Awww, Derpy's post got featured on a local coffee shop's Instagram story feed thingy...

(Also, Mer, I hope it's okay that I'm using your art for his profile image, it's just too cute to not show off somehow!)

Merskelly Metalien 07-09-2019 08:12 PM

DAwwwwhh! <x'D So cute! Congratulations Derpy!

Derpy McBlueEyes 07-09-2019 09:23 PM

Derpy waddles in, waving his paws and giving grateful head-nods in various directions as if there were a crowd of fans. "Tank you! You can find me on instagwam. @derpymcblueeyes"

KittyBeary 07-09-2019 09:24 PM

Aww, congrats Derpy! :3 Local coffee shops are great! <3

Kaderin Triste 07-10-2019 12:30 AM

I will say that not ALL local coffee shops are great. There are 2 (out of 7) within reasonable walking distance from my apartment that are....not great, to put it politely. But most are pretty awesome.

Kaderin Triste 07-10-2019 12:39 AM

Lol. Orders pizza for dinner. Goes outside to wait. Scares the crap out of a guy coming out to take a smoke. Scares crap out of second guy coming out to
, I assume, fully close the door (which is propped open with a chunk of concrete at the moment) after first guy is done. 5 minutes later, still no pizza, first guy comes out and is all "aw crap, you're still here?" then walks over and gets in his car and drives away.

So glad that I'm a disappointment to strangers, as well as my family...
XD

Kitalpha Hart 07-10-2019 10:58 AM

Dear doc: hurry up I'm short on sleep this is past my bedtime and I work today. Being cranky at work will not be good
Dad would also like you to hurry up so he can get some sleep in before work too

Merskelly Metalien 07-10-2019 11:26 AM

I'm in desperate need of a shower, but I'm going to be rolling around on the floor and sweating later so...I think I'll wait. -_-;
I require brekkfasst! >:{

bluebird 07-10-2019 03:06 PM

same. i'm sweatin buckets in this weather

random thought for the void: surprisingly, i feel like bing's translator is better than google's. the x-to-english translation just flows better imo. GG microsoft

Coda 07-10-2019 04:43 PM

I don't necessarily trust either of them for accuracy of translation. If Bing is a little nicer-looking on the output that doesn't say anything about if it's really what the source text said.

KittyBeary 07-10-2019 05:50 PM

Well, I guess coffee places can be a hit or miss. ouo

i'm very tired and unsure what to do with my life. i don't think i'd be cut out to be a therapist or anything, and physical work isn't my forte.

Merskelly Metalien 07-11-2019 07:03 PM

I'm slowly building muscle in my arms with my exercises each week. o-o; I'm seeing some shape but only when I flex. It's cool but like baby results.
Like trying to grow a bean plant and you are seeing a tiny green stem poking out of the soil. xD I'm helping better my weak ass torso noodles for life.

Where'd "therapist" come from? That's an awfully specific career choice. There are tons of other white-collar jobs out there. There's computing, accounting/finance, science, education, law, management, customer service, art, entertainment... I'm sure if I tried I could think of more.

You're a girl. Unless you malnourish or dehydrate yourself (or use steroids), you're not going to see a whole lot of definition when you're not flexing. (And even guys don't naturally show the kind of definition you sometimes see in the media; that's the result of intentional dehydration in order to lose water weight before a photo shoot or competition.)

In other words: Good work! Keep it up! Even if it's not visible, that's a super positive result.

i'm good at listening to people. thing is, i don't have any qualifications.

could do a waiter job.

also, apparently warframe is free. i'll put some time into it and see if i can't get into it.

Of course you don't have any qualifications. You're sixteen. If you had qualifications, that would be weird. Seriously, don't stress out about it.

Being a waiter would fall under "customer service". It's a perfectly respectable job, and being a good listener would be a benefit there.

EDIT: Being a clerk, receptionist, or secretary would ALSO be a good role. You obviously know how to operate a computer and you can type well, so being in a position where you're listening to what people need and helping direct them to where they should go might be something appealing to you.

