Well, the way I've played it online before is that the "storyteller" is more like a moderator. Everyone discusses who they think is the killer consistently through the game and it doesn't really matter too much whether it's night or day. the killers PM the storyteller who they choose to kill. the townspeople cast their votes for who to hang in the thread, and the storyteller writes and posts a daily/nightly/whatever story of who got killed and who was hanged. the day and night is mostly important for getting the votes for hanging counted correctly, and keeping the game moving in a timely fashion.
|
With that though wouldn't the killers feel a little out of the game? They wouldn't be making much money compared to the townspeople. xD; I'm thinking simply because it's not a spammy forum game but you're not really role playing, you're discussing... Ugh.. xD; |
THe killers discuss too. They blend in and pretend to be villagers during the day
|
yeah, that's how the killers avoid getting killed. if someone's not talking at all, it's suspicious! :O
Gaia had a game like this in community discussion for a long time but it eventually moved to a guild (which is where I started playing). but we don't have guilds, the closest thing we have is hangouts and it's not really that either. hum. I guess it could fit in a community discussion simply because we're discussing the other users on the site (within the game)? each killer gives a clue, and a "seer" can learn the clues about the killers, so it's like user-trivia. for example, my clue could be "I am a bed-invader" - in reference to Lucid Dreams happening while people are asleep in bed. everyone would have to talk about who that clue would best fit. |

:O I spy a Fenris!

Hmm... Didn't think of that. Umm, I wouldn't put it there simply because it could be mistaken for more of a game than a discussion and get moved to the sub forum here which kind of isn't fair. I think RP again but if you want you can seek a second opinion. ^^ |
yeah, I wouldn't put it there on first instinct, but I was showing how it could be justified.
my only concern with making it an RP is the possibility of driving potential players away because they don't want to make a profile or stay in character the whole time. |
Tis a Fen!

I've been spied!!!! -hides-

This is true, Lucid. But technically isn't the "moderator" of the game the person who picks who's a killer and who's not? And you could state that setting up a specific profile is not necessary, they could be rather blunt and be like, "It's my avatar, I'm such and such gender, I'm like this <insert small description>." Would that work? |
the moderator/storyteller would probably pick using a random generator or something. (Player #1 is Chi, Player #2 is Lucid, Player #3 is Fen. random.org generates a 3, so Fen kills us all.) but yes, they would pick who gets a role, and instead of posting a lot throughout the day, post large walls of text describing the deaths of the people. and posting occasionally to remind people to vote, killers to send PMs, et cetera. L has already volunteered to do this, as long as I'm the one organizing all the rules and gathering players.
I guess as long as a huge profile isn't necessary, putting it in RPs wouldn't be bad at all. |
Ah ha!! *tacklehugs Fen*
