I'm not asking for anyone to be perfect... but at least decent... pls

Biomecha 05-12-2021 11:14 PM

Hopefully no one finds my...I mean yeah, is decency hard to ask for?

I did have to say goodbye to my doggy. It's the first time in my life I've been without a dog by my side. It's strange when you're used to always have a presence following you around your entire life. Like losing your shadow.

mdom 05-13-2021 03:03 AM

Oh no D:
I'm so sorry, Bio. Let me know if I can do anything for you!

Biomecha 05-13-2021 04:22 PM

I could borrow your sister's doggies? I'd like to foster greyhounds, but not quite sure how stressful that might be because of everything involved with the human aspect.

mdom 05-13-2021 11:30 PM

Even the one that likes to bite? xD

iirc Medi Mint fosters cats. I'm not sure how different it is |D but I could ask her for tips.

Biomecha 05-14-2021 03:51 PM

I doubt she can help with interacting with the people, since that's the part that is too anxiety inducing. Especially if they have to come do house checks or anything. We never have guests and I have an unconventional way of living, so I don't know if that might raise red flags from their perspective.

mdom 05-14-2021 08:39 PM

Ah, I see.
Why does everything have to include people...

Biomecha 05-16-2021 11:23 PM

So far, it looks like there is an agency nearby that might at least be worth looking into. My father's dog might not have much longer either, so he's probably going to need the company of a dog too even if we can't keep them.

mdom 08-22-2021 02:42 PM

How was it with the agency

Biomecha 08-22-2021 11:57 PM

I looked into it and they actually stopped taking in dogs recently due to the racing track closures, and aren't looking for new fosters. I might try the orientation with a general type of animal adoption agency to at least learn a bit about the process, but they don't pay for the costs like some do.

mdom 08-23-2021 12:40 AM

Aw that's sad.
but also dog races??? why D:

Biomecha 08-23-2021 11:03 PM

They enjoy the racing. Just too many people involved who have to ruin things as usual. We would take our retired racers who still loved it to do lure coursing. Which is a different style of racing, but still fun for them.

mdom 08-24-2021 12:11 AM

ah, so it's dogs with a lot of energy doing what they like! But sounds like could be abused, yeah

Biomecha 08-24-2021 06:51 PM

I mean...I literally grew up in that world. Around race tracks, trainers, dog shows, lure coursing, etc. I even got to hang out in the booth where they controlled the electronic "rabbit" with one of the race track owners as a kid. They took care of their dogs. A lot of what makes the headlines is more likely going to be the negative aspects. There will also be confirmation bias with rescue organizations, because you only bring in the dogs that need help and not the ones that are well taken care of. But I also don't believe racing should continue because there are so many issues with the people involved. The dog showing world also needs to be held accountable, for various reasons. And horse racing.

mdom 08-24-2021 08:30 PM

Ah, I see. I don't think I ever heard about dog racing in Brazil, only the uh, dog pageants.

Biomecha 08-25-2021 12:01 AM

Are they actual serious competitions?