KittyBeary 07-12-2019 09:31 PM

i'm pretty fast at typing. it's when i make mistakes that gets me annoyed, esp when i'm half asleep, haha.

also, like, nothing in this area takes you in for just one job. it's all multiple jobs having to be done on minimum wage because they love understaffing their stores, man.

Yes, but on the other hand, you're sixteen. I can't reiterate this enough. Part time minimum wage to someone who's still in school is just gravy. If you work a customer service job (food service counts, don't look down on "burger flippers" -- I worked at burger shops before I got a professional job) over the summer in high school or part-time while taking classes in college, that gives you an income that not everyone has... and more importantly, the job experience you were saying you were worried about.

Or you can not worry about it and enjoy (legally) being a child for a while longer. It's a respectable choice and it doesn't really set you behind.

Merskelly Metalien 07-13-2019 12:05 PM

:] I'm going to a flea market. I'm in my 20's and I enjoy them more than the mall. Even though some stuff might be cheap because they're old and worn...it's interesting to see what I can find. :} I go to swap meets and goodwills too, but flea markets are like tiny museums where it's legal to get modern artifacts. <3

Kaderin Triste 07-13-2019 04:24 PM

Lied to one of my jobs about my work availability tomorrow. I feel bad for it, but it's my only full day off and I've already put in more than 52 hours and I need a break for my mental health.

Merskelly Metalien 07-14-2019 04:48 PM

Meanwhile in California, the sun is deciding to make everyone's day worse with blazing heat and hot air conditioning. x} *hides inside where there are refrigerators*

I enjoy thrift stores and flea markets a lot too. :3

If you're not available due to mental health, you're not available. That's not entirely a lie.

What state are you in, anyway? It might actually be ILLEGAL to push you harder than that.

Kaderin Triste 07-15-2019 08:23 PM

I mean, the 52 hours is between the 2 jobs (14 at Joann, 38 at PGS) so idk if there's anything in any state that would count for multiple jobs. But I'm in Montana, so feel free to check if you want.
XD

Merskelly Metalien 07-15-2019 11:33 PM

x} I went to a vegan bistro today for dinner. I'm not vegan, but I like to eat healthier. I saw cauliflower steak with veggies and brown rice on the menu and ordered it. Then I remembered I was at a vegan restaurant when the dish came and it was like a hunking bunch of steamed and cooked cauliflower in the shape of a steak. <x'D

My dumb ass thought it would be actual meat made with plant based ingredients that tasted like steak. I ate it anyway though. x'} But that was kinda funny.

KittyBeary 07-15-2019 11:59 PM

Bwahaha, great fabric XD

Holycrap a fanmade version of Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis has been released and I am in shock *u*

“But we're a bunch of raw materials that don't mean to be — have any process upon us. Don't mean to be made into any product. Don't mean to end up being bought by some clients of the University, be they the government, be they industry, be they organized labor, be they anyone! We're human beings!

There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part! You can't even passively take part! And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels ... upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop! And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!”

Kaderin Triste 07-16-2019 01:48 AM

Ugh, the flimsy insole in my shoe is all bunched up under the arch (base knuckle...where the toes meet the foot?) of my toes and I can't just stop and fix it right now as I'm in a "sketchy" (at worst, I've only ever had drunk dudes in their friend's cars either yell "bitch", "slut", or some generic sex propositioning at me, but people assume the area is much worse) area at almost midnight.

Edit: because of the insole's squished location, it was making me walk a little ofd and my shoe has been rubbing my heel raw. T_T
Not again... xP

Biomecha 07-16-2019 02:19 AM

Trying to relearn my rowing (erg) form to avoid re-injury. But it requires a lot of focus and going slow and I just get anxious and want to speed things up. Need an actual coach. Would like to try a real boat on real water, but not sure how likely that will be.

Impotent rage. What a good descriptor.

I knew I was going to make myself mad, digging up my copy of Brave New World and reading that again, all in one night, but I damn well did it anyways.
