There is a fire red emu, that has pikachu follow you around and not only that it takes you through ash's quest.. x3

Have trouble with Gold or Silver? Apparently the deal with the original ones is that in order to keep real time on their clock function, they needed a continuous battery. Unless you actually break the cartridge open and change the battery, once it dies the game can no longer save. I can play mine on my old Gameboy Pocket, but it won't save. I haven't tried to play Blue lately. I've been debating selling it and my GB pocket since I don't really play them anymore. Can't find my charger for the Pocket though. Go fig.

I'm playing Black again but I still can't really decide on pokemon that I like. Not as fond of these newfangled new gen fellows. I mean really, spoink? What the heck is that? I'm playing around with mincchino and litwick right now. My leipard is having some issues holding it's own.

My snag is that I like too many of the normal types! Wonder how a whole normal pokemon party with some varied attacks would do? I'm currently stuck at this bridge right now. I haven't played Black in so long that I can't recall what it is I'm supposed to be doing. In SoulSilver I'm training to take on Red. His darn pikachu sucks! I've only seen three of his pokemon so far but I can guess at a couple others.


EDIT: Oohhhhhmygod! Just finished a battle on the subway and I had one fainted pokemon, another pokemon in the red, and my main guy was poisoned and at 1hp!

*Sits and plays Black some more.* I love taking wussy pokemon into tough areas and watch as their levels go up 3 or 4 per battle. :D.

Do wild pokemon caught in the thread start at level 5? Trying to decide what level Abra would be. I notice your PC guys are all level 5, DK.

EDIT: bah! Someone help me decide what Pokemon to use in Black. I've got a team of four but I'm having trouble picking the last two and I'm on the 8th badge. I'm playing around with Druddigon (not sure how that's spelled) and Minccino right now, but would kinda like another element pokemon since I have two other normal already. Just can't seem to find someone that I like!

I kinda miss having my little tag-along pokemon too. Why did they take that out for the recent games? I thought it was fun. I liked talking to the little things.

And random comment, but I was watching a nature show that talked about the Pika, little big-eared rodent thing that looks like it could be related to the chinchilla, and it does sort of make this little "chu" noise.

in japanese 'pika' is the sound word for sparkle and 'chu' is the sound word for the mouse squeak :3

I still think the actual Pika might have had something to do with it. ;). They are cute. Just google image "Pika." I love the way they look with faces stuffed with grass.

Pikachu is one of the few that didn't have its name translated ._. i like that.. *huggles pikachu pillow* they need to stop renaming shiz

I guess they thought it was cute enough not to Westernize it, and it was relatively easy to read and pronounce for people used to English letter sounds. I wonder why they do that sometimes too, especially when the Japanese names seem to do the job fine.

there was this seminar thingy at the one and only con i went to.. it said they changed the names of anime (and game characters) that 'seemed' complicated so children can understand them.. and then they watched as children found the japanese pokemon names and were using those instead. =w=,

People underestimate kids a lot I think. It's like how "Philosopher" was changed to "Sorcerer" in the first Harry Potter book title, because they didn't think kids would "get it." It's not like the guy had a very big role besides making the stone, and the Philosopher's Stone is a real life thing (in myth and such, that is) and people did try to make it, so why make the change?

adults don't give kids enough credit.. the dumb things down so much it makes it hard for kids to learn.

Yeah. My mom has been after me to write some books for kids on dogs or something that actually teach things since so many kids' books are so basic.

I heard some place was editing "Twas the Night Before Christmas" to take out the part of Santa smoking. Years from now people will be searching for the original and talking about how the censorship reflects on our sheltered cultural values.
