Though you might notice that we have a word for twelve of something ("dozen") and after that we switch to counting with "-teen" instead of having special words for the numbers.

Yep, eleven and twelve both are odd--just twelve with its "w" and L-V-E looks odd to me when I spell it out.
Why do we even have the word "dozen"? It seems so useless -_-

12 is a convenient number in a world where mental math is important. You can only cut 10 in half once, and you can't cut it in thirds at all. You can cut 12 in half twice, or you can cut it in thirds or sixths.
