Whaat how can you live without potatoes!! What about sweet potatoes!!

Biomecha 10-17-2019 11:46 AM

I'm not that into potatoes but sweet potatoes are okay. I'd just rather get my calories from protein or fat, or better vegetables like squash.

mdom 10-17-2019 04:33 PM

Pumpkins and courgettes are types of squash, the internet tells me

I am the person who could live from potatoes and butter

Biomecha 10-17-2019 04:58 PM

Yeah, pumpkin is a winter squash which are the types I prefer. Such as butternut, kabocha, acorn, spaghetti, and delicata. There are other good ones, but they seem harder to find.

Do you use the courgettes term instead of zucchini? Yellow zucchini and yellow squash are good roasted.

mdom 10-17-2019 05:02 PM

Don't mess with me!! Spaghetti is pasta, not a vegetable!!

I use things intermittently, depending on what I remember

Vivianne 10-17-2019 05:29 PM

Oh, now I have a butternut squash craving. I think I tried some last year with red onion and thyme. It was very flavorful like that.

Zucchini I eat with eggs.

I generally dislike potato, even the sweet kind.

mdom 10-17-2019 05:31 PM

What is this potato hating squad forming in my thread xD

Maybe it's a gene that whoever is into potatoes isn't into squash xD

Vivianne 10-17-2019 05:38 PM

I like mashed potatoes fine, but I need a lot of gravy. Baked potatoes are too dry for me, but I guess I should have used butter to fix that.

My parents like both sweet potatoes and squash.

But they also like eggplant, so I question their judgement.

Biomecha 10-17-2019 05:55 PM

Spaghetti squash gets its name because of how stringy it is.

I like eggplant as long as enough moisture has been removed.

Vivianne 10-17-2019 06:02 PM

Maybe that’s the problem with our eggplant. It gets cooked until it’s really moist and soft and unappetizing.

I’ve never actually had appetizing eggplant, though.

mdom 10-17-2019 06:45 PM

Deep fried eggplant is edible xDD
Or as lasagna. Hmmm maybe it's the cheese

Biomecha 10-17-2019 07:04 PM

It's pretty good roasted. Keeps it from absorbing too much moisture and brings out some of the sweetness.

You might like moussaka, mdom. It has variations with potato and eggplant and is somewhat similar to lasagna.

mdom 10-17-2019 07:12 PM

Hmm... seems delicious
or does it seem delicious because it's close to dinner time???

Vivianne 10-17-2019 07:12 PM

Cheese makes everything better!

My mom steams eggplant, I think. She hasn’t cooked it in a while.

Biomecha 10-17-2019 07:20 PM

Baba ghanoush is also good, has eggplant. Steamed eggplant sounds like it wouldn't be ideal, considering how absorbant it is. Unless it was being mixed with other things.

Vivianne 10-17-2019 07:36 PM

It had some kind of Chinese sauce as well. I hated the texture.

It felt softer than we make our zucchini. The eggplant really looked like a mess, though.
