, although there is also obviously the possibility of games that don't require such information.

I know times are changing, and this kind of thing doesn't matter so much anymore, but that's the traditional way.

Oh. xD
I didn't know that.
I never been to a baby shower that was a secret to the mommy to be, even back when I was a small kid myself. :3

Miharu 04-02-2012 06:05 PM

Hmm... I don't think I've ever been to one myself, but I've known of my mom going to a couple and talking about them. And then when she heard of someone a few years ago who knew all about her shower beforehand, she went on a rant about how untraditional it was. I kinda see how it might be easier to know about your party in advance, but I think surprises are more fun. >.<

XAllurcore 04-02-2012 10:34 PM

I'm going to be 20 this month and Ive been going to baby showers since I was six. xD
None were surprises because the mother to be would be the first one there besides the host. :3
Maybe some areas are different. :3

Baby showers are soooo fun...until they're a surprise to the mother in law...That's when it's HILARIOUS!!!

Miharu 04-02-2012 10:52 PM

Ooo, when's your birthday? =D

Lol, maybe that's it. Here, younger kids usually aren't brought to baby showers either. XD I'm from upstate New York, so...
Either way, it doesn't really matter. What matters is that you enjoyed it.

Kali_Namir 04-02-2012 10:55 PM

How is everyone today?

Miharu 04-02-2012 11:05 PM

Meh, ups and downs. How are you?

Ginger 04-02-2012 11:06 PM

Hey Kali n__n I'm doing great! How about you?

Baby showers should definitely be a surprise for the mom-to-be, in my opinion :) It makes the mother feel special after having to carry a fetus around for 9 months.

Kali_Namir 04-02-2012 11:11 PM

I'm doing fairly great. Just got on for the first time in like 3 days or so and I get to see the new RDI's and facial things that I've got to buy!...OH goodness!!!
