I love those nails!! <3 So sparkly and Derpy's colors go well as a gradient!
|
Fun fact, my operator in Warframe has Derpy’s color scheme as their hair color.
|
Pretty kad!
Dumb question: how does one even do a gradient? My nail skills end at being able to do a tip lol |

The first time I did a gradient, I used this tutorial. But with a basic cosmetic sponge. |

I'll see if I can succeed in nail gradients, myself. 8D I've tried before once I think and the colors didn't really go together. ;u;
Anyway yesterday I went out with friends to Japantown in SF and got to go to my favorite shop there where they have Ghibli things and got a mini Yakul from Princess Mononoke. x3 https://i.imgur.com/LifNPmw.jpg |
100% willing to help pick colors if you want!
And awwww, that's so cute! Would love to visit there someday if I ever have money. |
Those nails are nice btw! :) <3 I used to paint my nails all the time in jr. high! But I only used stamps and the magnet polish. <x} Now I have naked nails, because I got tired of people looking at my nails. <u<; Makes little sense I know. hehe.
|
I kind of get it. It can be weird to have people constantly commenting on a body part.
Tbh, when I actually spend time doing nail art, I wish more people would notice mine. There's not usually much to compliment me on, I don't wear "fashionable" or cool clothes or accessories, so my nails are the one thing I have that I try to make look good, but no one really notices, so it almost feels like a waste of time to do fancy things with them except that it makes me happy. (Lol, should I make a nail art gallery on here to show off some of my nail arts?) I need to work on my stamping skills, I was starting to get decent at it, but haven't done any in a while. Plus it's a pain to do in the summer because my apartment is so hot that the polish dries almost instantly. Even the special stamping polishes. I pretty much excel at gradients and watermarbling (simplynailogical would hate me! Lol), but could stand to work on other things. I'm decent at using nail vinyls also, but sometimes they don't peel up super cleanly no matter how fast I work... |
Ooooh! Thank you Kad <3 I'll have to try it some day

And thank you! :3 Yeah, I don't visit often so it's fun when I do. ;u; |
One important thing to keep in mind with gradients is that some types of polish don't play well together. One attempt I made involved a pastel pink polish with a hot pink glow in the dark polish and, I swear, it took at least 7 coats of dabbing to get the gradient to show up properly.

Oh sh*t. o-o Today I gotta go to the market to get some important food stuff. I totally forgot. I'd better be ready later. >C> Ack!
|
XP
Forgot that I needed to swing by Target, so decided to stop at a coffee place for lunch intead of going home. Derpy would be so jealous... |
oCo I! Must write! >:d
|
I need a bigger freezer. Or one of those stand alone bulk ones.
|
Ooohhhh, I really hope the job my friend told me might be opening up in Oct is enough hours to leave the museum for (and that I can get it)! Because it would be so good! No dealing with people and basically just maintaining the dvds...but idk if I'd need special training for it.
|
@c@ My feet are asleep!!!
And I just started my period. <x'{} *sad waluigi 'wahs'* I have to get food! >:o |

