My tablet makes drawing a trillion time easier, I must say.

I miss my old scanner. I didn't draw, but it was nice for keeping my documents organized. (:

I want a tablet even though it will be years till I'm good at it.

I also want a tablet but I have a sneaking suspicion I would have trouble getting used to it to the extreme of never picking it up again because the first try was a disaster. xD

As long as you get a tablet with the "paper texture" on the drawing surface, it's pretty easy to get used to.

Avoid the tablets with the glossy finishes. Some people can use them well enough, but most have trouble when there's no friction while drawing.