Oh no, Boss, you've barely even been at work for the last 3 months, but no no, go ahead and tell me how I'm doing my job wrong while you can barely make the effort to show up for yours.
Also: I think I am 100% talking to our lone front desk person tomorrow and basically telling them that I just cannot and will not take any more day shifts during the week. Saturdays and evening shifts if I'm not working my other job? Sure, but no more full days. It's too exhausting and front desk personnel and tasks are NOWHERE in my job description so if they're really that desperate, the director either needs to hire someone or promote me, but I just cannot keep bailing them out like I have been for no thanks |
I'm learning so much about The Vietnam War this week. 0-0
It's interesting...and probably the only war I knew the least about. |
It's not surprising that you didn't know much. The Vietnam War was an embarrassment. Pretty much the only time anyone talks about it is when they're talking about the veterans.
|
o-o I'm inspired to write a stage play or short story set in Vietnam now...out of respect and representation of the people who died and fought in it.
|
My father-in-law fought in Vietnam. When he got back, he protested against it. The Army stripped him of his medals. They told him he could get them back if he submitted a formal apology for protesting.
You can probably imagine how he responded to THAT. At this point, the Army would probably give them back if he asked, no need for an apology. Plenty of time has passed and the way things are run has changed. He doesn't want to give them the satisfaction and after this long he doesn't care enough to deal with the red tape. |
:/ Wowh.
I don't know many people at all who served in Vietnam during the war. :[ My great uncle served in the Korean War and died several years ago..none of my older uncles ever even enlisted, because they were too young I think. :{ I just know a lot of Vets came back to homelessness, joblessness, underappreciation and ill-treatment. Especially during a time where Civil Rights was being fought for. :/ I didn't talk to him, but at an ice cream store, a guy came in with a cane and an army hat who was a Vietnam vet, and he was talking to the ice cream guy about it. He looked like a very sad santa claus that has seen some shit. I think some lady or some dude thanked him for his service and he just told them something like, "Nah, don't thank me. Nobody should be thanked for what we did over there. I'm not proud of any of it." o-o Can't recall the rest of the conversation, but he just walked out saying goodbye and seemed both chill and outspoken but very disheartened. <:[ No one but other Vets from Vietnam know what he went though... Almost done watching this documentary series on the history and reality of the Vietnam war. 0-0 It really was a losing war, with lasting damage and US government did it's best to cover up the fact that we lost it and it wasn't even necessary. <:[ Eesh..I'm glad I'm learning more about it though. Never learned about it in all my years of history classes. |
I really should actually learn more about history and wars in general tbh. We don't really have enough time in school to go into much detail as they generally cram all of US history from the beginning to present all in during the approximate 9 months of school. Or closer to 8 if you take into account holidays.
On an unrelated note...really want to save up and buy a little "portable" washing machine for my apartment. Something I could maybe store in my closet and just wheel into the bathroom to wash clothes. Also a drying rack for my clothes. Would be way more convenient than trying to save up quarters for a laundromat and trying to get over to one without a car... But on the downside, for a really good quality one, it can easily cost $250+ XP |
I can definitely recommend the Panda-branded ones. I had a mini-washer and mini-dryer that I bought for my apartment when I lived in California. Worked pretty well. Sort of a pain sometimes, but totally worth it to avoid having to drag my stuff to the laundromat and sit around for hours.
But $250 for the washer alone... yeah, that's about right. |
Lol. I'm actually pretty sure that the one in my amazon cart right now is a Panda brand one...
Not sure that any store in town has them so amazon may be my only way to buy one, but they do offer payment plans on them, so I could theoretically do that, but I gotta pay a few bills off first so I can budget for that... >.> |
I ran out of bananas today, so my recovery shake tasted less nice. <x}
...also I need to WRITE, dammit!! >xS |
Hmmmm....thinking abut my apartment layout....really would love to find a way to move the computer/sewing desk into the living room-ish area (where I would like to make a sort of craft area)...but I have such small spaces. Need to clear out all my bulky, seldom used furniture at some point...and also figure out just better storage for a lot of stuff. XD
I am absolutely awful at the home decor portion of adulting.....among many others... |
I have a weird aversion towards babies and little kids. <x{ The reaction everyone else seems to have towards them is exactly my reaction towards puppies or kittens. o-o; Even lizards. I smile and wave at lizards, but babies? Nope. x} No thanks.

Yes! Dragons too are important! -W- |

I do fine with older kids, the age at which you can actually talk to them and when they already use the toilet on their own. But I still wouldn't consider them cute - can I just have a kitten and some ice cream instead? ^^ |

Aww! x}
Also I love how the kitty is just lurking in the background with the most curious face. |
Lol. That one is Shade. Batty is also lurking in the background, but is harder to spot as the room is dark and he's black. XD
